Almost as if a regista is crucial to ball retention, color me shocked!

Don't act as if you have been right all along just because of 1 loss, we lost to them prior to the break as well with Jorginho being a starter.

Mark my words nobody here was impacted more than me for Jorginho not playing and I'm not bitching about it and sticking it up to Lampard even before the first Villa game after the big break like you. Unlike you I respect Lampard and will keep backing him and his decisions. Would I have loved to see Jorginho play? Obviously I would have, go to the first or second page of this match thread and you'll see what lineup I wanted to see this game. I'm not your f**king enemy mate leave me alone.

God, now i know what it must be like trying to converse with Ty from AFTV.

Wenger once said that London teams have it tough due to the number of derby's ...didnt think much of it then .. but to reflect most of our Bogey teams down the year tend to be london clubs.. be it WestHam, Crystal Palace, Spurs away, Qpr for a season..  in that sense i guess the northern teams have it easier..

It’s not the end of the world, people. Bad performance for sure, but there will be better ones, maybe even soon, and we shouldn’t view the entire season through the prism of tonight.

How do you allow one player to wreck your whole defense? We should have put one of the midfield players in front of Antonio. He won most of those balls just by virtue of being in front of our defenders!

Really feel for Pulisic and Willian  - They didnt deserve to be on the losing side.

We are so frustrating. Can be electric when playing quick 1 or 2 touch football, but out players seem to take far too many touches, far too often, and just slow the game down.

Tammy - I have said since well before the start of the season, I dont rate him. Bambi on Ice. I was hoping I would have to eat my words - but he is a poor front man for a top 5 team.

Azpi - The guy is comical at the moment. WTF was he doing on the corner, on the disallowed goal. How many f**king crosses does he put into the box, none of which find a chelsea head. Great servant, but decline has been apparent.

Christensen/Rudi/Zouma. Not good enough/solid enough to be starting CBs for us. Rudi might be ok with a world class defender next to him. But not as a leader of the line.

Marcos A - nothing we dont already know. I actually like him - is he good enough to play left back? probably not - but he offers more than emerson.

Kova -like him a lot. shouldnt have got taken off.

Ross - shouldnt be starting EPL games. Not a bad player to come on

Kante - conflicted on this lad at the moment.

Kepa - doesnt inspire confidence. did he make a save tonight?

f**k knows how to change it. really gutted.

Lampard keeps messing with the team and tinkering with it. It doesn’t help things.

Rule number 1 in defensive coaching is a stable back line, they need to know each other inside out and think as a unit not individually

I totally agree all those London teams, even the newly promoted ones Give us such a hard game.  When they go up to the likes of Man U and Liverpool they just roll over.  All of their big derby games are hard games for us too because they are between our main rivals Liverpool and the 2 Manchester clubs.

What are some of us here raging about. James and Emerson at full backs today alongside Rudiger and Christensen for me would have been a better defense. Accept it or not, that would have been a beautiful defense.

Take a look at their third goal, it was really embarrassing to see a team of Chelsea's standard concede that kind of goal. And it was Alonso's fault, I hope the season can end quickly so that we can get a better left back. Then I think Aspilicueta has played enough for Chelsea, if Chelsea wants to be at a very top position, we need quality players, if we can get a better right back too, it's okay too.

Then we need a better centre defender to play alongside Rudiger. For those people blasting Rudiger, I'll like u to know that if u don't have a good cover in front of u as a defender too, u can be exposed too. So maybe a strong defensive midfielder to play alongside Kante will make us stronger.

Then, maybe a good attacking midfielder will be good too. A proper midfielder. One that is world-class. We need to buy one. We can all see Fernandez and Pogba at Man Utd.

Then definitely, Willian deserves what he is asking from Chelsea right now, Chelsea should give him.

Wahhh Wahhh always the victim, you were the one who tagged him the other day with a "gotchaa!! we've won 3 games with Kante as our holding midfielder, you're wronggg!!" Now you've contradicted yourself and said the last 3 results papered over the cracks, so which is it?

Reminds me of Hazard, not prime Hazard but the raw talented one we signed at 21.

