Felix, Mudryk, James, Chilwell (if fit), Zakaria, and hopefully a top CM brought in I am slightly optimistic against Dortmund.

Aren’t players cup tied again in CL or did that rule get changed as I am sure Mudryk and Felix has played CL this season?

If this week should of taught Graham Potter anything is that he’s not at Brighton anymore and that anything connected with Chelsea will be negatively spun by the media.

The sooner he can get his head around that the better for him personally I think.

You only need to look at the how differently the Mudryk and Trossards signings have been done in many places. Mudryk - full value. Trossard - initial value, no mention of add ons. its just hilariously blatant.

I am expecting an upward curve in performances from this point on, it feels like it should be anyway.

Injured players are returning, new signings will provide competition and an ability to drop underperforming players.

More importantly, Potter has a whole week off with the players and basically has a 2 week break now with no games.

No excuses now.

Still to early. New signings usually need time to bed in. And long term injuries need gentle handling on their return, as we well know. Arguably the most important player we need back is Zakaria, (or Kante), and he is still a few weeks from coming back.

I’m not expecting us to be the finished article. I think there will be an upward curve in performances and hopefully results.

We’re only playing one game in 3 weeks so it’s not alot. Plenty of time for coaching, rest and settling in time.

What he can't say is that he has not been backed ....

Eye watering amounts of money, some of which spent on players I have never heard of!

I have been an advocate of investing in up and comers (rather than fully fledged superstars), but I am more than a little worried about how signings from the dutch and ukrainian leagues will fit it. Will be fun to watch.

Especially as the philosophy and approach used at Brighton which presumably made this set up attractive to TB was mining the south American players from Ecuador for example. Are any of these actually from recommendations from Potter and his team?

Beat the scouse today and none of it matters.

Not quite as much of a decision as that twitter post would have us believe.

Broja, Sterling and Puli Injured, Felix Suspended, Auba not getting a look in, nee bloke from psv not really trained with us yet.

That leaves Kai, Ukrainian lad, Fofana, and Ziyech.

They were far worse than the last time we beat them at Anfield when Fabinho was playing CB.

League is dead anyway. Genuinely feel with everyone fit we always have a chance in the Champions League, particularly with a favorable draw.

Masses of injuries and our new signings are both young and coming from different leagues. We can't expect to just march on with wins.

Our squad is not full of 28 year old Prem experienced players like City has for example.

This season will be up and down till the end.

A point at Anfield is always a good result.

It is yes. But we should have won.
