we are lucky if we can scrap top 4 in the next 5 years, hope we survive without relegation before the end of his reign

Hyperbolic nonsense.

This is a hard one to grasp, under Tuchel last season we had a lot of injuries due to schedule and intense pressing. Potter had few games to manage, and less focus on intense pressing, yet the injuries didn't improve. Lampard complained about lack of physical fitness, yet nothing really changed under his short regime, players looked unfit and still fall down like flies. If Pochettino is going to drive players through the wall during pre-season, let it be. Man City had a lots of rotations in early and mid part of the season, and more than usual amount of below-par performance ( by their gold standard), yet in the business end of the season where other teams all faltered, they have been on an great run. If they do win the triple, or even league and CL, got admit Pep got it spot on with timing and team  management over the season

there were predictions from others half way through the season that arsenal who weren't rotating enough would struggle at the business end and i guess part of the reason why they were almost never bookie favourites. City have a very deep squad of starters. Its part of what makes for a league winning team as opposed to say a cup team.

Mauricio likes the notorious Gacon test.

To start with, the players have 45 seconds to cover 150 metres, with 15 seconds to rest," explained Pochettino in his book. "In each subsequent 45-second rep, they have to run 6.25 metres further, with the intensity steadily increasing."

The players hate the amount of running he makes them do. He aims to break them and he does.

and they down tools and play like crap, eventually the manager is sacked, rinse and repeat

At least he’ll get the team really fit and ready to go. That alone is a huge positive based on what we’ve seen this season.

I wonder what effect it could potentially have on injuries though. A lot of our players seem unable to keep up with high intensity, like Reece James.

Even with good physical problem, I highly doubt Reece body can last playing wb

So glad it's going to be Pochettino rather than some of the other candidates that were being punted about.

All we can hope is that he is backed and given time. Hopefully we will see a big improvement fairly early but of course there will be ups and downs. No doubt he will get absolute pelters from some of our fanbase (especially the Neanderthals who wanted Mourinho back for a third time!) when he tastes his first defeat, but I'm certain we have the right man and am looking forward to next season and beyond.

Woe betide him though if we lose to f**king Spurs!

Fully agree Nibs.

He's disliked by many Chelsea fans because of his Spurs association but any manager who manages one of our direct rivals for a period of time is going to be disliked. And when you boil it down, he wasn't even that bad really, for a Tottenham manager who was there for quite a period of time that is.

He has a good Premier League record, overachieved with a club like Tottenham. There's no way Tottenham should be mounting title challenges or Champions League finals but he actually managed that and even stopped the three-point lane parade while ending two of our glorious winning streaks when we won the titles.

I'm looking at this appointment as a sign of getting us on the right track, more than I am trophies. I think this club is in desperate need of a new structure, and I think Pochettino is perfect for that right now. Even if he wins nothing here, I think his managerial appointment can be of some good use, if he gets this team fit and playing fast-paced direct football again it can go a long way for the clubs' stability and future.

Ironic considering we have a forum full of Lemons who absorb any positivity....

+ beetroot for late for training.

Vegan burger for anyone with less than a 7 out of 10 the last match...plus no sauce for those with less than 5.

Same to me when we are hiring a manager who is a serial bottler, has a horrific record in top 6 battles, and most and for all, a SPURS REJECT

Apart from his Spurs past which doesn't bother me at all, I also have the same concerns. But realistically he was the best option available right now. Even though I don't expect us to challenge for trophies, at least not next season, I think he can accomplish the primary goal which is to sort this mess out. Don't forget we're in relegation form since November. It's not going to be easy, but I believe a top 4 finish is achievable with a bit of luck, and surely most of us would be more than satisfied with that.

“My office, a lot of people come in and out, in and out, and not all the people who arrive at my office have good energy.

“Some people arrive with bad energy and that goes into the lemons. It’s like a barrier, a sponge.

"They take away all the negativity and you can see — it’s unbelievable!

"I change the lemons maybe every ten days but sometimes every three or four days because the lemons become bad, ugly.

“When Daniel [Levy] is not around my office, they last one month, but when he is coming in and out, they last a week!”
