March 8, 20215 yr Timo should do what Salah did and practiced shooting at home. Even Torres and Morata weren't this pathetic on finishing
March 8, 20215 yr His 1v1's are pretty much identical to Morata's, the difference between them is that Werner doesn't give up, but he has to do better. He's just hitting his shots straight at the keeper.
March 8, 20215 yr I’m feeling it, he’s going to grab sh*t load of goals from now to end of season. He’s looking really good and getting these chances, it’s only a matter of time until they start hitting back of the net
March 8, 20215 yr He rushes to get the shot away when there is time to take a touch, seems worried about losing the ball in the box. Also tries to shoot through small gaps in the keeper rather than going for a more elaborate finish that's harder to save. He's anxious in the box and doesn't want to take risks, still has a way to go to getting back that confidence.
March 8, 20215 yr Even though he keeps missing some easy goals, I love the effort he puts and how he gets in between the lines dragging defenders out of place. He just needs to starting converting goals and he’ll scare the crap out of many teams’ defenders.

It's a pity he can't hit a barn door at the moment.

Do you mean having a bad first touch and losing the ball and not completing passes? If you like his energy, then as has been said before in this thread, we could have found a much cheaper option in the Championship or even someone for free from this forum to lace up their boots!
March 8, 20215 yr Head down, put foot through ball. Rinse and repeat. Needs to actually get his head up, breathe, and then pick a spot. Composure is all over the place. Could easily have 10 more goals this season, hopefully the hard work will eventually pay off.

Just a question of building experience and confidence. My memory may be failing me, but didn’t Drogba miss quite a lot when he first joined us?
March 8, 20215 yr For me, he needs a bit of guile. One sticks out for me today gets the ball on the right side of the box with just Pickford to beat and with his right just hits it at him with no angle. He had time, why didn't he feint a shot to see if Pickford committed himself. Disappointing yet at least his work rate is high.
March 8, 20215 yr The compilation of his misses this season can be seen as bad or good. Bad, he doesn’t seem to have composure and can’t hit a barn door. Good, he’s getting brilliant chances and if he can find that killer instinct he’d be up there for the golden boot. I thought that, despite he should have scored twice tonight, he was impressive the movement and pressing he got through was very good. If he can just bring it all together

If he can just bring it all together I thought his link up play was good too, especially with Havertz. Werner missing chances is incredibly frustrating, but at least he isn't looking completely hopeless like Morata and Torres.
March 9, 20215 yr He has time on his side, I'm hoping he uses this season as a learning experience and really kicks on next season. He still has a chance to finish with 10+ goals in the prem and 15 goals and 10+ assists by the end of season. Which all in all would be a good debut season.
March 9, 20215 yr Has to start scoring these chances. He has a knack of making the simple look very complicated. Still believe in him - no substitute for pace, which he has to burn, and his positional play is also very good. Perhaps some shooting practice! I just wish he could slow things down around him when shooting - rare gift for great strikers.

Similarly there is more to Werner's game than just goals ... but I think we'd all take prime Drogba ahead of Werner. Having said that, I think of all our Roman era strikers, the one I'd most like to see in the current line up is Hernan Crespo 🙂 Edited March 9, 20215 yr by Sexyfootball
March 9, 20215 yr I don't care if an attacker cannot score or produce number if he offer a lot of other stuff like Willian. Very2 easy to incorporate to the team. Werner on the other hand is a nightmare. All of his strength point to goal getter yet his conversion rate is horrific.

Energy and desire to attack primarily. That alone makes defenses do a double take. He's a good decoy at the moment
March 9, 20215 yr 57 minutes ago, Sexyfootball said: Well you can ... quite objectively as it happens ... 🙂 0l Do you have minutes played? Because on top of my head timo must have played at least double amount of minutes compare to other attacker (that doesn't include Mount,Mount play as cm under lamp 99%)
March 9, 20215 yr I really appreciate his effort, his pressing and fighting for the team. Not many strikers knows how to play like a pressing striker. But at the end of the day we needs goals. I still believe he's a very good player, especially striker. He is motivated and he wants to prove himself to the league, he is there to play and missing some luck. This season is his first one to learn the league, to understand how tough the defenders are here and the teams. Next season would be a huge test for him.
March 9, 20215 yr His game is improving, apart from the finishing. From what I have seen, he scored plenty of goals smashing it early and hard, worked out well for him in the German league, but EPL had better Goalkeepers. The first 1 on 1 against Pickford, he could have walked the ball past the GK, instead he picks the only option the GK could deal with it. He's getting those through balls, his first touch is getting better, all he needs is to pick better option and finish those big chances off.
