A better suggestion, let’s have two coaches, Tuchel for the big games and Frank for the lesser teams.

I'd have Frank visibly take control for games with Spurs and Arsenal just to troll. Or better still - Dennis Wise.

There's probably a good reason this does not happen generally,  the assistants might outshine the manager for one.

Many managers do delegate to assistants for certain things. To cite a couple of examples it was rumoured that Fergie let Quieroz take the lead tactically when they started improving in Europe while Big Sam usually leaves the coaching to Sammy Lee.

I should hope assistents are trusted to take on certain tasks, otherwise what's the point of them. It must be exhausting to be a manager, even with a handful of assistents.

Another good job, I hope he brings big ears and the Fa cup home. I think this is the best we have looked in a long while. You can see tactically he's the best we've had since Conte. No disrespect to Sarri or Lamps but TT is a tactician through and through I don't know a manager that could have done what he has done so far with players he didn't even buy half way through a season.

He's better tactically than Conte for me.

Antonio had a great base structure but was a bit one dimensional and we often got caught flat footed against big teams.

I think it's too early to tell but if we win the FA Cup or the CL then it would be a good argument for him.

I've seen enough to be convinced going forward even if the worst happens in both.

The worry medium/long term is potential board fall outs but I'm totally sold on his coaching and tactical ability.

If you think that Tuchel is a better manager even if we lose the FA Cup and fail to reach the CL final, we can agree that he should win something in the future while he's here simply because he's such a good manager.

Obviously he won't eclipse Conte's legacy if that happens but that's not what I'm trying to say. I'm just making the comparision with their tactical level and for me Tuchel is a level above, the fact Conte repeatedly lost tactical battles to Wenger of all people is a massive black mark.

The top two tactical managers we've ever had in my opinion are Jose and Hiddink (both 1.0), Tuchel is up there with both for me in that aspect.

I've noticed that you don't respect Wenger for some reason at all, I think he made Arsenal a bigger club and that without him they would be, well somewhere around where they're right now. But I want to say this, the fact that we're so close to reach the CL final is a sign that Tuchel did great things already, if there is one particular thing that someone can point out about Conte it's that he never did well in Europe so Tuchel might be showing already that he's a better manager like you're saying.

I'm just saying that with that conclusion I hope we win something with him because it would be a shame not to.

It will be interesting to see how we evolve under Tuchel. At that point we can truly judge his tactical nous. Opposing coaches will be drawing up new plans on how to beat us next season, our change of style mid season has made us more unpredictable and stifled the weaknesses that were targeted under Lamps. He undoubtedly has done a very good job so far.

Chelsea and Arsenal have had some real contest and under Jose the relationship between him and Wenger was unpleasant to say the least and normally with Jose having the last word and right result too.

In the wider context I think Wenger did well to keep Arsenal in the CL for so long.

First time we’ve beaten a ‘lesser’ team in the premier league under TT.

Keep it up

Assume you were simply not paying attention when we beat Burnley 2-0, Sheffield United 2-1, Newcastle 2-0 and Crystal Palace 4-1 in PL games under TT ?

No matter, the more pertinent point is that we now have our 4 remaining games against teams in the top half.

TT's record against top half teams in the PL to date :

Yet to so much as concede a goal !!!

I'm starting to feel more confident about a Top 3 finish, let alone Top 4 ...

I would be more confident of a top 3 finish if it wasn't for Man City away next week.

It’s ok, when teams figure us out we’ll just sack Tuchel and get someone else in. Problem solved!

I think Tuchel made a huge mistake starting Silva against Fulham, surely Rudi would have done fine. Now Silva is going to miss out on Real Madrid or City, no chance he can play 4 games in the space of a week n half. He should have been rested so he could play both of these games.

The following stats will surprise a few people I believe.

r/chelseafc - Attacking Under Thomas Tuchel (Sky)

Created the most chances and shots on target of any teams in the league since he arrived.

A few have claimed it's defensive, no fun kind of football but I have always disagreed with that and the stats do as well.

Yep - we have been doing well, aggressive at times, pragmatic in others,  but usually in control. The issue remains that a large number of people will equate the 13th place for shot conversion to mean that we have not attacked. Which is simply wrong.

I do think we still need to be more progressive and Less happy to push the ball around our defenders (when we are not already leading) - but TT has been transformative.

I don't find it particularly hard to believe tbh.

While we need to do better in regards to truly working opposition keepers more often many times we've got to one more pass/movement till a clear attempt on goal.

Arsenal will be the most obvious game to do mass resting of the untouchables if there has to be one.

Hopefully we can at the very least keep this current gap on Liverpool till then.

Exactly, for the lesser teams like the other poster said 🙂
