Season Expectations for the new manager

Featured Replies

When Lampard was sacked we were half way through the season and 10 points off the top 4. Most people still expected Tuchel to get Top 4, he did that and people still weren't sold on him until he won the Champions League.

Right now we're 6 games into the season and only 3 points off the top 4. So surely the bare minimum has to be top 4 finish right? Along with a strong showing in all the cups.

Should anything less mean the sack?

Expectations for me remain the same.  Top 4 finish and get out of the group stage of the Champion's league.

Top 4 finish being the most important.

Expectations - a lack of goals, creativity and quality in the final third and people to blame the new manager for Pulisic and Ziyechs complete lack of talent and inability to play at the highest level.

Just as they did Tuchel, Just as they did Lampard.

Tuchel set the bar didn't he? So if its Potter, Top 4 finish, Champions of Europe and a FA-Cup final.

What was the point otherwise? Tuchel was good enough to do that, if he's replaced the replacement needs to be just as good if not better.

We expected top 4 from Tuchel, and at least last 8 in CL, anything else is a bonus, that's minimum expectation.

Our expectations must either remain the same or we should expect better, like a push for the top 2 and semi final CL.

Why would you change manager and lower expectations ?

now be realistic. We are playing awful. 30% of the team is new and there has been much turmoil. We are currently 6th (I think). Potter has no experience of the workings of a big club, he has not dealt with the same level of ego's, and those ego's will be vocal when he walks in. There is no DoF and no doubt he will be expected to chime in on that again doe she have that experience?

Honestly I was hoping for top 4 with Tuchel but in the back of my head 5th. With TT there is that xfactor he can turn it around, he has done it. With Potter there is nothing to tell me we wont slide further and given the additional turmoil I wouldn't be surprised. Hence I expect us higher than 10th as an expectation.

So if your saying minimum 4th Potter isn't the man. Hey you never know maybe it will be more Harry Potter than Harry Plopper.

But its a f**king huge gamble.

Lampard had less experience, no transfer window, but got top 4.

Don't start making excuses for him already 😅

HE was Frank f**king Lampard

That was sort of less of a gamble as we had the ban. But yeah it turned out well, although brown pants at the end of the season. Like I said you never know its just a huge gamble.

A better product on the field than what was served to us at the end of TT’s reign. A man manager, the ability to connect and fire up the team, despite the occasion - be it CL group game, or an away match on a cold and rainy November evening. Grit. Determination. Flexibility and fluidity. Top 4 is a pipe dream if we don’t get our **** together and play as one committed unit.

Spot on. I'd add adaptability. To be able to recognise when something isn't working and the sense to change it. To play players in thier best positions. To support any inexperienced youngsters YOU decided to put into the team by having enough self-control that you don't throw a touchline tantrum when the kid doesn't play a pass you feel he should.

Top 6 does it for me if we see team spirit, effort and more adventurous football.

Good attacking football that actually ends in scoring some goals

Playing players in their best positions and use tactics that bring them all together in a cohesive unit

Finding or recruiting a REAL leader on and off the pitch

Bring his Scouting team with him (it will save us a fortune)

Identify and eject the players with negative attitudes or a wish to be somewhere else (WE all know who they are)

If we do most or all of the above, success will follow 💙💙💙
