What is the future plan for player wages? If we are now looking at cutting the wages across the board and not willing to pay them top wages then there’s a possibility that if any of our young players turns out to be any good then they are going to jump ship at the first sight of a pay rise.  Not saying we should have paid Mount the same as Utd but he isn’t the only player who wanted out.

Yes the money in football is ridiculous but the simple fact is that the best teams pay out the biggest wages and the best players command the big wages.

We are now heavily relying on young players, I very much hope it works out but I’m a little worried if I’m honest.

As for Mason, I liked him as a player and didn’t want him to leave but he’s not going to be massively hard to replace.

It's about giving big wages only to the very best players. The likes of Reece James and Enzo are worth big salaries, Mount isn't.

According to this Enzo is already on a wage on par with the highest earners in the league.

Players will likely join once they've proved themselves consistently at the highest level.

I fully support the club reducing the wage bill and basic wages.

However for it to be fully accepted by all it has to be applied across the board. Meaning the likes of Sterling, James, Kepa etc need to take a pay cut or be sold.

This is nonsense. Mount wasn't offered a pay cut, he was offered a significant increase.

You're insistent on believing the smallest crumbs of negativity around this story.

We offered him a contract we thought was fair. He wanted more. Liverpool, city, arsenal, Bayern, all turned their noses up at offering more. And so he went to United who by all accounts have offered a silly amount for a player who is at a fork in his career where he could fade into mediocrity or become world class.

It's a big gamble for them, a part of me hopes mount does come good. But I am much happier with our moves than what United did.

Blimey one of our own has now become a money grabbing traitor

If my new boss offered me a 20% raise and then a few weeks later rescinded the offer and another firm then offered me a position for more than that rescinded amount, I'd farkin well move on as well

Loyalty - LOL  The only loyalty left in football is with us lot the supporting fans

We sold them Mata & Matic in the last decade they didn't assist them much, I wish MM the best, but just not any trophies, just yet !

That list does show how fcked up things really are.  Regardless of fan opinion about the players concerned but to pay Kai Havertz, goal scoring CL winner, signed as a first team regular from Leverkusen £150,000 a week and then pay David Fofana, half of one game played, signed from Molde in Norway, £200,000 a week is just mental.

With the way all this stuff is openly available nowadays is it any wonder that some players see this stuff,  take umbrage and look to leave.

Yeah that shows to me that list is pure BS. There's no way in hell Datro Fofana is earning that much

The loyalty argument doesn't really work for me. Fans due to being emotionally involved assume the player has to prioritize club over money, but for players it's a job first, and an opportunity to make as much money as possible in a very short window of a professional footballer's active career.

And loyalty goes both ways. Clubs are only "loyal" to the players they value and want to keep, the rest they sell, release, loan out etc. without any consideration of what it's like for a player. It's a business at the end of the day, but I understand why we fans see things the way we do.

Oh so true

To a large degree how RA both funded and viewed the club led us into a false sense of security

The new owners will be looking at the players as assets and when so doing they will not risk potentially losing tens of millions by allowing players in the last years of their contracts to just walk for free it’s one of the reasons that they are handing out such long deals and yes I know all about spreading amortisation but I for one expect them to keep dishing out long deals

Mason unfortunately thought he was worth more than the club were prepared to offer him . Lots of players are convinced they are worth more than they are offered. RA like many benefactor owners will just capitulate to player demands and in a way this whole sage is a watershed moment and potentially the new owners have drawn a very important line in the sand

Spot on. Why should we expect loyalty from the players. The fans one day are chanting one if our own, and tweeting rave reviews, and then next spewing filth on the same social media platforms.  These are young boys with virtually no real life experiences, with them and their families seeing where unaccountable fans have been posting abusive comments about them. Is it any wonder that players crave the adulation of fans but also realise the fickleness and don't trust them.

Players that grow up as fans of the club, going through the academy process, then learn as adults that it is just a place of work and clubs deem them as tradeable assets.

No loyalty, but that's fine  it's a big world.

On second thoughts ignore that list. There's no way he's on that much.

Meh. Not chels through and through as he'd like to have us think a year or so ago.

Never close to being another Frank.

Bye

Missed that. When he made us think he was Chelsea through and through.

I've never fallen for that one, seen plenty of badge kissing from players who move on .  It's juvenile to think a professional football player should stall his career because it might upset fans.

All these Mount stans must feel ridiculous. He said "fck you" to you all.

But you gave him a banner. Before Kante got one

Now where did I say Mount was offered a pay cut? Where did I say anyone has been offered a pay cut to stay?

It is obvious we are clearing the deck of big wages. Koulibaly, Ziyech, Havertz, Kante, all big, big earners, all gone with RLC, CHO, Dave and Pulisic to follow.

We have also introduced this new wage structure to not had out the big contracts Roman did or the new owners did in their first window.

My point was, if you want to the be accepted and respected across the board you cannot have players like Sterling, Cucurella or Kepa earning big wages while others were cut for no CL and on a lower basic. Has to be evenly applied across the squad.

Which is where James, Sterling et AL pose a problem..

I feel like it’s been chucked back in my face after all the times I’ve defended him when he was playing poor.

All I feel now is bitter disappointment with a hint of backstabbing. He was the Chelsea boy for me and I was so looking forward to watching him grow with us. Especially when Frank Lampard made him take the next step at Derby and showed him a lot of faith at Chelsea, only for him to Chuck it all back in our faces and jump ship when we needed him most.

I guess he showed his true colours, that he’s abit of a c*nt. Still disappointed though.

I thought that one of the sticky points of what the club offered to Mount was the lengthy contract, we’ll, he’s signed 5+1 years with Utd that will take him to 30 years at the end of the contract.

I wish him well personally but all the worse sport wise as I don’t want Manure to win anything.

You’re free to invest your own money in banners for whomever you see fit, Kante has one on the way. What a weird thing to be upset about.
