We have 5 points from 5 games, which were supposedly the 5 easiest opening games anyone had this season.

So based on that, we have to assume we will be getting less than 1 point per game from here out. So, maybe a total of 40 points or so? Might just be enough to avoid relegation. 16th or 17th

I think we can end up anywhere from 7th to 10th depending on how consistent we and other teams are. Top 6 would be a miracle.

Starting to think 10th would be a miracle.

15th and I’m not joking, we are lacking experience and depth. Don’t get me wrong, the clear out is excellent and well needed, but we need 4 really quality players in now.

Going to be that guy to share my original post. But we are lacking experience and quality. Loads of it. £1bn on proven players and we would have been world beaters. Blowing it on useless young sh*te was a terrible terrible mistake. Hardly any of these players are up to standard.

And that's OK. It's going to take time to right the ship.

I must have meant 5th to 8th from bottom...

I said 10th to 13th before the season started with the low quality of our squad.

But mentally changed it to 15th when we played West Ham.

It wasn't even about the game or the result but the team sheet.

West Ham have Antonio,  Bowen, Paqueta and Benrahma as a front 4 and I realised at best we have 1 fit attacking player that you could argue even gets a game for West Ham.  Similar again today with Villa and you look at Watkins and Diaby and even on paper they're tiers above our players.

The reality is a lot of midtable teams have better quality than us all over the pitch and I don't think our team of untalented 19 year olds are mentally equipped for a low quality battling they'll have to do for almost every result.

The stats the leadership team live or die by would indicate that at current form this year (2023) Chelsea are a team that could very likely  become involved in a relegation challenge come end of season. I agree w Axman show something in the next 2 EPL fixtures or it’s more doom,n,gloom.  all it takes to lift spirits and position in table  is 6 points.

Anyone else worried about relegation yet ?

With the chances of a points deduction hanging over our heads, yes. If we didn't have that, I think we would be safe. What a pathetic state the club is in that we are even thinking about this as a possibility.

I don't think we'll get deducted this season Scott, it's why we need to stop this midtable bull sh*t come next season or we could be in serious trouble.

Think at worst we’ll finish 14th.

Still….Drop points to Palace and Luton I may get worried.

We are at present no better than either of them, at some point we have to produce our potential where it matters…on the pitch.

We are in serious trouble already.

So what are people expecting this second half of the season?

Players are returning from injury.

United and Newcastle are regressing.

West Ham and Brighton will continue to battle fixture congestion with Europe.

On paper, we should make a good push for 5th-6th but I can't help but feel we won't ever escape 10th.

dont want to jinx it but 6th is possible.

6th is definitely possible given that we are only 6 points from that spot. Having said that we will have to pick up points much more consistently in the second half of the season if we have any hope of making top 6. We have yet to manage more than 2 consecutive wins in the league this season, and that needs to improve.

Really hard to say. Players return, then they get injured again. If we could get those injuries down to lower than 5 for a prolonged period, I would be able to start thinking upwards again. Problem is that we have a few positive results and then we sh*t out terrible performances back to back.

I think it would also be easier to look upwards if the performances were good. We were okay against Luton for 55 minutes, nothing special, then we just crumbled, especially after they scored. Palace was poor as well, decent in patches, but we looked like we were going to come away with a point at best. The late penalty masked another mediocre performance.

After the 4-4 against City I learned not to get my hopes up in sustaining anything. Hence why I am expecting 10th.
