Apparently Ange wants him and Spurs have approached us.

This is mental. There is another manager who rates Conor. 😱😱😱

Ha ha. Gallagher and Havertz are not Chelsea standard according to the majority on this forum but they have their suitors. Just like Jorginho, the forum didn't like him but he played for every manager regularly when he was here. Ah well the dogs bark and the caravan hopefully moves on.

Given he is the only player that wants to be here I'd be a bit gutted too, and this is coming from someone who thinks he's a lost cause in improving his technical ability.

Think it depends on who else leaves. Kova, Mount may join Kante. Santos comes in, question marks over RLC not Milan deal has collapsed. What about Carney?

If we do make a big name signing, plus Enzo, Plus Santos, and RLC stays maybe Conor us sold as there is no room left.

Much as the lad has heart, watching him again tonight for England just reaffirms it for me. Just not good enough. A squad player at best as he just has virtually no end product.

Possibly our last chance to sell him for a decent fee. The more he plays the more the cat will be well and truly out of the bag.

Really want him to succeed but starting to get that feeling myself unfortunately. At the moment he looks more like a Robbie Savage clone than the second coming of Frank Lampard.

Personally I'd be quite gutted if we sold Gallagher this summer

Not for me, he's never impressed. 8f we can get over 20 million I'd bite their hand off.

Has had plenty chances to impress.

I think first of all it's fair to say no-one impressed last season. But Conor, in my opinion, showed more fight and spirit than almost anyone else in the squad. Secondly, who do you suggest we bring in as a rotation option to replace him who would cost us £20m (the fee you say we'll get for Conor), and be on the same low wages?

Same goes for Hall, RLC, Chalobah, and hell even Ampadu and CHO - I think there's a failure amongst a lot of fans to recognise the role the academy plays in balancing out the squad. We've got PL quality players who cost us £0 (on the books) and are on pretty low wages. No one's claiming they should be starting 50 games a season for us, but they're all more than capable of filling in for injured players, making sub appearances, and being rotation options. Sometimes I think there's a bit of a grass is greener mindset, but it's just not true. Look at some of the backups we've had to deal with over the past decade: Drinkwater, Barkley, Zappacosta, Emerson, Batshuayi etc etc - all worse than our current crop of academy talent, and all on bloated wages which hinder us from signing the marquee players that can be the difference when challenging for titles.

Spot on. We have to use the academy to fill in positions and be rotation options for incoming top players. If we sell them and bring in other players at similar level (or even lower level), what's the point? On top of that, they are players that want to play for us, so keep the likes of Connor, Hall and Chalobah.

Fight and desire is the minimum we should expect. I'm not saying wasn't trying but ultimately just like RLC he isn't at the level we require in midfield. The whole team was garbage last season but we need a better staring 11 to kick on. Connor doesn't get near a top 6 side which is ultimately our aim.

He had a season and didn't look good so we should cash in imo while his stock is still somewhat high

We don't bring anyone in. We give Carney more minutes. Let's be honest he has looked miles better than Conor when played and Carney hasn't had the pitch time Conor had. Bigger, stronger, and way more technically adept.

In a market where Gallagher could go for £35-50m we should definitely sell.

Usually I'd be totally against selling him as like mentioned above we should be filling out our squad positions with academy talent. With the massive investment into talented youth though you have to think Santos/Casadei/Chukwuemeka/Hall could all fill those roles while making £40m on Conor.

Selling Conor or Chalobah is how you end up with the like of zappacosta, drinkwater

That's an easy comment to make but I am not sure how you justify that. Far from it actually,  we apparently have been stockpiling some of the finest young talent from Europe and South America. How are these players to make their mark if inferior players are not moved to make space for them to flourish.

I personally think Gallagher is a solid enough midfielder but just not good enough for where we want to be. If moving Gallagher on gave us an opportunity to see more of Carney or Casadei, Santos or Hutchinson, or any of these talents that are knocking on the door, then I would be more than happy with that.

We are also starting to run a bit light of good solid pros, in their prime to add balance. If we can move on some of our big earners and bring in a couple of reasonably priced, solid 28-30 year olds I would be more than happy.

Haven't watched Chelsea much last season. Switched off to keep my mental health in a positive frame.

When I have seen him he's been trash along with 10 other outfield players so hard to judge.

I would like to keep him. Every club needs that workhorse kivd of player.
