Cesare Casadei

Fully expect him to be in the first team squad when he returns.

He’s already shown how good he could be in pre season. In many ways he looks like the Kai Havertz we thought we’d signed.

That’s a good comparison - many similarities but at certain levels Casadei is showing a great amount of end product.

Manager's job is about results, especially when managing a team aiming for promotion. He'd rather trust a 31 year old proven player, than risk it on a 19 year old prodigy from another club. It's the same risk when loaning out young players , we had many of them back in the Roman days. Now we pay above premium price for youngsters from other clubs, and expect other clubs to help with the development, it's just not going to happen until the player is already at a  high level.

Well said.. the whole policy was doomed from the beginning. There is a reason no other top clubs follow the same route. We would have been better off taking a punt on a couple and sticking them with the U21s initially.

Leicester fans don't seem impressed with his overall game. Reading fans i've spoke to were of the same impression, pretty average football but scores a goal to mask an average performance.

Not just Andre Santos being screwed over by his loan move.

Casadei had options but Leicesters Italian manager went after this loan from the start of preseason and convinced to go to the Championship for what? 87 minute sub appearances?

Santos cannot get a minute in the prem, Casadei only a couple in the Championship. I hope the same penalties and recall clause was put in his loan as it was Santos.

If Casadei cannot get minutes at Leciester, maybe right now he just isn't good enough. Santos case is different as he was joining a team who are known for stockpiling players but Casadei should be able to work himself into the team if he is good enough. It shouldn't be a given that players are guaranteed starting minutes. In Santos case, he isn't getting minutes at all, while Casadei is getting minutes, just not starting because probably right now the manager does not feel he warrants starting over some of the other players who let's face it are all premier league quality.

Leicester are the best team in the Championship by far and did not lose too many key players so was always going to be a challenge to get into the team. He still can get a lot of game time. But Leicester are sitting comfortably at the top, so in this case I can't blame the manager. Casadei was also wanted by Genoa I am led to believe but no guarantee of minutes there also. He was impressive on loan at Reading who got relegated last season and did well in the U20 world cup and looked decent in pre-season, but we have not seen enough from him in a professional environment currently. This loan might show he needs a bit more time before being considered for the first team.

Doesn't seem to be impressing at Leicester. Outside of his goals Reading fans weren't too impressed with his overall game too. Be interesting to see how he turns out in a year or two. Good job we're stocked up on young CM talent so Casadei is probably more a player we was aiming to spin a profit on.

Paid €15m for him which we can all agree is way too steep, not sure anyone bar a PL will be matching those fees so we break even. Can’t see that happening presently.

It's been the wrong move for him to be honest, their starting midfield is a solid premier league midfield. He's up against Ndidi and Dewsbury-Hall for a starting position and they're players who would walk into most mid table premier league team's starting line-up.

One semi-decent loan and we'd double that. One good season with Burnley and we were getting 30M offers for a 22 year old Maatsen with a year left on his deal.

I remember when loan players were simply ways to make up squad numbers on another clubs dime. Loaning players to clubs is not a way to guarantee their development unless CFC owns the club the player is being sent to. Simply saying a player isn't good enough because they dont make the starting team of the club they're loaned too is far too basic. Just because they dont perform at loan clubs, doesn't mean they're not good enough. During pre season many on here were calling for their inclusion to the first team and hailing them as the next piece of tasty bread. not even six months on...

Recall both Casadei and Andrey Santos, find a better fit for both.

A good learning experience for whoever agreed to these poor loan choices.

people weren't complaining about casadei's loan move the first few weeks or so when he was getting games and performing well.

He has since dropped off massively, and many leicester fans aren't happy with his performances as of late which warranted him getting dropped.

To blame the loan for this is harsh when in reality it was down to poor performance

There`s always a responsibly on the player to make these loans work also, its not just so they get some experience in playing, its to see how they handle themselves in another environment, are they able to handle the step up in level etc.

Players sign for Chelsea within the last 12 months, have moved to the UK from childhood homes, to learn a new language and learn new ways of life and cultures. start making friends within the Chelsea squad and are then told they have to go to a new club in an area they didnt want to be because they wanted to sign for Chelsea. So loanee up sticks within six months of arriving at CFC and has to find a new club and the process or re-settling starts again. Being a loanee from any club is really hard. Billy Gilmore was written off by fans for his time in Norwich, wasn't great and their fans turned on him etc... found a home in Brighton and when they're not being spanked look really good as does Gilmore. Currently I'd argue Brightons gain is our loss.

Yes agreed. People were wanting Casadei to be part of the squad this season and that was based on games against U20 players and a couple games in pre-season. He is a decent player but he is up against a midfield of players who have PL experience and most likely right now are simply better players. I never called for him to be part of first team squad as I had not seen enough but I was not convined he was ready for us.

Most players we loan to the championship play from the off and have ended up bonafide prem level players whereas the ones who struggle to cement a place in the first team, for instance the likes of Harvey Vale, Casadei, Lewis Baker, Kasey Palmer, Izzy Brown ended up no more than Championship tier players. Too early to judge Casadei right now for future prospects but yes as it stands he is a decent player but likely just not good enough to play at top level and Leicester's team. We picked the best team in the Championship for him to join and who also will play a very progressive style of football. Maresca is very similar to Pep but maybe he needs a loan to a team who are not as good i.e Swansea like Humphreys did who also play good football. The manager sees him as more of an impact player right now and he needs to keep working hard. Loads of games left but it should never have been a given that he should get minutes because Leicester are a Championship team.

I saw most of the game. He was quality. Should have had two goals. One his fault, shooting straight at the keeper; the other stopped by a great piece of goal keeping.
