yet Willy a proven player in this division wanted 3 years at 31 and most of you were glad to see the door close behind him

Yeah, but one of them is/was considered world class and is the captain of a Champions League finalist

The other is Willian

Willian has never been a top tier player though, he's been a great servant to us but his contribution for an attacking midfielder is pretty poor given the teams he played in. We have several players now who are simply better than he is in the position he plays. Silva would walk into our team next season given how poor our defensive has been. Willian would be a sub.

That's just how it is plus Willian wanted to join Arse.. So Meh it's no big loss

If we can’t get our primary target, presumably Rice, then I think taking a veteran leader on a free is the next best option. Especially as, like some have mentioned, it would likely be a year stop gap.

The guy is about to start a CL final as captain, but he won’t be good enough for us in 4 weeks, as a stop gap? Come on, this is a brilliant option for us in the current situation.

His steel and leadership is exactly what we need and splash in a VVD type signing next year.

Zouma next to JT was a beast he just needs someone shouting instructions at him, his pace makes up for Silva’s, plus if zouma plays rcb and Chilwell is LB he has rapid players on each side of him and kante hopefully sitting in front of him. That will be a game changer for us.

Very positive from seemingly every PSG fan in that discussion,  and none of them want him to go, thats very telling.

Seems they are confused why the board are letting him leave and all wanting him to stay says alot

That looks like a side that can challenge.

I was worried about the language barrier but everyone around Silva there and kante In front of him speaks french, including the keeper who is Cameroonian and they speak french. Only  Chilwell doesn’t I assume but I’m sure he he will get the basic few words and adapt and worst case one of the others can relay.

I would be happy with that.

and still there we are good options with mount, James, CHO etc so we do have a good squad.

if all signings go through and they gel. I would expect us to be a top 3 side in the league. Maybe need another year to win it though.

This season will still be a transition, but we have to improve our defending and close the gap between top 2. If we can finish 3rd and the gap to the top isn't too big then thats a good season for us

I agree but after all that spending would Roman agree? He should but history says different

I think 3rd with a good run in CL and a FA Cup/Carabao will be a successful season for us.

Plus there is little chance of us getting all the signings that we need in this 1 window

It came as a surprise to me. While I didn't doubt he'd still be a decent stop gap signing for us, I didn't think for a second he was still that highly rated at his age. All of us a sudden the prospect of getting this deal done has gotten that much more exciting.

Yeah I’m hopeful Roman will go out of his way and activate Oblak’s release clause. That would be the perfect ending to this window.

Or drop the Athletico board an "Oblakhander"

It's been a year and you still call Pulisic Pulasic?

On paper this team is every bit as good as Man Cities and Liverpools. If it gels quickly we have something special.

Really not sure about this one.

SFLs trying to build some team spirit and playing the youngsters, Silva will take a massive salary, find it hard in the premiership, where every game is a big one, unlike France where he coasts every week as PSG are so far ahead of everyone else.

Go with Ampadu / Timori and get a good defensive coach to get Zouma switched on again

I think it makes sense short term so we can go big on a central defender next season. Training with a guy like him might push rudiger to become who he was before this season (see Luiz playing for Brazil with or without him). We should be able to go big for giminez or someone else next summer Without pushing a panic buy this season but have a leader who is still a top defender for a season or two.

It's because we're building a young team that makes this a good idea, especially given no bonafide world class CB is available. Think of it as similar to when we got Eto'o to aid Hazard and Oscar when they were still young.

Actually quite excited about this potential signing ... could be very good for the likes of Ampadu, Guehi, Tomori etc etc, in the same way that JT benefited from having Desailly around !

I have high hopes for Tomori so if he can spend some time learning from T.Silva that would be great.