100%

Definitely has massive potential, and Im very happy to see him playing the way he is. Definitely better than some of the stinkers we had on the pitch today

Multiple people have tried to explain this and you refuse to or are unable to understand so you’re right. Best to leave it there.

hmm... ok.. not about me trying to be right mate..... i am just really pissed with the inconsistency of this lot.. Lamps and coaching team need to obviously find better solutions - getting tactically outclassed by long balls is not acceptable.. but gawdd some of what i saw today from professional footballers.. you dont need a coach to tell you that..

i think i will try to forget this game.. and hope everyone around the team - playerscpaches/managers pull up their socks .. still a lot to play for .. KTBFFH

Not sure why there is so much shock and horror at tonight's result.

Ignore where West Ham are in the league and where we are.

1. They always raise their game against us massively

2. We have been ridiculously fortunate to get six points out of the last two games before tonight . We could quite easily be sitting here after three back to back defeats.

We have a long list of first team players who aren't really title challenging quality and a slightly shorter list who aren't really CL qualification players. There is a sh*t load of work to do with this squad and we need to be realistic about expectations.

No team has 11 top class players but title challenging ones have a backbone that is and one or two stars. We don't gave that.

Pulisic is a potential star in the making but Abraham will never be top drawer and Willian continues to fade. CHO is young and has potential but I remain to be convinced he is all that or that his attitude is that of a top professional.

In midfield Kante is the only proven winner. Kovacic and Jorginho are unlikely to ever be key players in a consistently top quality side and Barkley certainly isn't. Mount, I think, has absolutely the right commitment and attitude. Maybe not as naturally talented as say Gilmour but he has clear potential and needs a guiding hand.

Gilmour is the natural talent. Early signs are that he has a level head and is calm. He is the one I'd roll the dice with and play regularly whilst accepting he will sometimes make the mistakes you will get from a young player.

At the back we are a mess and need an overhaul. There is no commanding leader. Azpilicueta is the only one who has the ability of a top class defender but his best days are behind him. None of the rest would regularly feature in the first team to of a top class team. That also includes Kepa who is nowhere near a top class keeper.

I know that all sounds ridiculous when you consider we are fourth in the league and in the cup semis so I apply the caveat that it is based on where we are targeting being given that the purse strings are open again.

In cricket all the bowling and batting coaches tend to have been average players and it's never the top players who become coaches despite being outstanding players. Hilario was a dreadful keeper (although frankly I'd take him over Kepa at the moment) yet he was don't know if he still is our keeping coach so to think that JT could come in and solve our defensive woes is to simplistic.

Amazing how you find a way to make this about Jorginho after Kante put in another w**k performance.

You forgot champions league last 16 runners up

We just need to survive this and somehow get that 5th spot. Then throw some garbage, which happened to be 95% of the squad, must be our top priority.

Get rid of the entire defence, they're a joke. Im still fuming over that result

I agree with that mate, you’re right there is 100% things happening on the park that top level players shouldn’t need to be coached on. Some of it is actually school boy level that they’re failing to do.

My point was more that Lampards faults cannot be overlooked as well. He’s made some brilliant decisions this season but he’s made some equally poor ones. He’s young, and relatively new - it’s learning but the way we’ve defended set plays all season is not good enough.

As you say, a bit of self reflection and we go again at the weekend but if we concede from another corner or free kick. I might put my remote through the TV.

Not quite as amazing as your ability to choke yourself because I didn't worship Jorginho when I mentioned a stack of other players as well.

It doesn't matter if Kante is a proven winner if he's not playing well, playing on reputation is part of the problem. And people who thought replacing Jorginho with Kante would fix a lot of our defensive woes... Well it certainly hasn't, how many goals have we conceded now in the last 4 games? Why was he trying to win a header on the edge of the box against a 6'5 player that let them counter attack and score the winning goal? I wonder if he'll get the same blame coming his way Jorginho did whenever we lost a game with him in the midfield, I doubt it.

I hope this is eye opening to a lot of people.

Just watched franks post match he doesn’t blame the defence he is again talking about missed chances.

I think his naivety is showing, he is an attack minded player and it’s almost as if that’s his full focus and defending is an after thought, it does not work like that at top level

He was asked Specifically about set pieces bring our weakness and he put it down to them being bigger than us....not what I wanted to hear from the manager after that sh*t show
