What Liverpool being top of the league teaches us is that if you have great goal scorer and a world class defender a top 4 is easy in this league.. the problem is we spent a billion on every other position and bought average goal scorer’s and defenders..

I disagree there's still at least 3 more components I would argue are essential also. Keeper, playmaker and manager.

Liverpool might just be the best team in the world right now, but ironically they're not in the Champions League.

I do think we are a few key puzzle pieces away and I also don't think it's that hard to fix it, but with the ones in charge right now you just don't know what to expect.

I actually genuinely believe if given the right tools Pochettino would at the very minimum keep us as a top 4 club. Winning the league is a different story.

Top 6 was always my target after last season, top 4 was never realistic with the way the squad was built. It's delusional especially with the injury history which seems to be a repeating theme.

Top 8 at the minimum, I believe anywhere from 5th to 8th is possible. If we get over our injury crisis I think we get European football. I do think the transfer market will be crucial to improving.

Our PL victories have been against Luton ( twice?), Palace, Burnley, Sheffield United, Fulham, Brighton, Spurs . ....? Maybe I've missed a couple?

I think we are improving but there's a long way to go yet , finish no higher than 9th i reckon

Agree, and those were my thoughts. Listened to Pat Nevin on London is Blue podcast, and he said it quite well. I’m paraphrasing, but he said never would a team so young and inexperienced in the league ever get near the top 4.
top 6 would be a massive achievement, but that’s been impacted by injuries. We need a strong second half of season.

Caicedo, Cherki, Lavia, and Martinez/Navas we should be aiming for Top 4.

5th minimum.

Not too far off I suppose. Consider injuries we’ve met my expectations. 😂

5th.

Pretty optimistic that Pochettino will have a positive impact early on, and we'll be far better side tactically than we have been recently. We'll be inconsistent and have moments of frustration, but I think there will be enough improvement and progress to keep the fans excited.

Also think a lighter schedule will work in our favour. I can see Newcastle falling away with a heavier schedule.

If Spurs lose Kane, then they won't get close to top 4. Think City win it again with Arsenal and Liverpool being their biggest challengers.

Nearly correct with the ladder position. I was wrong in thinking Poch would have an immediate impact with the side.

Was correct to predict City would win the title again with Arsenal and Liverpool being their biggest challengers.

Newcastle fell away slightly compared to last season. Thought Spurs wouldn't get near top 4, but they only fell 2 points short of Aston Villa.

And that's OK. It's going to take time to right the ship.

I gave myself a bit of a window, but I was right.

Getting it out there early, I think we'll finish betwixt 2nd and 20th next season.

I said 10th to 13th before the season started with the low quality of our squad.

But mentally changed it to 15th when we played West Ham.

It wasn't even about the game or the result but the team sheet.

West Ham have Antonio,  Bowen, Paqueta and Benrahma as a front 4 and I realised at best we have 1 fit attacking player that you could argue even gets a game for West Ham.  Similar again today with Villa and you look at Watkins and Diaby and even on paper they're tiers above our players.

The reality is a lot of midtable teams have better quality than us all over the pitch and I don't think our team of untalented 19 year olds are mentally equipped for a low quality battling they'll have to do for almost every result.

Can we unban @Whats_The_Mata?, i miss doomsday posts like these

Was wondering where he went. Bloke genuinely tried gaslighting the fans that Poch was working with bottom half players.

Might be that Poch out poster. Similar name to times up Potter.

Third place finish next season under McKenna with Omari and Cole both chipping in with 15+ league goals each.

Pep leaves the following season and Arsenal carry on bottling any serious silverware so we win the league 24/25.

Quote me on this in two years.

I can see Hutchinson being an early sticking point in the McKenna era  ...

DoFs and Eghbali will want Mudryk to play. Probably already got buyers lined up for Omari !

Personally i don't mind Omari being sold as i think the players we have are probably better long term options, however it would seem crazy to get rid of him IF McKenna is coming in.
