Chelsea v FC Porto (CL) Tue 13th Apr 2021 20:00 GMT

Thankfully that goal came too late for them to put us under any pressure. Could have been nervy if they had scored 5-10 mins earlier. We need to be better at taking our chances on the counter in future though.

Yes! Onto the semifinals of the Champions League.

Over the moon with that myself. Fear it might stop there as we don't produce enough offensively but semi is fabulous.

Mature performance for 93 minutes. Porto is a tough, tough side. Old school football with elbows and kicking players at every opportunity so it was a tough test but we passed it.

Almost can’t celebrate as much as I should we did nothing the whole game, decent defending but ball watch at the end. No control in the middle,  enter in the second half but still need to up the quality for the semis.

That was the most comfortable second leg of a CL tie you could wish for.

Excellent game management.

I don't think we will be calling it that if we play that way against any of the remaining teams, because the only reason why we didn't concede more was because Porto were bang average. Play like that against anybody else and we are going out.

I'll take that. Wonder strike at the end aside, that was a really proffesional performance, that we probably shouldve put some gloss during the second.

Reminded me of a Mourinho or Simeone type of grind. Stubborn defence, gamesmanship, and job done.

Bring on Madrid. Anyones trophy at this stage now.

We are through, but that was a really sh*t. Play like that over two legs against any of the remaining teams and we will be lucky to not receive a hammering.

It's hard to be too critical as we got the job done, but the rest of Europe will hardly be sh*tting themselves after that.

Decision making in the final third and finishing is not good enough.

Well done to the boys all the same.

Going to need to improve a lot if we don't want to get embarrassed in the semi's.

But until then we can enjoy this moment. Reaching the semi's is quite the achievement on its own.

This logic works both ways, play like we did against Atletico and we'll atleast make the final (and have a mental edge over City/Paris for obvious reasons).

Two games are never the same.

Thought we nanaged it well, they had 1 shot on target and no chances bar that last minute wonderstrike. We have City alt the weekend, and we just needed to get over the line. Cant play scintillating stuff every 3 days, some games you need to grind.

I thought we were good defensively.

Offensively we struggled but Porto were literally allowed to kick our players to the ground every time we got past a man. It was like being back in the 70s.

Some games will be remembered as wars. Like Blackburn away in 2004 under Mourinho where we came away with the win.

Today we came away with the result we needed and that's enough.

Based on our quality we should rightfully lose the semi's no matter who we match up with, but with some luck and extra desire anything can happen. There's got to be a majority chance over 50% that we get knocked out though being realistic about it.

We will definitely need to improve significantly to have a chance of reaching the final.
