Official Thomas Tuchel *Now Sacked*

Featured Replies

I personally don't have any issue with his playing style especially taking into account his tactical awareness especially against the bigger teams and Managers. My concern although is that currently we are grinding out results and doing well but with the pragmatic style of football we play which is focused upon a set defensive shape whether we are in possession or out of possession the moment results start going against him the knives will be out.

This has also been the case with Jose for all his career where his style is accepted when he is winning but otherwise he doesn't have the buffer of an expansive footballing philosophy to fallback on. Tuchel has shown me enough to back him regardless of results as I can see us developing as a team under him and I think he will make us more expansive as he gets more transfer windows to bring in players who are more suited to his style.

Yes can't say I love the football style yet given squad challenges think he is making the best of it.

He's adapted to the personnel and he is doing a mighty fine job currently, don't want to brag about it, but when Lamps was in charge and defence was a shambles, I was wondering maybe three at the back would be a smarter choice, this way you would play to Azpilicueta, James, Kante, Werner and other players' strenghts.

The current setup looks brilliant against big teams no wonder Tuchel has got this incredible record against so many top managers in his short time here, I mean he was right we're a nightmare to play against when it comes to big matches.

But lesser sides... I don't know... It is not my job to choose the formation, Tuchel knows better, but if he continues with the three at the back formation in the next, too, IMHO it is imperative we look more like the Atalanta version of three at the back against small teams, rather than the conservative setup we currently see against big teams. Which I totally agree with.

The problem with the three at the back is you lose an extra attacker, this is not a problem against top clubs, but against lesser ones could be suicidal, if Tuchel sticks to this formation and he finds a balance between playing like he currently does against top sides and a bit more expansive, the Atalanta way, against small ones, I am 100% sure we are going to challenge for the PL title next season.

He has been very effective at gaining results, even when we haven't always looked very fluent on the attacking side. I can understand his approach given the fact he took over half way through the season, and with so much on the line. I think there are definitely games where he could have taken a different approach (e.g. against weaker teams) but those games would be forgotten in the context of bigger victories (e.g cup/champions league). I imagine expectations will increase for the team to entertain more next season, but hopefully he will benefit from a full pre-season to prepare.

None of us will be complaining about the style, finishing or anything else if he and the team get it spot on and win the CL and FA cup. Winning things tends to sooth all complaints lol.

I think tactically we are fine. Our front 3 are the problem in this isolated case imo.

If we had more clinical forwards, we'd be pretty comfortable I'd say

Really think complaints about our style are overblown. Sure, compared to Lampard's kamikaze type of football we are more controlled but yesterday we had 17 attempts and should have scored at least three despite "only" coming away with a 1-0 win.

I'd certainly have no complaints if we look like we currently do next season as well. Preferably with an attacker that's half decent at finishing off the chances and if we manage to get a player like that we would be challenging for the title until the very end and perhaps win it.

Yeah it feels like people are misinterpreting our attackers not putting their chances away with “a non attacking team”.

His style and system is so good this is the best football we have played in a long while. We may not create as many chances per game and score as many as we would like. But, we look solid at the back and with better finishing could arguably beat anyone.

I think he got the tactics and personnel right again, I think Kai will get a start through the middle on Saturday and if he performs will potentially start next week.

Thought it was risky playing the same team as Saturday, first 20+ minutes were amazing, pity we conceded and the level dropped off in the second half partly due to fatigue. Hopefully the "Dave" as wingback thing is a one ( two) off, fair enough we had extra height in the defence, but we still conceded a goal in the set pieces, and there was no threat on the right flank, I dare say it backfired. Have to acknowledge the progress the team made under Tuchel, back in Jan who would have thought we'd be the better team against Real in a CL semi final?

All this team need now is a younger version Benzema, Lewandowski, or Cavani.

I think a creative midfielder is equally important, the number of times we tend to get into promising positions attacking a backline and mess up the final ball is unreal. Kante was guilty of it a few times last night and Pulisic also overhit one for Werner, Fabregas in that position gets it right 9 times out of 10.

Tuchel is doing a fantastic job. Especially when you consider that this is without doubt far from the best collection of players we've had in the Roman era, I think this is the best I've seen a coach get out of what he has to work with at the Bridge. Give him a new contract!

Another big game, another impressive performance.

Question is, can he get a result at the weekend?

It's the games against bottom half of the table opposistion that Tuchel is struggling with.

We've dropped points against Wolves, Southampton, WBA, Brighton and Leeds so it's a recurring theme for the team. Let's hope the trend doesn't continue this weekend.

Werner Hat trick 😎

A win vs Fulham will be huge for our confidence going into a very hard run of fixtures. I hope we get the personnel right and really get a good few goals in. Knowing we can score regularly will be key with the potential for two cup finals. As long as we can defend well and score a minimum of 2 goals a game for the rest of the season then we're in business.

TT has beaten every UCL winning manager he has played, whilst he was denied yesterday I wouldn't bet against him next week.

TT has struggled after midweek matches against some of the lower sides of the EPL and agree we need a win.

I'm glad it is not the early start and hope he makes good team change as some will need a rest..

From a tactical POV this guy is our best since Hiddink 1.0, especially in Europe.

Oh dear why o why Argo did you have to make that comparission especially mentioning Europe right now? Could it  not have waiting till say Thursday next week?

Given Hiddink secured an impressive draw away in spain in a CL semi final against a classico team only for us to get royally robbed at home. Thanks for those memories mate lol...

Even if the worst happens next week i'm sold going forward on that score.

Ever since winning it i've felt we've been years away from doing it again, even getting to the semi under Mou 2.0 i wasn't atall confident. I can't confidently state beyond all doubt TT will deliver us big ears this year or ever as it's a bloody hard tournament to win but i feel for the first time since Guus first time round we can go toe to toe with any team and tactical setup and hold our own.

All well and good mate, the results have given us reason to believe in him going forward.

Still you could have saved your jynx comment until after the semi lol.

I have a suggestion.

Perhaps when playing against lesser opponents, let his assistants take over.

There's probably a good reason this does not happen generally,  the assistants might outshine the manager for one.
