Fair enough. Antonio also runs out of puff these days. Bowen is the slippery one.

Back 4 for this one with Enzo spraying the ball around and Caicedo breaking it up, and both of them mixing it up. Gallagher gets the AM role to harass their combative Mexican DM and to cover for Enzo defensively if required. Mudryk and Raheem on the wings and Wacko Jacko up front.

Come on now... Sterling did quite well yesterday and Madueke hasn't even seen a minute of game time in Pre Season due to injury. It's a no brainer who starts out of those two. I also think it will be too early for Lavia, if we really get him in. I'd have Conor or Carney instead. I'd also swap Disasi for Silva, but apart from that I'm with you.

I think Carney should remain at no 10. He has been consistently creative on precseason and did much better than this forum recognizes against Liverpool after the first 15 minutes. 

I think it will the same line up like against Liverpool with the difference being caicedo for chukwuemeka and Gallagher moving into chukwuemekas spot

I'd take a half fit Madueke over Sterling mate.

Which is just stupid, irrational dislike towards one of our players. Is Sterling still his prime City version? No definetely not. Is he setting the world alight and justifying his salary? Also a no on that front. But he's not as terrible as some are making him out to be. He was our most productive attacker last season in a crap team, and while he hasn't had a particularly good Pre Season (who cares about Pre Season anyways?) he was decent against Liverpool, linking up well with James and creating danger down that right flank.

Compare that to Madueke who in his whole Chelsea career while having shown some promise, has done little more than that. There has been very little end product. I'm not knocking him, he's young and came to a new team that played awful and managed to be a bright spark. But he hasn't done enough to deserve to be thrown right in after injuries over Sterling. Also with injured players who've missed Pre Season, it's usually better to ease them in with a few substituete appearances first, to get the fitness levels up. Otherwise there's a danger of reinjury. And surely you don't want that, as we'd be stuck with Sterling again...

Regarding Sterling, as I've written above, he's not in his prime anymore, but I think he could have a vital part to play this season. He's one of few players in this team with a history of scoring goals. His knack of arriving at the far post could come in handy for us. He's also one of few experienced heads in the team and a serial winner. Let's hope he can have a Pedroesque impact this season, who also had a difficult first season in a disastrous overall season for us, but then helped us a lot with his directness and mentality.

Really important to make a statement win here after failing to beat Liverpool at home. Failure to secure victory will bring us down to earth and the critics will rightfully be out after the money we have spent. If we cannot beat West Ham away, then every other game bar Luton is a toss up. No excuses.

We should go to a back 4 formation and play more risky, it will pay off in the end.

Hopefully Tricky Mykky gets some game time

Their main threat is likely to be from set-pieces, so I wouldn't be opposed to Disasi playing again to give us some more height and strength.

Colwill LB and Chilwell LM worked nicely when they settled into it on Sunday, but I don't think I'd start like that this weekend. Could be an option for later in the game if we want to shut up shop.

I'm sure I'll change my mind a dozen times between now and Sunday, but as of right now I would go with the following:

Sterling, Gallagher, Mudryk

Excellent post. Stirling is  obviously already developing a good partnership with Reece. His knowledge of what it means to be a winner is an asset.  He isn’t a 90 minute player anymore, but them]n neither was Kovacic. Madueke was not even yet a regular starter in the Eredivisie. Also his injury record is already poor.  Madueke goals and assists are ok for a young player in Holland but they are far from exceptional.

I'd agree a few years ago. We've cleaned out the closet and the bad attitude and negativity.  Based on last week, things look positive.  I think three points is a very good possibility and will provide another major boost for the kids confidence.
