April 1, 20233 yr Regardless of whether Potter stays in post or not it's time we accept this season, bar the CL, is over and we look to next season. That means moving Kovacic and RLC put of the first team. I'd probably add Mudryk, Cucurella and Havertz to that as well but I can't see Mudryk being sold in the summer so we need to stick with him to an extent and we have so little other options up front that Havertz will still be needed. Cucurella will be kept as well. Fernandez will be on other club's radar and you wouldn't blame him for wanting to quickly escape what must be feeling like a terrible career move.

April 1, 20233 yr Andy Townsend always has it spot on in his commentary and expresses how the fans feel. Why play James in CB when we have badashile who really doesn't need that much rest since he iasnt in the CL squad.

April 1, 20233 yr Just can't wait for the post match presser, just as well replay a few from the past few weeks... 'I thought we dominated the game but the two goals we gave away won them the game, we should have done better' 'Villa are tough opposition, a really good side' 'The lads tried hard and we pushed forward but unlucky not to score' ' A similar game as Everton, we started well, faded, had no clue in front of goal and allowed them to score' ' We are working on it, the process is difficult' 'I think the International break didn't help so I was forced to make changes' ' ..but we have to get better' 'the lads and owner believe in the process, so I'll be around for a while' '...yep, season is pretty much shot and I don't have much hope against Real' ' Yes I've managed to mold this billion dollars worth of players to Brighton standards and keep us safe from relegation'...

He sacked one of the best managers on the planet in TT, brought in a mediocre manager (who's proving his mediocrity with decisions like playing one of the best RWBs in the sport in a back 3, with 2 CBs sitting on the bench, and continuing to play C2). He spent crazy money on unproven players, gave the mediocre manager a stupidly long contract, and is sticking with him despite the fact that all signs point in the direction of "this man is in way over his head". Hopefully we'll move on from Potter soon. But Boehly will still be the owner. The perils of being taken over by Americans. Spot on Boehly is the problem, evidently got a massive ego and is unwilling to accept he's got it wrong. What we'd all give to have Roman again.

April 1, 20233 yr If Potter gets the sack tomorrow, it would be the first time in 30+ years as a supporter that I felt the sacking was not harsh and premature. Edited April 1, 20233 yr by bluedave
April 1, 20233 yr f**k me this is so pedestrian. You cannot rely on players like Felix and Havertz to get you back in a game. Said at the beginning, with this iffy defence Potter selected, we would need three today and that ain't ever gonna happen with PotterBall. \nice bloke and all that, but he has to go.

He knows the system (based on red bull) and knows the sporting director . Don't know much about him but the connections you mention would certainly be an advantage. I reckon Potter is maybe safe this season based on Todd's plans etc. After the sanctions then the sale of the club to billionaires I thought we were over the worst. How wrong
