So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

Featured Replies

Nizaar reporting Pochettino wants to build an identity at the club revolving around Mount, Gallagher, Colwill and James. The Telegraph reporting it's a little too late regarding Mount and that the club have plans to sell.

Now until July 1st will be very interesting.

very happy that its Pochettino we have for now, hes the ideal person to sort of stabilise the team again and build a good foundation. His serial loser gene will never leave him, so once he has done his job of building a good foundation in the next 1-2 years we can upgrade to someone like De Zerbi

At the moment going for the big names isnt going to help, we need a proven manager that can build and lay foundations

Don't want to compare and contrast the owners but when Roman got the special one it was a watershed moment, it defined our new identity, we were going to be hated and win a sh*t ton of silverware a mischief of magpies couldn't lift, the gerodie bar stewards today won't ever lift with Saudi blood money..

so, Im not exactly giddy with the appointment of Pochettino. I will hold my breath and hope it all goes well. up da chels..

Apparently Roman looked at Pochettino twice but the timing wasn’t quite right both times. That gives me faith we’re on the right path with Pochettino. Also, coming from PSG, Chelsea will feel so much more relaxed.

He has overachieved at Soton and Spurs and improved many many players. I’m excited to see what he can do with this squad.

One word of warning though. It took Pochettino 18 games for things to really get going so it might take a little while.

At the risk of boring you all to death, Who do you think that Pochettino will establish or sign as our "Leader" on the pitch?  We continue to miss a tough, uncompromising player who will fight for everything, all of the time. Can Rice be that man ??

Even though he just came, I think Enzo has the potential to be a leader for the team. James as well if he can start staying fit.

I agree. Personally, I don't like Pochettino. However I think that he is the only person, at this moment in time, that can pull us together atleast and form some kind of beneficial structure for us.

Exactly. He is the manager that potter should have been, in terms of hes there to help steady the ship and lay a foundation and help sorting out the squad, and once that was done we upgrade to a top class manager. Unfortunately due to specific circumstances (not all potters fault) it didnt work out, and now Pochettino is in charge of that job.

I dont see Pochettino as a long term appointment, hence why the rumours are its a 3 year deal, possibly even 2 with an option as I think he will never be good enough to be at the top top level. But for a rebuild job, he is a great appointment

Read this somewhere else’s also most of this lot don’t like running and haven’t ran much since Potter took over.  Going to interesting to see how they react to being told you have to run!!!

If we’re winning the players will run. If we struggle the players won’t. Any high intensity manager has to get results or the wheels really come off

Thanks @evissy I will never tire of posting this:

Declan Rice forced to apologise for 'Up the Ra' comments ...

Let it go Liam. He knew Brexit was coming and like a lot of other people who were pissed they were no longer going to be EU citizens, had to do whatever was necessary to get his name on an Irish passport.

I don’t care about anything else. But Pochettino need to make us play like City now or prime Spurs when he was there. Direct, creative and penetrative. No other style matters. Pep style wins hands down no matter what anyone says.

KDB had an interview recently regarding Pep. He said during training, there are 2 specific things Pep drills them rigorously at.

1. Positioning when pressing.

2. Building out from goal kicks.

The proof is in the pudding. City have genuinely mastered the press and building out from the back to a point where you can't better them. You just have to hope they slip up defensively.

There's no questioning the effectiveness and brilliance of Peps teams, but damn they are boring to watch.  Don't think I've ever been as unentertained watching a team decimate someone by 4 goals.

Weird phenomenon fat pro footballers. Micky Quinn and Thomas Brolin spring to mind. Alan Mayes was no twinkle toes either

Saw Quinn score a diving header against us, how he got off the ground I'll never know , but it was pure class.

Who was that Everton keeper they called the bin man ? Another lump but superb keeper
