Always going for has-beens instead of actually scouting for emerging talents. When was the last time we scouted a player who eventually grew into the team? Most of the players we sign these days are either overhyped or over the hill. We might as well scrap the scouting department if this is how we recruit players. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Aubameyang at this point as the team is in dire straits, but it's a serious indictment on our player recruitment over the years. Spot on.
September 1, 20223 yr Aubameyang is a decent short term solution though to fill the gap we require. If he hadn't of played for Arsenal I think some would have a better opinion on this potential move. The striker we should go for long term is Vlahovic, the guy is quality.
September 1, 20223 yr Chelsea on verge of agreement to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona. Latest bid ~€7.5m + Marcos Alonso. (via @David_Ornstein) #CFC #FCB

(via @David_Ornstein) #CFC #FCB well that sounds a lot better than the terms being pushed by Barca's sources. important to get Alonso off the books too. not exactly excited by this - highlights a clear lack of planning and scouting. that said, at least it gives Broja a shot to still make an impact - who knows, he might turn into something quite special
September 1, 20223 yr Hopefully we can get this over the line but to be honest I still think we need another winger to help with the goals. Leao would be ideal but Zaha would be a great second option.

I don’t think he is especially on a 2yr + 1 year option. Next season we will potentially have Koulibaly, Mendy, Silva (won’t be surprised if we extend his contract), Jorginho, Kante, Aubameyang & Azpi in their 30s with potentially 6 of those starting. If he doesn’t win something in the next 2 seasons, it will have been futile exercise. The 2 benchmarks in the league haven’t signed an over 30yr old player since 2016. I keep seeing he is building something, are we trying to run a retirement home?

The fan base is fickle that is for sure. This is Bohely's first year and personally I think he has done a good job. I can agree we haven't sorted out the midfield properly but then neither have Liverpool. Everyone knew, or at least they should have that Kante was injury prone and Kovacic is a big unit and has generally not played 90 minutes game after game. It was previous management that bought werner and pulisic and even havertz and ziyech and you can argue as many now do that its Tuchel's fault none of them perform but I don't really think it is. Previous management just didn't build the team up the right way and it takes time to fix it.
September 1, 20223 yr For £4-5m, that is a great signing. Much better than the £20m that was previously being quoted.

It sounds like 10m plus Alonso, which for me is great business and shows that the negotiations and pushing to the final day was the right tactic. We love to say panic buying, but we've wanted Auba for a few weeks, he's our first choice in the absence of any world class options, and we are getting him for what I think is the right price. As long as Barca don't last minute shaft us, which I can see happening.

They thrived before they arrived, that's why we bought them; get here they generally turn to sh*te..when players leave they tend to thrive again. Whether that's because the expectation is too high at CFC I'm not sure, some can take on the challenge some fail miserably. Maybe the last batch we bought were weak minded from the outset BUT the coaching and tactics play a big part in the outcome. TB/TT needs to get this ageing midfield and pathetic forward line sorted out, that's his job, we are all hopeful he can do it w/o sacrificing a European spot; whether PEA is a stop gap or like Giroud a pleasant surprise no doubt we will find out.
September 1, 20223 yr X News #Aubameyang: Agreement in principle between #CFC and Barcelona. €12m transfer fee plus Marcos Alonso! Flight to London is planned at this stage. Should take place in the next hours. Medical planned for today. @Sky_Marc @SkySportDE 🇬🇦
September 1, 20223 yr Looks a good deal for us. Lots will say PEA is a pace merchant, but frankly he is an incredible finisher proven in the Premier League in a team with a slow ponderous attack. A combination of Sterling and PEA will add the goals we need.
September 1, 20223 yr Update from Ben Jacobs a few moments ago: Aubameyang deal is virtually complete. Chelsea have already scheduled a medical for this afternoon. Rafael Leao won’t be possible unless Chelsea pay the €150m release clause. Milan have told this to Chelsea three times now. Edson Alvarez remains the priority after Aubameyang.
September 1, 20223 yr According to Romano its a two year deal, which seems about right to me. I cant see what's wrong with this it isn't an expensive buy and he has some goals in him. I will bet he does quite a bit better than Shevchenko, or Higuain or Eto and I hope he does as well as Giroud who many panned as an Arsenal reject.
September 1, 20223 yr 2years with Alonso going the other way is a decent deal. We need a finisher simply as even if it’s for two years until we find the next long term target for a striker.

Obviously as it was Fergie it was a genius move, pretty much on a par of the Wright brothers inventing flight.
September 1, 20223 yr Done deal it seems for about £10 million + Alonso. Good deal that in my opinion. Ideally we would have been able to bring in another winger but Sterling and Auba both improve our attack by a lot so excited about that.
September 1, 20223 yr I’m happy with Auba, we are desperate for a striker but I still have concerns about his attitude. I hope it won’t become an issue.

September 1, 20223 yr Chelsea and Barcelona have now reached an agreement in principle for Pierre Aubameyang! €14m fee plus Marcos Alonso to Barça included — now finalizing details. #CFC Aubameyang is expected to fly to London in the upcoming hours, once details are resolved. €14 and Alonso was a high price.

September 1, 20223 yr Assuming this signing is completed he is expected to be out for 3 weeks or so with broken jaw right? So maybe Liverpool at home Sept 18th, but realistically could be Palace away in October before we see him play. At least he will have some time to settle in if that is the case.
September 1, 20223 yr 3-6 weeks out with an injury? More of a crack in the jaw than a break. . .apparently. We have done our bit to help out Barcelona financially. We now have an injured 33 year old striker. So everything is looking rosy. lol.
September 1, 20223 yr I have no problem with this signi because we lose cho, rom n timo. But if we start auba over Borja then I will start throwing tantrum at Tuchel
