It's depressing IMO. If people can get so hung up untruths about stuff that doesn't matter (eg sports gossip), it is a portent of how terrible we can be when it comes to believing media narratives - such is the power of cognitive bias. Not to get political, but if diehard fans will readily believe that Mason Mount and Levi Colwill are apparently footballing terrorists holding the club hostage, merely on the unsubstantiated accounts of Twitter users, it is proof positive we will also readily swallow misinformation about climate change, politics, or even a pandemic. Contentious, but oh so true, the sheeple will eat the blue grass….
July 6, 20233 yr Talk of letting him leave if he's not 100% invested in us is silly. We can't afford to be reactive when there are so many outgoings as things stand. We can talk of Badiashile and potential for overlaps in development but the reality of the situation is that Thiago Silva is our only guaranteed quality centre half this year, there are plausible doubts about the rest. They may all turn out to be great, they could all be s**t. Even if Levi is unsure, tell him to knuckle down and get on with it (as long as Pochettino wants him). Our contract situation is strong so at worst if we give it a year and it doesn't go exactly how we want, his value wont have depreciated to the point that we can't get a decent fee. His promise to date will be enough to keep it at a decent level.

I always wonder if the whole internets algorithm is completely back to front in promoting negativity, but more than likely its us humans that seek out the bad. As they say bad news sells. It's a sad world in which a video of someone throwing a brick through a window or an article calling everyone an 'ist' or a 'phobe' is going to get more views than anything positive. Who's going to write an article stating that Chelsea, Man Utd, and Mount are all happy with the situation and had a nice meal while discussing the transfer, but more importantly who's going to read it?

In days long since gone, the first we as fans knew about any prospective transfer was when the player was signed or departed and it appeared on the back page if the player was relevant, otherwise it got a small column on the inner pages. Oh for the days when football finished in May and you were chomping at the bit to see your team playing in the Anglo Scottish Cup at the beginning of August! 'Chelsea, Man Utd, and Wilkins are all happy with the situation and had a nice meal while discussing the transfer' Unfortunately it wasn't always good news.

I remember when this double signing was announced on the same day. A major coup at the time. The excitement. Halcyon days
July 7, 20233 yr Given the composure of both I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see Badiashile and Colwill together as a CB pairing given the former has played RCB at the youth set up and several games at Monaco.

As much as people won't like this I feel we may stick to the back three for the short term atleast which means Badiashille can play in the middle and Colwill left.

I think this is a very valid point, as it would also get the best usage out of Silva before we start getting into the heavy schedule of games during the winter months. Even without Europe i would imagine that we will want good cup runs as well.
July 7, 20233 yr Regardless of whether Colwill is going to start for us or not, we need a settled CB pairing at the start of the season that doesn't get chopped and changed. Chopping and changing centre halves never ends up well.
July 8, 20233 yr Im just not comfortable having Silva as an automatic starter. I think the game is passing him by sadly. More than happy to have him as back up but we probably have to move on from him. Great player, love his attitude, but... We need legs and new players to develop understanding among themselves.
July 8, 20233 yr f**k me he's given away a penalty in added on time...... they've missed ! Keeper saves England win !
July 8, 20233 yr Huh 10 mins into 6 mins of added on. Flurry of cards ... Still playing..finished. Colwill was excellent again

July 8, 20233 yr Colwill was tremendous today, not sure that was even a penalty. Worrying that Gabi Veiga one of the players we’re linked with to replace Mount doesn’t even start for the Spanish under 21’s! Edited July 8, 20233 yr by DarkMata

Hope we stay clear personally has his passing metrics are poor, and for a Spaniard that is blasphemy.

He's good enough to complete a cross or slip someone in around the box, but doesn't really see obvious through-balls or complete good long-passes. He doesn't really fit the mould of a typical Spanish player. He's a bit like Mount or Gallagher in that he's great around the box but his passing from deep is woeful for this level. If he improved, he would be a top class player, but he's not going to get the to chance to develop that at a big club as he'd get benched for being wasteful. With a few more years at Celta he could develop into a handy squad option for a big club, to offer something different.

His shrug off of Noni and saying "this guy" apparently is slang for meaning he was being annoyed by Noni, and he should have been showing passion to come back to Chelsea as Noni was.

Not looking good at the moment. Hopefully Pochettino says all the right things and the club don’t mess around with any potential new deals.
