Certainly didn't disgrace himself, once he get accustomed to international pace he'll thrive, still themes accomplished Midfielder on the park tonight, didn't see him misplace a pass tonight...

I think he was very solid and assured. His passing ability is the strong part of his game although I'm not sure how pacey he is. Think he will grow into a Chelsea regular for  any years to come.

He looked like the type of player likes the big stage, remember he played against City last season and not look out of place. He needs to go on loan next season to build up his career, unless we shift one or two out can't see him getting the minutes he's after.

Interesting to see him match up against Mount and Shaw. Looked like he struggled to get into the game for the first 10 or 15 minutes and then seemed to get on the ball a bit and he grew.

Fantastic to see the Scottish number 8 at one point almost demanding that Gilmour get the ball and keep passing it, must have been great for his confidence.

I'm already a fully fledged fan of the Billy Gilmour fan club but seeing strut his stuff in an international tournament is very satisfying.

A loan might still be on the cards next season but we definitely need to be creating a path for him into our first team because his potential is so high.

I hope the penny has now dropped with the higher ups that they don't need to spend £60M on someone like Declan Rice 🙂

But we absolutely do. That's how we will get the best out of Gilmour's incredible talent and potential. We need that proper defensive physical midfielder to deal with the every day muck, snot and sh*te and leave Billy Pirlo free to be an artist and create. Nobody used to worry about Platini or Hoddle defending. Not their job. Others did it for them.

Chelsea TV did this great short on Wee Billy

Reckon he’s the real deal personally I’d prefer him as a starter to Kova/ Jorginho he’s got what it takes and needs proper game time to improve and he proved yesterday his football brain makes up for lack of experience. Meanwhile Kova like Croatia has shown sweet FA in the tourney, Jorginho cant go wrong  in that team, Billy will and I stress will be a better player than both in 2 or 3 years time.

Just hope we don’t hype up the lad too much and expect too much from him too soon.

He had a very good game against England and his passing quality is there for all to see. He’s only just turned 20 and the press and Souness are going a wee bit OTT I feel.

He’s going to come under a bit of pressure as time goes forward and teams will target him ( as they should) to test his metal.
I feel he has what it takes to deal with it all to push on but people should he patient.

Too true goose. Important to have perspective here.

For mine it is the physical battle that will be the biggest challenge for him. Whenever he is allowed time on the ball his qualities will show. I was a bit surprised England didn't pressure him more. Other opponents will definitely do that, if not in International football then definitely in the Premier League.

Not sure about that, I think he can be strong. He showed it against England a couple of times, once against Mount when they fought for the ball and iirc Billy got it back from Mason. He also showed in that cup game against the dippers strength in midfield and capacity to recover the ball and protect it in tight spaces. He needs playing time and he will get stronger.

I think size will always be an issue for him in England. Mount isn't the kind of physical player I am thinking of. Other bigger players will cause more of an issue.

When he started in man city v chelsea a couple months back I thought he at best just held his own. Despite what he brings to the table in my view he wasn’t at that point in front of Kante Jorginho or kova.   So far as I recall he doesn’t have an assist for Chelsea yet. I am a fan but I’m far from convinced he’ll get enough minutes this coming season if doesn’t go on loan.
