September 1, 20223 yr He’ll be able to get another hair transplant now with the improved wages. Think he’ll be a decent stop-gap for us, especially with the relationship he has with Tuchel.. with his Arsenal links it doesn’t feel like a Chelsea Signing but I suppose neither did Giroud at first.

That's pretty much the only supply line he will get here, as we very rarely play balls in behind. Hopefully he still has that finishing ability, movement, and can use his experience to get on the end of things. There are a lot of goals in that video. That's the first thing and probably the most important and I agree about the aerial presence. People keep banging on about his age which is kind of fair enough but as I pointed out pages ago he is the same age as Lewi and younger than Benzema. I appreciate there are many fine judges of a player on this forum far more knowledgable than me but I personally am very hopeful of this signing. To me its kind of like Werner with finishing ability.
September 1, 20223 yr Hope he has another number in mind… 😯🤔 chalobah has his Arsenal number and Sterling has taken his Dortmund number 17.
September 1, 20223 yr I've wanted him at Chelsea for a long time and thought we really missed an opportunity not bidding for him before he joined Arsenal. Better late than never I suppose, at least he still looks quality.

September 1, 20223 yr I can only wish him the best of luck, I have a horrible feeling he is going to need it.

That Aubameyang, Lewandowski, Benzema, Messi, Neymar, Salah are all 30+ and still among the top goal threats in world football is more an indictment of the sheer lack of quality strikers out there as much as anything else. You've basically got a decade-long generation gap between the above and the likes of Haaland, Mbappe etc. I've watched him in La Liga this year and he's still sharp and agile in his movement around the box. While he is obviously not as quick as he was, you have to remember he has gone from "unquestionably the quickest player in world football" to "merely one of the fastest players in world football". He is still fast enough to pin back defenses and unlike Werner, he can actually beat a defender on the dribble. The thing that's made Aubameyang so good though is not his pace, it's ability to finish in the box. He is an outlier because his pace and dribbling ability necessitate defenders playing narrower and deeper to compensate, conceding room out wide for other players to pick crosses. The same explosiveness gives him great aerial ability in the box and you can see this by the sheer numbers of goals he competes for/scores with his head. One only needs to look at Liverpool to see how successful this can be in the EPL. Aubameyang was the archetype for Mane, Salah, now Diaz and Carvalho - all fast, tricky wingers who are excellent in the air despite their physical size. I'm really happy about Aubameyang, one of my favourite players to watch over the last 10 years. We don't need him to be a world beater because sadly at this stage someone who gives us 10 League goals is a marked improvement on the rest of our forwards.

Is Aubamyang still one of the top goal threats in the world though? Last 2 seasons have shown a massive decline from his usual numbers
September 2, 20223 yr I remember seeing him when he first rocked up at Dortmund, just deadly and lightning quick, reminded me of a Prime Eto or Henry, so pleased to see him here.
September 2, 20223 yr We'll be fine, Roman packed that shirt number curse in Lukaku's handbag before he went!
