August 23, 20205 yr He’s looked steady so far in the CL final. Calm on the ball against Bayern’s press. You would never guess he’s as old as he is, moves quite well.
August 23, 20205 yr After 90 minutes all I can say is that he does his job, he walks in our starting lineup any day of the week like this even if he is 35-36. Neuer saved at least 3 clear-cut chances, if only the overpaid Neymar knew how to solve an important game...

August 23, 20205 yr He's 35 and just come up against the most ruthless attack in the whole of world football at the moment and one of the most insane attacks I've seen in a long long time from a team. A team that has just been steam rolling everyone including us and Barca and look how well T.Silva played? Its almost criminal if we dont sign him up because of his age or whatever. JT had one of his best ever seasons at 34 and it wasn't too long ago that Silva was the worlds best CB at one point anyway. The experience he would bring would be immense and he's a real leader. Put any one of our current CB's next to him and he would instantly make them better. Just have to hope the deal does go through and Lampard's defensive tactics improve.
August 24, 20205 yr He didn't look a day over 28. Moves well. Shame for the goal though. He can't mark everyone.
August 24, 20205 yr Kinda hoping we sign him for more than a year. That experience can help teach our young players. Maybe he would be interested in a player and then player coach deal after a couple of seasons.

Everything can change, but in his goodbye statement towards the PSG fans, he said that he loved the club vey much and want to come back in a different role there. First he wants to play for another 3-4 years.
August 24, 20205 yr Lots of rumours saying that it’s almost a done deal and he wants to come to Chelsea. Presuming any final decision was to be made after the CL final. One of the things the media talked about was his leadership qualities which his something that we are severely lacking. In the absence of an obvious top quality defender being available, I think it’s a sensible short term fix. Buys us time to identify the right player rather than waste money.

August 24, 20205 yr I still believe it's far from over. I mean from the player's perspective. Usually having countrymen comes in handy when negotiating with Latino player. Willian is gone, Luiz is gone, we've got bunch of English youngsters, big German and Francophone groups, Kepa is probably gone, Alonso is probably gone and we are left with Dave and Jorginho.... and I don't count Dave as part of any groups now, he is the captain.. I don't know. It doesn't seem like a warm environment for a 35-year old proven veteran, who probably doesn't speak the language, to come in new country and see only unfamiliar faces that he is about to command. From what I've seen this is important to players from this region. Hope I'm wrong.
August 24, 20205 yr A player like Thiago Silva demands respect from his team mates, I’m sure he won’t have a problem commanding the back line. Our current centre backs certainly will look up to him.
