Mason Mount

You guys are going wayy overboard with analysing how a 24 year old man in 2023 is behaving in his free time or what kind of person he is. JT for example is from another era. Mase is from this new era. I am glad MM is like he is and not how JT is.

I have always loved Mason's character and persona. This type of person is creating a good atmosphere around him and is not too serious. JT for my liking has always struck as a bit serious as a man. He is running after a ball in a game where grown men try to settle a score. Serious is not a word that fits into that. You can do things 110% and with heart but being too serious around a game is not my cup of tea.

Anyway I am not happy he chose to leave but only thing we can do is thank him and wish him good luck!

You have a terrible view of Terry's personality on the pitch. He came across serious because he driven by passion and commitment, and it's the reason why he was a serial winner and became the best CB the Premier League has ever seen. The best players to play the game were all like that. I would take a team full of John Terry's every single day of the week, it's something we have been missing since the day he left. Maybe this is why the team is in the mess it's in now and why fitness levels are so sh*t, there isn't enough commitment to do well in a Chelsea shirt.

He's from Portsmouth, supported them as a boy.

Have you ever heard him claim to be proper Chels?

He’s from Waterlooville. It doesn’t count as Portsmouth. It’s on the mainland.

Is it though? They worship Shaw, Rashford and AWB. Mount wasn't abused for his efforts and what he was doing on the pitch. A large portion of the fan base hated Lampard because he took over from Sarri and along with Lampard they saw Mount as his 'son'. I actually didn't really mind Sarri as a person or manager but the cult that joined with him then stayed are a cancer to the fan base. Everything turned so toxic with the Chelsea fan base online after 2019.

You seem a bit of touch with the United fanbase if you think they worship their players. They worship Rashford? 😆 You should go back and look at the things they were saying about him under Solskjaer then. They all wanted him shipped off to PSG last summer.

He has still gone?  He hasn't had a change of heart has he?
lol

Sad.  Sad to lose an Academy player and footballers are not quite like accountants.  This is not just another type of job.  Football really is a different ball game.

I don't wish him well. I dont like his new club. I hope he fails and I hope Man Utd fail.  That said. We will be much better off without him.  Nothing left to say on the matter. He is now history.

Mon£¥ Ma$€' might be the most childish thing i've ever seen. You sound like an Arsenal fan saying Cashley Cole. Be embarrassed, act like a grown up i beg.

It does have a very nice ring to it and that's your rich opinion, RIP Mourinho the adult. 😂

‘Portsea Island contains the majority of the City of Portsmouth.’

Also I used to get the ferry across Portsmouth Harbour from Gos Vegas when going to Fratton Park so double f**k you.

You shouldn't believe Wikipedia mate. It's full of nonsense

But thanks for the outburst and the ferry story 🤣🤣🤣

John always has and always will be Mr.Chelsea, even Frank said it; that says everything! ….but we all already know that!

In Masons case, I’ve learnt it’s probably more than likely not about the cash! We all saw problems with the club since the takeover, I think a lot is down to that! But that can be debated until the cows come home, it won’t change anything now!

So Mounts move did not go through in time so goes on to next year's FFP. Will that cause us any bother?

I don't think so - it wasn't a necessary sale, but the right thing to do with his contract.  if the table below is accurate, excluding Mount and the yet to be confirmed yellow rows, we'd still be +150M in sales.  The 600M spent last year, even if you assume 6 year deals (and we know more expensive players were on longer term deals), that's 100M a year to amortize.

All that said, plus wage savings, I actually think we're in a very strong financial position.

So is he a snake for leaving or are Winstanley and Stewart ruthless and withdrew the offer? If like you say they were ruthless and withdrew the offer surely everyone on the forum must feel pretty foolish calling him a snake as it wasn't his decision.

Mount is not a snake, nor a legend either. He is a player who was assesed by the higher ups who did not consider he is worth the big money contract. And my personal view is that they made the right choice. He is no way a 55M, 250k a week player.

The club did some mistakes last summer by buying and offering big contracts to players who were not worth that kind of money. We can't expect this to happen again and again because the owners might not know football from A to Z, but they are not fools either. They are successful businessman who can easily steady ships after a few mistakes and IMHO this is exactly what is happening at the moment - sell the deadwood, massively reduce the wage bill and asses the squad and offer the right contracts.

Mount might have been the fans' favourite, but from a footballing perspective the club did the right choice.
