August 24, 20223 yr Newcastle are about to get Alexander Isak... I have no idea why we focus on an old Aubemayang.. Isak would fit us perfectly. We need a technical director and a new scouting department ASAP

We need to focus on age and the work done off the ball which is important for the way we play. Jesus has greatly improved arsenal not only by his goals scored but the amount of work he does off the ball to force mistakes from the opposition.

Because the data will tell you Isak wouldn't fit us in the slightest. He doesn't press off the ball, he isn't involved in the team build up whatsoever, and his passing ability is dreadful. On top of it, his scoring record in La Liga is downright pitiful. This seems like another Club X is buying Player Z and as per usual we are overrating Player Z immensely.
August 24, 20223 yr I think Aubameyang will score goals for us (at least 15 league goals anyway if he arrives now), but he really is a short term fix to a long term problem.

August 25, 20223 yr I know it was only a friendly, but he scored a good goal against City last night from a tight angle. Couldn't see any of our duds scoring that...

August 25, 20223 yr 70m € is hardly a coup for him. Newcastle has the luxurious disadvantage in that the very top strikers are rare and the few won‘t go there at the moment. Since they can actually easily afford a scenario where Isaak doesn‘t perform in the PL they can take the punt. They need goals and that‘s nothing Isaak can produce with ease. Good player though that may become a great striker in a couple of years.

No one in our attack scores that goal. The sad thing is only two people in our squad scores that and they are fullbacks Recce and Alonso!!

Haven‘t seen the goal but Aubameyang is a very strong player in the box and quite good with his head - when people complain that we don‘t use James crosses as a weapon any more they should be all over a transfer of Auba - because he would finally be a player that could score from those. Gordon is young, Everton's best player, 50 PL appearances and fits the mould of what we look for. I'd sign neither, but on paper both are worth a similar amount to me

August 25, 20223 yr I wouldn't call Isak a coup for 58M+, he has potential but hasn't delievered that much. Newcastle needs a statement signing, so it happens to be this guy. I wouldn't sign him either, prefer a Tooney or even Wilson going into the deadline week. I bet Barca will drag it on to the deadline day to milk another 4-5M out of us. I don't get it, with the technology at present, why the clubs only meet once a week to discuss the deal? Get on the Zoom or Whatsapp, smash out a deal face to face

There was talk about him being vaguely linked to us then. I just think for the money, there's more chance of Isak scoring goals than Gordon, but who knows. Gordon has talent, but not sure how talented he will become.

Gordon will be responsible for the high energy, ball control type player Tuchel loves. Not to score goals. An upgrade on RLC/Ziyech/Pulisic. We've committed to not having traditional wingers, our width coming from wing backs and players like Mount/Havertz who can play inside behind a striker who can play deep. Gordon fits that mould. I don't agree with that strategy. But hey ho, let's see where this ride takes us.
