Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Featured Replies

Potentially could be the worst player we have signed in the Abramovich era. People can bring up names like Torres, Morata, Bakayoko and Shevchenko, but none of them hurt us the way Lukaku has. We have changed everything to try and fit him in, and it's damaged what we were creating under Tuchel. He's an awful footballer that looks out of place in the modern game. He's just a lump with an awful touch.

He's sh*t, Dave scored he turned around, Ziyech passed for an easy tap-in but he didn't bother to extend his leg.

Tuchel, the board, everybody involved in the recruitment of Lukaku f**ked up. I don't know how they didn't see what we could see, it's their job. Fans that thought he was a good signing because he tore up Serie A were simply fooled into believing Serie A is still a top league. It's a lifeless and slow league that is behind the modern standards set by today's game, and that is why Lukaku looked good playing over there.

Not working out clearly.

Selling him and starting over needs to be considered. But the problem is, will anyone be interested for the price + wages? I highly doubt it. Unless we can trick Newcastle in the summer.

Same goes for Werner & Havertz btw. Neither of them are any better but they are all on massive wages.

We basically needs a complete overhaul of our entire attacking line.

For me it's time to put Werner through the middle and give him a run of at least 7 or 8 games.

Don't get me wrong, he  looks utter sh*te as well with Mason Greenwood having a more gentle first touch  but Lukaku has had a good run to up his form and clearly hasn't. It's been a long time since Werner has had the same opportunity and Lukaku has shown nothing to make you think a change has to be worth trying.

Has to be sold this summer, although we will take a loss. Sometimes you have to just suck it up.

What makes this all the worse is that he seems to be one of those players whose appearances are tied into his contract- if that is still a thing, because on form he should be nowhere near the team.

I prefer how we play without him even if we lose, and have no confidence in the last half of the season like this.

We were sold that he would at least put away the small teams, but he isn't, he makes us one dimensional and slow.

It will end up resulting in Tuchel going when it absolutely shouldnt.

Really surprised Lukaku stayed on the full 90 mins.

Looks to me his confidence has gone.

Had chances today, yet was slow to read them or physically not willing to compete.

It is looking like he is going to go the way of Torres or Schevchenko and on a 5 year deal.

Of course we can still play him, he just becomes the decoy.

This is the worst part in all this. He doesn't even do what he was supposed to be good at.

Since his coming back, I was prepared for him to be useless against the best teams if it meant he absolutely bullies the ones in 6th and below.

It's come to the point where Plymouth defenders effectively kept him quiet for 120min.

I've said a few times that I wasn't even that frustrated after Burnley because I enjoyed the game a lot.

When Rom plays I very rarely find games enjoyable. Seeing his name in the line-up sucks up any enthusiasm I have to watch the game.

We really chose to get this guy over Erling Haaland.

Even if Haaland was unrealistic we could've got Vlahovic for half the price if we'd just waited 6 months

As unhappy as I was about us pursuing him in the summer I could never imagine him being THAT BAD. Is it me or does he look overweight again? It definitely looked as if he's late for every through ball because he's slow and fat. And to add insult to injury he has the audacity to complain about service.

I still cannot believe we signed him. I can understand taking a gamble on a young player with top potential, like Havertz. Sometimes it works, at times it doesn't. But by last summer the whole world had a clear idea of what Romelu Lukaku is and what he certainly isn't and never will be. Even at his very best he's not good enough to lead the line for a top side and unless you were in a coma over the last ten years how could you just dismiss all those signs is beyond me.

It's just sheer incompetence. If TT gave his OK, then I'm genuinely shocked because he should have known better. We're a joke and are being rightfully ridiculed for wasting a fortune on a fat lazy donkey.

Fully agree. Spot on

Rightly most of us want him gone. However feasible is that though?

We paid a huge sum for him and he is on club record wages. The club won't let him go for peanuts it is not how we do business.

So who could afford him?

Bayern? - they would not go near him

Juventus? - They just spent a load on a new striker?

Other Italian sides? - No, only loans.

Top PL sides? - they are laughing at us.

Barca or Real? The former has enough problems, the latter is getting Mbappe and Pogba already.

Newcastle? - maybe.

I really think loans to Italy where we pay a lot of his wages are the only way.

Now we've properly Morata'd him what's the next plan? Try Havertz through the middle again?

Morata? That would be a huge improvement. He is a loss mobile and bigger Chris Sutton!

I would love us to play Havertz every game instead of the big waste of space, but either Tuchel or someone on the board won't allow it.
