Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

I am glad he's supported in the market this January. Felix is coming in so that's two attackers and one CB brought in for him. And it sounds like a rightback and quite possibly a midfielder is coming in as well.

So that is good news. But with that it's also time to walk the walk so Potter will run out of excuses quick if we don't see great improvement.

We are also investing £15 million in a player for a 4 month loan. So it's not just about building for the future is it...

Yep, this smacks of our usual January panic loan. Extremely expensive given we have no option to buy and rumours that Atletico want to extend his contract a year before allowing him to leave.

I am very surprised myself.

Seems to go directly against the entire "process" us supporters are supposed to have such faith in. Because this is neither fish nor fowl.

He better be a Potter idea, and all the other accusations we get this window, the fans will label all new players as Potters players, so he better make sure these are the right players.

Or are we just going to amass a bunch of players without his input and guidance i just do not see the point in backing him.

There's no such thing as Potter idea, they work in a team. However they almost certainly have a veto and almost certainly make suggestions. The whole point of appointing Potter was that he'd at least sit in those meetings and engage.

But no manager is going to turn down a 6 month loan for Joao Felix.

Ancelotti has no track record of squad building, he would be a disaster in our current condition. If we were ever to consider this reunion it would have to be when we're back competing again.

I don't know if getting him would even be a remote possibility but if the time comes and there's simply no way back for Potter I would sound out Stefano Pioli, he's basically risen Milan from the ashes.

I have absolutely zero expectation that Ancelotti would return - unfortunately 😉

The coach can only control what he can control. At this moment he is working with players who are relatively unknown to him. He needs to rotate all the time with injuries and these injuries are happening to our core players. Thank heavens Silva, KK and Azpilicueta are fit. Same goes to Kepa.

Now there is no denying we need to do better on the pitch. We still have pretty strong squad compared to most sides in the Prem.

My idea of trusting Potter is to find a good moment where we find start to form an identity, system, core of players and squad being pretty healthy. This could well be in the next month.

I am very happy Zakaria has risen to the occasion.

After we have started building foundations we can start repeating things on the field. That leads to victories and good spirit.

Us fans should realize we are in a very different environment as we were under Roman. New owners, new era.

Priority signings won't want to come if this season is a shambles. Players need to see what you're doing before buying into what you're trying to do.

Everyone knows he needs time, it's just a matter of how much time. Here's a reminder of our current form

34 shots on target across the last 10 games

6 goals scored for us in the last 10 games

During the ten games we went 4 games in a row without scoring a single goal

7/10 games failed to score a single goal

1 clean sheet in last 10 games

2 wins in last 10 games

How much time? The chappie that took over at Brighton has had less time. And got them scoring loads of goals!
Last season everyone saying how well Brighton were playing but couldn’t score. We on the other hand we’re scoring.. now we’re not!
I’m not super smart, and often wrong…but is Potter trying to play pretty football too much. Get the damned ball forward quicker. Give the forwards something to run on to. It’s several times more productive than passing the ball back and square several times before losing it and being caught on the hop.
Bloom the Brighton Chairman must think we are his personal Charity. Sold us Potters contract for millions. We sold him Lamptey for peanuts, he’s running amok now in the Prem… Fastest thing since Boult!
Then to rub salt into it all. Potter convinces Todd to splash out (£60+Mill and add ons) for the hairy full back that runs around like a man possessed! Think I’m more pizzed off than I’ve ever been with the club. ☹️

I guess the Felix signing is designed to boost us, help us gets some wins and give them enough rope to keep Potter so we don't go on an even large run of few with and lots of losses and draws.

I dont really get this signing

We are paying so much money for a 5 month loan deal with no chance of signing him, why?

So my understanding about the Felix deal is there was no buy option, but our relationship with Athleti is strong. Supposedly there will be no obstacles were we to make this deal permanent in the summer.

I suspect Felix will play left wing, Havertz through the middle and Ziyech on the right until Sterling is fit. Come the summer Nkunku is added to the mix, the club will need to then shift Pulisic and Ziyech to make room for another winger and potentially a striker if we fail to secure one this window. Providing all parties are happy there is no reason Felix won't sign permanently it all depends how the loan goes, our future plans and Athelti's coaching decision.

Ironically I'd rather we take Simeone and let them keep felix. If we can't score let's go back to our old strat which is you're not allowed to score either. See Simeone's legendary 442 up close and personal with 6 atb 😂

Jokes aside though if Simeone is available, despite falling off from the title picture this and last season. I would seriously take a look at him if I was Boehly, you want a long-term project there's a guy who took Athleti through a long-term project and pretty much as far as they could go. I believe it was 2 league titles, 2 Europa leagues a few cups and a couple ucl runner up medals. I'd take that all day long, only thing is his football can be quite boring but I'd take boring boring Chelsea right now over whatever this Boehly/Potter mess currently is.

I don’t see it as a potter idea which is part of the problem with our club for years managers recommend but it seems people above make the final say.

Potter out.

People pretending Boehly is building for the future with this 31% career win rate absolute turkey of a manager is kidding themselves and needs to take a look at our transfer Policy.

Auba, Sterling and Koubliably on big money contracts as well as a £11m 6 month loan with no option to buy is not the pinnacle of long term planning.

The whole idea that we're focusing on the long term is pure Copium by people refusing to accept how quickly we've buggered up the club in the short term since Boehly came in.  His Yes man manager being the prime example of it.

If that is the case why no buy option if our relationship with them is strong?

We also had a strong relationship with Benfica until recently.

I'm guessing we don't know what our squad will look like come the summer so in terms of attacking reinforcements we're probably reluctant to commit especially since Nkunku joins, Sterling and Broja come back from injury.

Also I don't think felix wants a perm deal before sussing out what we're like first he has time to run for the hills if it doesn't work out 😂

Simone is leaving Athletico at the end of the season apparently.

Maybe that explains the Enzo interest. To be coached by his Argie idol at Chelsea?

Lot of things line up in this.

1. Potter is safe regardless of results at least for now.

2. We do DS a favour by taking Felix away.

3. No buy option for Felix because he does not want to work with DS.

4. No comp to pay for DS.

5. Enzo gets to be coached by legendary Argie Midfielder.

No he isn't. He's started one league game all season despite being fit for the entire of it.

Simeone is a defensive coach I thought one of our big grumbles about TT was playing the ball back and forth across the back in like a U-formation.

Surely we need a coach that will make us play in a more entertaining manner and if Potter can't make it then perhaps Pochettino would tick the boxes to make us competitive again and more attacking.

I'm also wondering with Felix whether that means Gallagher will go on load, a hard working player though lacks a little quality on the ball for me.

A £9m loan fee while steeper than usual isn't that far removed than usual for his standard of player.

Sevilla paid 3m less for Martial.

Luis Enrique is currently the only world class manager available, Atletico will most likely go after him; Felix will be licking his lips at that prospect.

I know it’s hypothetical at the moment but appointing Simeone would be a massive step in the wrong direction. If he was to come here it should’ve happened in the 16/17 season when his stock was at its highest.

Football in England has moved past ultra defensive coaches. The game has evolved beyond defence first type football. Same thing happened to Jose, and same thing has happened to Simeone. If Potter is sacked in the summer I really hope Simeone is nowhere near the job.

I’m not very sure I’d be able to endure Simeone’s brand of football to be honest, but he’d surely kick some bollocks in the dressing room and players would not dare to be so soft on the pitch.

Zidane is the answer.
