Hope you are right buddy! I do feel bad for slating him earlier, but he's just so frustrating.

Did well to unselfishly set up Mount, West booms style of minimalist touches, and quick incisive passes would suit Werner, not our pass pass pass, don't cross early, pick the perfect pass to the Messi we aint got.....

I have faith that Havertz will come good, but I don't feel the same about Werner. His first touch really, really bothers me. It is so inconsistent. He is not a natural finisher for me.

The ball across the box in the first half where it was flagged offside, he got in the right position but panicked and went at the ball with the wrong foot IMO. Most other strikers would have let it run across their body to open up the goal. And that would have put it on his preferred left foot as well.

I do like his attitude and effort but that's not enough. If we could use him as part of a deal for Haaland I think that would be a great problem solved. 

Heard a report earlier that Werner wanted extra time after training to do shooting practice and Tuchel refused to let him, said practice wouldn't do anything and he just needed to relax and let it happen......wow 

At least Morata was an aerial threat even when he's sh*te.

Werner doesn't look cut out for the way we play. I have said it many times now, but we aren't set up to take advantage of his strengths. He likes the ball played to him quickly, he wants to be played in so he can be 1v1 against the keeper. We just don't play this way and it's another case of us buying a player that just doesn't suit the style of football we play.

We never learn. We need to stop buying players just because they looked good for another team. If they don't suit the system, then don't buy the player, even if that player scored 30+ goals the season before. But I guess we chop and change so often that it's likely we could find one coach that will play to his strengths eventually, but then at the same time we would have other players looking out of sorts because they won't suit the new system.

If you were to put prime Costa in our current team, he would struggle to score a single goal. Actually, put any striker in this team and they would struggle to score. I'm not sure what type of striker is suited to this style of football. I can't think of a single striker that would score 20+ goals a season in a team that can barely create a single decent chance a game.

Can’t believe that we had a perfectly hilarious moment like Werner coming back from half time late because he was on the sh*tter ruined by:

a) No fans to sing ‘he sh*ts when he wants’, ‘he’s taken a sh*t’ (etc.)

b) The ineptitude of Jorginho

In the EPL Scott how many 1 on 1's with a keeper do you see though? Not many. The pace of the league and defensive set ups means you don't see hardly any teams playing with a defensively high line, bar Liverpool, and that high line accounts for a lot of their problems this season which, unsurprisingly, saw Werner have a very good game against them. Unfortunately he is rarely going to have that space behind a back line to run into.

Also, when has found himself in 1 on 1 situations, he generally hasn't had the quality to make them count.

You can put prime Messi up top,I can guarantee 30 goals and problem solved 😁😁

I was half joking though, the way we play probably suited to more of a Lewandowski or kane type of striker.

That is true but we can help him if we play faster similar to pool.

I have said for a while that Werner is quite similar to Vardy, just less clinical. I think if he was playing in a team with a similar system that Vardy has played at Leicester, he would succeed. I think Werner would be brilliant for a counter attacking team. I also think he would have done well at Liverpool. They like to get the ball to the front 3 as quickly as possible, and I think that type of game suits Werner better compared to what we are seeing with us. That is why Liverpool wanted him.

Based on what I have seen so far I think Vardy is technically miles ahead of Werner. Also has a better football brain in terms of his movement and positioning IMO.

I would say Danny Ings is ahead of Werner in all those points too.

Vardy is way more experienced in football though. The guy made his PL debut at 28 and he went through almost every stage in the English football.

You can't really make a direct comparison between the two.

Yep that's fair enough Deino. But Werner does not seem like a natural finisher for me, or even a lone striker.

It just isn't working out, and increasingly hard to turn around.  Not thru lack of trying or attitude, but his fundamentals, relatively poor finishing, our playing style and the league really have him out of sorts.  He looks more Morata or Kezman to me than even a Torres, and not a shadow of the impact players like Costa, Drogba or Jimmy.  We need some more Anelka's - dependable players.

Simple fact is. He was bought in to be out aguero - 30 goals a season. It’s already at the point where i don’t even expect him to score again this season. I was chuffed as bits when we signed him as most of us were.

Not sure why so many of our signings over the last 5 years have been such a disaster. Can only think it is down to non stop manager merrygo round. We can’t be that unlucky that they are all so poor for us

Poor scouting and recruitment. Managers are never going to say no to new signings, but i would love to know which players the managers really wanted versus those that were selected by the board

Werner looked decent enough in the Bundesliga but others have done equally well in that league only to disappoint elsewhere. He hasn't been overly impressive for the national team either. I cannot knock his effort but I don't think he is good enough to be a starter in a top team.

Very true there was a lot of optimism but none of us are paid big sums by the club to identify suitable transfer targets. At least as far as I know 😉

Apart from RB leipzig, that will be in the CL again next year
