There are Chelsea legends and then there is this guy

We went from the likes of JT, Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Essien etc. to a literal man child.

I wasn't even aware of this and tbh in a general sense I have no real issue but looking at the 'March' and '1 year ago' he was really doing this literally right after we lost a cup final in no small part thanks to him?

I'm in the camp that is pretty non-fussed about this. He started great under lamps but has been on a steady path to nowhere for 18 months now. Part could be put at the feet of managers/team dynamic/change in ownership etc. but he also has to shoulder that too, personally I feel he will always be a good player but not a great one (maybe he will prove me wrong). We've got 60m which feels fair cop and he gets to play at another top club. In an ideal world I wouldn't want to sell to a rival but we are where we are, nobody else was in for him.

Good luck Mason.

Money Mase by name, Money Mase by nature. Should give an insight into why he was turning down our contract offers.

Club offers player 150/ 200 K per week... Rival club offers nearly double. I salute Mounts team and the player to be able to coin in such a large contract. Is 300k value for money? No way! 🙂  i Remember when JT nearly left us for Man City because of the eye watering sums on offer.

We are CFC and despite being owned by a mafioso from Russia and now more than likely credit card billionaire, they don't want to overpay for players. Look where overpaying for players has gotten us in the past, we've been lumbered with them until this summer... club in free fall. Its almost like we had a first team of Winston bogards...

I wonder what everyones reaction was when we signed Ashley Cole, remember the Goonies waving wads of cash and calling the greatest left back in the UK, Cashley cole? So many on here sound like goonies fans... Cheering top four and bemoaning players who are absolutely entitled to seek better contracts wherever they find them.

Best of luck Mr Mount.

One of these pictures is from Jorginho’s goodbye message to chelsea fans on Instagram, the other is from Mount’s Instagram post of him visiting a dying child for make a wish. You tell me Jorginho got more abuse with a straight face:

A small minority of morons (all be it very loud, a minority that will also almost certainly exist within the United fanbase) doesn't change the fact he was almost universally backed at the stadium in ways not even the likes of Hazard was.

I don't know if we're ever going to find out his true motives for leaving or not but I'd be very disappointed if kids on an Internet platform played a part in it.

You guys are going wayy overboard with analysing how a 24 year old man in 2023 is behaving in his free time or what kind of person he is. JT for example is from another era. Mase is from this new era. I am glad MM is like he is and not how JT is.

I have always loved Mason's character and persona. This type of person is creating a good atmosphere around him and is not too serious. JT for my liking has always struck as a bit serious as a man. He is running after a ball in a game where grown men try to settle a score. Serious is not a word that fits into that. You can do things 110% and with heart but being too serious around a game is not my cup of tea.

Anyway I am not happy he chose to leave but only thing we can do is thank him and wish him good luck!

So why should he care about that? I assume Mount doesn't check his Instagram comments first thing after training. It's a cesspit of bots, trolls and weirdos anyways.

Mount got a lot of love from actual Chelsea fans. Means comments on Insta/Twitter is a sh*t excuse for leaving and it's of course not why he's leaving. He's going because he gets the wages he wants at United.

You yourself just posted an article from Jorginho saying that all footballers see their comments. Can't be the case for one and not the other.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66039870

Good summary from the BBC, I could have posted this on any thread really however I chose this one, just puts into perspective the Mount transfer is just a very minor thing in the grand scheme of the rebuild ! or Bohely 2.0 or what ever they are calling it.

It actually perked me up a bit, its quite exciting, but I think we have to strap ourselves in for another bumpy season I reckon. Its a lot of change in one go.

Yes, and that he didn't care and just got on with it.

Just used as an example to show the hate Mount was getting online compared to players that Jorginho that people pretend were hated. Jorginho got booed while we were losing a couple of times by absolute morons. Mount was getting dogs abuse after winning POTY with 1000's of likes on every comment.

We all know he's moved to be paid what he thinks he's worth, the hate likely doesn't come into it. It certainly doesn't help though and shows how pathetic and vocal a lot of the toxic fans are at Chelsea. They're not fans, they're consumers of the Chelsea product.

Left under the exact same circumstances as Mount. Contract running out and moved to a rival after not agreeing a deal with Chelsea. One gets abused to the ends of the earth, the other got thanks for his service. Like i say, these aren't fans they're consumers.

Very exciting times at Chelsea right now. Think Todd and Co have done a fantastic job in the grand scheme of things. Sacrificed a season and will have got a 5 year rebuild done in 3 windows.

Depends who you ask I suppose.

Didn't see you being all appreciative for Jorginho over the years did we.

Also would never have seen me messaging him on twitter, booing in a stadium or commenting on his Instagram pictures.

That's the difference. Having a private opinion on Theshedend or commenting it publicly directly to them are two VERY different things.

Surely from a footballer point of view, being booed by not a few but thousands (I was at the Bridge then and it wasn't a few morons) on your home ground has to be more depressing than getting thousands of bots and twats online pestering you.

One lasts 15 seconds, the other lasts forever. Both are wrong.

Yes.

But regardless, it's going to be 10x at United.

Is it though? They worship Shaw, Rashford and AWB. Mount wasn't abused for his efforts and what he was doing on the pitch. A large portion of the fan base hated Lampard because he took over from Sarri and along with Lampard they saw Mount as his 'son'. I actually didn't really mind Sarri as a person or manager but the cult that joined with him then stayed are a cancer to the fan base. Everything turned so toxic with the Chelsea fan base online after 2019.

You're aware that no United fan thinks that a large portion of the Chelsea fan base hated Lampard taking over from Sarri. You're definitely going to be blinded by what you encounter online, and you don't go digging through all the comments of other clubs.

Basically every club has its toxicity if you go digging for it.

Mount though has had abuse from across the country, easily the most hated england player. He's now going into United without any academy credit in the bank, to do a role (apparently) that none of our previous managers thought he could do and with a big wage and salary hanging over him.

I want him to do well, I'm not as tribal as most fans, but I'm a bit worried for him.

I'm sad that this saga has ended this way. Always held out hope things would be resolved and he'd stay.

Not interested in rewriting what he's done for/with us or assigning blame to him or the club. Good player, fun to watch, will feel weird seeing him in red.

And thats exactly how we should all feel really, very well put. Gutted hes gone, but we move on. He was outstanding for the majority of time with us, gave his all in games and was the consummate pro.

If we're basing it on twitter stuff I've seen a decent chunk of United fans that don't like Shaw and Rashford, often calling the former fat and the latter a PR merchant.

There's absolutely no way they'll be going easy on a Chelsea boy who's instantly one of their highest earners if he's not performing.

Hence why he wouldn't be in for 10x worse abuse at Utd. Fresh start for him.

I don't think you understood my point.

You think a large proportion of Chelsea fans hated lampard. You also think all united fans like Shaw and AWB.

No United fan would agree with that view. Because they live in their world and you live in this one.

And in their world, a player who isn't known for scoring, tackling or assists, is joining their club for a big fee and big wages. He's going to have an incredibly short honeymoon.

And you might not notice, because it won't be your world. But he's going to get it from all corners.
