Our performance at buying such players is at best sketchy, and the long line of failures (Morata, Torres, Lukakau, Bakayoko, Drinky, Kepa etc) stretches far beyond the list of successes. So, if moving for players like this, unknown and unproven, is a mechanism to see us explore moving away from the ready made superstar, then that for me is a good thing. This week we were linked with 120m + for enzo fernandez. As good as he may be/become, we should be getting players like that earlier, for the same prices that they go for to the likes of Benfica. Hopefully we have already for that Santos fella.

December 30, 20223 yr Seems like Hudson Odoi a bit to me... kind of places shots and never really lets it rip
December 30, 20223 yr Jose's way was to put the new guys on the pitch for 10 minutes very early on in their CFC career and then send them off to development or wherever until they made his cut. Kind of gave them a sniff of the real thing, enough to keep em going for a bit. It's great to get some info from someone who's actually watched him on a few occasions. Must say I thought Auba would do better than he has done.
December 30, 20223 yr Let's hope he's good enough to get some game time and prove himself, we have already spent quite a bit of money on young talents who have seen almost zero minutes in the league. With the other players we are being linked with and inability to offlload players, we could have a team of 50 players next season.
December 31, 20223 yr Author This deal and conversation brought to mind the idea Boehly and co will do; buy satellite clubs from Belgium, Portugal and Brazil. When we have those in place these young lads get to play as much as they need in good level leagues against grown men. We don't have to worry about situations like DeBruyne, Salah, Tomori, Guehi, Tammy and so on. We will have a say on whether those lads either are good enough for the first team or valuable enough to be sold on for profit. It is a little bit of unfair situation for other clubs but as long as it is not prohibited we will absolutely do that.

January 2, 20233 yr If our current starters have a shocker against Man City I've got no problem with whacking players like new Fofana, Badiashile, Hutchinson, Chukwemeka, Casadei and Andrey Santos straight into the starting line up.
January 2, 20233 yr To be honest if this guy could come in straight away and play as well as our existing players it would reinforce the main issue that I have. If a guy from a Norwegian league is as fit as our first team squad then that would be a damning indictment. This guy should stay with the squad and not go on loan, but should spend a month on an intense fitness programme developing his cardiovascular conditioning and sprint energy for sustained periods. Then we should look to bring him in. There needs to be a boot camp set up behind the scenes so the players not involved on the pitch are developing their fitness levels so they make a difference when they come. Gallagher, in fairness, is energetic but whether he can do that over 90 mins is questionable. If he was tip top fit then he could replace Mount during a game and hold the position, allowing Mount to develop behind the scenes as well. It's too bl00dy country club here
January 7, 20233 yr 15 & 11 were available, both former Didier numbers of course, but he’s decided to take the number 27. Suppose it takes pressure off.. but not a fan of players avoiding traditional 1-11 numbers but oh well, might be a total flop anyways knowing our luck 😅
January 7, 20233 yr Welcome! I’m all for the young signings assuming they will get more of a chance. Also, last time we had two players with the same surname it worked out well (Cole), so that surely means Fofana’s will dominate both ends of the pitch.
January 7, 20233 yr Get him straight in when he’s fit enough. He’ll do a better job than Havertz & Auba

January 8, 20233 yr Of all the young prospects, he and Zakharyan are the ones I am the most excited about.

January 8, 20233 yr Watched him closely and he made about 10 runs off the shoulder of the defender and what do we do pass it back to Kepa FFS. Edited January 8, 20233 yr by El regreso
January 8, 20233 yr I Don't Know Why, But We've Done That For Years, Forwards Make Good Runs In Behind Only For Us To Pass It Back, Werner Was A Prime Example, Multiple Runs Made In Behind But Hardly Received A Pass Just Went Backwards To The Defenders Or Keeper

Eventually they stop making the runs, lose confidence, and then we blame the striker. Costa is seen as the one exception to 'we've had sh*t strikers since Drogba' but it's not a coincidence that he had Fabregas and Hazard to feed him the ball.
