August 28, 20223 yr Apparently we have set the end of tomorrow as our deadline for him and Barca to accept our offer or we walk away.

I doubt the intention was ever for him to be a long term signing. If he's 18m and 2 years. That means he's 9m per year, that's how transfers works. It means in a year we could ship him to a club for 4 or 5m at worst case scenario. It retains some value. He remains an asset next summer. 18m and 1 year means it's a massive transfer. One of the issues with fans judging transfer fees and the way the media report them is a misunderstanding of value and how finances work.

August 29, 20223 yr If he would stay at Barca, then he will have to be happy sitting most of the time on the bench with Lewa being their first pick.

August 29, 20223 yr Chelsea have reservations over signing Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, and the Anthony Gordon move is looking unlikely. - @David_Ornstein

Is it some sort of grand intrigue to force the Americans out and bring back Roman? Those are perhaps the only two reservations that make any form of sense.

It’s just been in the news that armed thugs broke into his home, beat the sh*t out of him in front of his wife and stole jewellery from their safe before fleeing in a white Audi. Yep, great lifestyle and culture over there… If that doesn’t make him want to come back to London, nothing will…

August 29, 20223 yr I do think we need a bit more up front. Other than Stirling there just isn't the goal scoring track record right now. Havertz will get more but with CHO sure to leave, Broja injured every second day and really only mid table standard based on last season its not quite enough. Maybe Mount will start to score a few.

August 29, 20223 yr According to who else but Romano this deal is not dead. Still sounds like it’s not all that healthy either.
August 29, 20223 yr Just tell Barca to get f*. Sign Zaha, or approach Ronaldo to put in a transfer request, there are other options even for this time of the year
August 29, 20223 yr Sky Sports agreeing with Fabrizio on this one. Issue is Barcas fee and contract length apparently. I reckon deal is dead: " Chelsea remain hopeful of lowering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s demands in time to sign him even though the deal has been complicated by an attack on the Barcelona striker, according to The Telegraph. Aubameyang and his wife were struck in the face in front of their children during a violent armed robbery in the early hours of Monday morning. Despite having just turned 33, Aubameyang is asking for a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge, which Chelsea are not prepared to offer. The Premier League club have also not met Barcelona’s asking price of £25.6m but this is believed to be less of an issue. Aubameyang is understood to be keen on the move and salary is understood not to be an issue."
August 29, 20223 yr Tuchel wants more players, what coach doesn't and I think there is pretty much universal agreement that we need more strikers. With so little time left in the window its either this or maybe Zaha. Auba is crazy going for 3 years if that is the case. If he is keen on the move and salary is not an issue as is generally reported I doubt if 3 years is really the stumbling block. I think moving alonso and the price barca want are also issues. Barca still have pressures. According to Marcotti the registering of Kounde was done by a supporter guaranteeing Barca would meet the requirements but they still have to do something, they haven't sold Depay etc. We also want to loan CHO and we can't do that unless we have striker reinforcements. To me it still looks like there is a fair chance of this happening.
