Why does this matter if we can't defend? The Havertz talk needs to stop. We need defenders and a new goalkeeper.

To be a successful Premier League team, you need to build from the back. It's been proven for as long as I have been watching football. Liverpool bought Van Dijk and Alisson, City bought an entire defence, we did it back when Abramovich took over, United did it when they bought in Evra and Vidic. You can't be successful in this league without a solid defence. You can have the best attack in the league, but it won't matter if that defence is weak.

Lampard and the board need to realise this. We need better coaching and better players, if that doesn't improve next season, then we continue to struggle to qualify for Champions League football. Needing the attack to score 2,3 or 4 every week just isn't going to happen.

i think i will not dignify the majority of your post with a response since laced with personal attacks..

the only question i asked you was which of the goals today were not down to individual errors.. which you ignored.. so once you are want to respond to that.. we can have a conversation.. else we will just let it rest.

You can't pass it off as individual errors when it's been happening all season.

didnt we have tammy covering the back post .. till he fluffed his lines.. ?

Agree on Azpi covering the big lad..

Not letting Yaramelenko come on the his favored foot.. was on Rudi.. I am sure that information is given to players.. My reading is that Rudi panicked and was worried about getting caught in a 2v1 .. since Christensen didnt take out the man he lost..

-- having said that the play preceding the first goal or when AC lost his man for the second or the keeper jumping out where much bigger contributors to the goals which were individual errors

Stubborn on this ehh, ok I’ll forget everything I know about football coaching, who picks them?

Do you mean Maguire? The guy turns slower than a canal barge and Lindeloff has the physical stature of Christensen if he went to the gym once.

Between Maguire and Lindelof they have conceded 3 times in 15 games.

At this rate United will get 3rd with their run in and we will scrap it out with Leicester for 4th.

Wolves and Pool are our tough games.

Remember how much sh*t he was giving you the other day for pointing this out? Now earlier in the thread he said the last 3 results were papering over the cracks, oh the irony...

Can't even believe what i'm seeing right now. I was worried about Kante being shoehorned back in but never in a million years did i think it would be at the expense of the entire system.

We're basically playing Conte2018 ball right now.

Villa are in the process of getting relegated. Their defence is as poor as ours

We've got the money to improve though. Surely the greatest centre half England has ever produced can teach these blokes a thing or two.

First thing we need to do this summer is completely change the coaching staff. Stick with Lampard but get him a top class coach to work with. At least someone who can organise a defence.

Jangz, the manager picks the team. He picks the system to mitigate the individual errors. He also makes the changes during the game. Take the last goal, blind Freddy could see that Antonio was always winning the first ball on Christensen and that was the way they would get at us. In that situation Frank can:

- Bring Zouma on to win more of the first balls

- Instruct Christensen to foul him if he can't win the challenge

- Have more than 2 or 3 players behind the ball so we can win the second ball.

None of those things happened. Now that's fine, you make a decision in the moment and sometimes as a young manager you get it right and sometimes you dont. But let's not pretend he holds no responsibility.

i think the Zouma decision was the one that he would have had to make at the start of the game... chasing a game i think he wanted to go for more attacking options .. i am not saying Frank is not blameless.. starting Tammy over Giroud, bringing on RLC who is clearly off pace... or not finding a solution to the long ball by asking Kante to stay back more... all i am saying is that more than frank his players let him down.. to score two goals and not win is on the individual errors that were made .. which cant be coached at this level..

We all hoped for 7 years that Luiz could be coached but at this level some players have it others dont..

That would be nice, I’d love Terry here but sadly I think he wants to be a manager so I doubt he’d take up the role.

lol.. i agree with you on that.. Zouma needs to play.. Starting Tammy and bringing on RLC .. bad decisions .. On frank completely..  Problem for me is i dont think any coach can improve this lot too much . we have Conte try , Sarri too and now Frank...

Had a shower, beverage and still can't shake the utter disgust and anger at thay performance. Wish the league was called as it was because watching us throw away a CL spot to piss teams like that tonight is just torture.

I reckon some of us gave up on Luiz much sooner than 7 years :laugh2:

Conte made the defence so strong and won the league. Probably not the best example to use!

i was talking about the second season to be honest.. the moment Terry and Cahill waned and the current lot plus Luiz took over we have been porus at the back..

I hope the whole Kante needs to play in the cdm role to improve our defence can finally be put to bed. We haven’t had a clean sheet since the restart and he’s been playing there in all 3 games. The fact of the matter is that our defence isn’t good and Kante playing deep or up the pitch doesn’t make a difference.

Looking on the bright side. I think we're still well placed for a CL spot. Leicester are fading and we had played three huge games in the space of a week. Natural for a young team not to always be able to keep up their level.

Confident we will bounce back. Still three points inside the top four. Some tough games to go but Liverpool will have been drunk for a month by the time we play them.

Agree their fixtures couldn’t be better but proves you don’t need a couple of world class defenders to defend a corner.
