I hope chelsea are playing for a community shield again one day because it should mean we’ve won a trophy. What I also hope for is that we don’t celebrate/go ott if we get a late sponny equaliser and win it on penalties.

it’s just a glorified friendly.

The right way to be there is to win a trophy. Arsenal were first runner up and able to play.

Is exactly that, a glorified friendly. Still miss playing in it though.

"I don't think it gets much better than winning a trophy at Wembley against the best team in the world"...........really?

Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, F.A Cup, League Cup, F.A Trophy, Championship promotion, League 1 promotion, League 2 promotion, all of the youth tournaments. I mean, the Community Shield is nice to win, but it's a charity game, an extra friendly before the season starts.

you forgot to mention the PL summer series. It's is much more prestigious. You have to do it over multiple games on terrible pitches in terrible conditions

This is the same club/fanbase that advertised Havertz signing with him holding the champions league in an arsenal kit but blue ribbons on the trophy.

That was the best result for City. Couldn't watch the game, but I'm sure Pep will use it to tell his players that they just can't sit on their arse and win all the major trophies again. Meanwhile Le Arse will be thinking they're the best side in the world until they flop again.

Does this game tell you anything about arse n city's plan next season? Not really.

The game itself was very cagey. It looks like at the end of the game city's player leg were gone, maybe arse had earlier pre season the city.

But for next season for arse case, if the plan is to play Kai as CF or if he keep picking the ball up deep as cm then good luck to arse next season.

For City, what happen if you play 4 cb, 2 dm, 4 attacker. You can't attack.

They looked far better once they bring one extra attacker. This is also the another final where Haaaland contribute very little. Is Haaland not a big game player? Or this very conservative tactic by pep make it very difficult for Haaland.

City played with 3 CBs & Walker, it was Arsenal with the 4CBs. I think we are slowly going to see teams moving away from fullbacks/wingbacks. Pep would still win the league this season but I reckon this will be the hardest one for him. His teams usually start the season slowly so he wouldn’t be worried by the Haaland no show, the tend to click around Dec when they start steamrolling teams and would then go on a 15+ game run with no losses.

The really issue here is there is no real quality available in the wide areas in the market to replace Mahrez. Would be interesting to see if he decides to look inwards this season and trusts Palmer or any of the other youth players in their academy. Kovacic is also a huge downgrade on Gundogan and will make things tricker as Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne are older and can’t play every min.

Agree with much of that ducavis but Pep has youngster called Oscar Bobb in his squad. He's just turned 20 but is a really, really talented player. Plays midfield / wide right. Keep an eye out for him.

I always consider walker as more of a cb this days but you are right arsenal also played 4 cb + 2 dm.

In term of fb trend, it comes down who you can get and who you have. I can see the benefit of playing fb in more defensive role but in the end it depend on the player. If your two dm are Kova and Rodri and you play with 4 cb behind them, it is very difficult to attack.

In term of city being a slow burner , I agree next season will be quite difficult for them. They look quite thin up front.  Kudus is a very good option if you want a rw but city financial situation is a bit sketchy.

I have just watched spurs v Shakhtar highlight. If spud can get CB for next season, they can be very difficult to play. Two wc st who can shoot on demand being fed by two very good creator.

Like I said long stoppage time is just dumb. Even player agrees with me.

It is madness. Yesterday we had 8 min extra time with just one goal and no interruptions

Imagine if you have a game that ends 3-3. You will have 30 minutes of extra time.

So arsenal won the Champions League yesterday right, it has to have been that trophy to celebrate like they did. Such a bunch of massive weirdo`s, especially the manager.

Games are getting shorter because of all the stoppages and time wasting. One game last season, the ball was in play 50 something minutes. That is horrendous and unfair for fans.

Poor players, they are expected to play 90 minute games for their £100k per week.

How much time in play do you think your average Sunday league game has?? Your average 45-year old John Smith would have a heart-attack if he actually had to play 90 minutes at his local kickaround.

This whole thing is a media beat-up, who of course have a profit motive to ensure longer "game-time" since it increases advertising revenue. Advertising revenue and ROI is calculated on exposures per game, so the longer the game, the bigger the revenue.

The truth is time-in-play stats have remained constant since it was tracked in 2010-11, despite the intensity and frequency of games dramatically increasing since then. What's unfair for fans is saturation football leading to an unprecedented amount of injuries to key players, to the point that seasons are defined by injury management. The reality of contemporary football is that fans are no longer guaranteed to see their favourite players on the pitch because they are almost equally likely to be injured or rotated out of a lineup for injury management reasons.

All this injury time is un-needed. If refs actually added on time correctly for time wasting, it would be fine. We don't need 14 f**king minutes extra every game.
