I wonder what Todd Bully, Eggbhali Svengali and ClearFake think about their project now ?

Its sad to think that it appears it has to get a lot worse than the pile of dog excrement the club / team has become under them for them to act

Clueless from the Board room to the Locker room (a little colonialism there) !!

The co-founder of Clearlake, Jose something, said not long after they bought the club, something along the lines of winning was the goal but not key to the aim of making money.

They don't need a winning team to make a load off this club, the Glazers have shown that.

That was dross - this is a young team, with a new manager, at the beginning of what will hopefully lead to a bright future. They deserve, at the very least, a bit of respect.

I get where you’re coming from, and I’ve got lots of similar stories, but that was then and this is now. Very different times and circumstances.

But if you’re going with the fact the team is young, what this team needs a bit of Tony McAndrew or Graham Roberts and Alan Dickens. You can’t have a squad of kids with one exception of a 39 year old and expect it to ever come good. There’s no experience or guidance for them and nobody to learn from. The only experiences they’re getting are bad experiences. That can’t be good.

Exactly. They will take any glory that comes their way and bask in it. Failing that they will just make profit by selling off homegrown players and loaning out others. Poch is probably a manager they like very much because he is unlikely to challenge them. There is no way they would tolerate the likes of Jose or Conte for example.

You are right we definitely need a few calm heads and some leadership on the pitch. We are 10th though, in a semi-final and still in the cup, so it is not all doom and gloom.

As supporters we are better off than about 95% of all football fans worldwide. You wouldn't know that reading this thread.

I get where you are coming from Liam, and back in the early 70's I was doing the same thing...anyway I understand that this is a team of young players to the EPL, or at least some of them are but they are not complete novices, most have played in high quality leagues in Europe or elsewhere so they are not 18 year olds that have no clue and perhaps the initial month or so of games they realized how intense the EPL can be, but that was back in August, we are in January and IMO they should be playing better than this; they all have talent, they all cost a lot of money...what they lack is leadership and direction and that comes from the Manager and elder players.  On the pitch the only person I see giving anyone sh*t is Silva, while others aimless point, or slap their thighs and drop their heads when things go awry.  The Arsenal and City games are the only two I recall this season where we played with intensity and some passion...where did it go for all the other games.

Sterling has been a big disappointment on the field, he should be a leader or one of them, Silva does his part and even Palmer chips in now and then but not consistent to be a leader...until we find that 'John Terry' 'Dave Webb' never say die leader who can drag this team along and pick them up, this team will remain fragile because the Manager isn't a Jose, Conte, Klopp or even an Arteta when it comes to showing some passion on the touchline.

Well, it was a very poor result and performance, but when the dust settles I have to remind myself of 3 things - we've got a very young team, this squad is almost entirely new, and we've had absolutely horrendous injuries. Things will be up and down for a while - probably this season and next.

I can't be mad at Cole Palmer though - he's a wonderful player and has done brilliantly for us this season. Missed at least 3 great chances tonight but he'll do better next game.

Well Poch must be tearing his hair out. He makes the changes, benching Broja and starting Palmer upfront. Palmer gets three great chances and he doesn’t convert any of them. Boro score from their one breakaway aided by appalling defending.

Second half I don’t remember us creating much. A couple of scuffed shots in the box and a lot of aimless crosses. Sterling, Mudryk and Madueke all going nowhere fast.

I feel sorry for Poch. He’s desperate for a striker and he’s having to make noises that he’s happy with what he’s got. Probably because the club have told him behind the scenes not to expect any signings this January. Palmer as striker must’ve seemed like a good idea before the game. Now what? Back to Broja? We are so screwed.

No two ways about it, we have been complete and utter sh*te since the takeover (a quite literal takeover)

No matter what manager it is, no matter how much is wrongly spent, it has been a next-level decline on a massive scale!

How are we on edge playing some sh*t club from the Championship to try and scrape our way through the first leg, in the hope of being completely embarrassed (again) by Liverpool in a final! If tonight is anything to go by, Middlesbrough deserves to have a go in that final far more than us!

If we play well and still lose a game, then fair enough, but this sideways passing sh*t is so aggravating, it's becoming a chore to sit through 90 minutes of it! If we were still playing now (or if you read this post 4 hours later) we still wouldn't have scored!

Tonight summed the last few seasons up, It is some of the worst football we have ever played!

Good points made. We are consistently inconsistent, and likely will be for a while to come.

Let's look on the brightside everyone.

We will most likely turn it around at the Bridge.

If we don't though hey at least we don't have to watch Liverpool trash us at Wembely.

I wouldn't write off Fulham just yet. They have hit a good run of form recently. Would be ironic if we get a Boro v. Fulham final after everybody assumed Chelsea v. Liverpool.

Nah Klopp and Pool are too spoony for that.

Other than the attack being even more toothless than i expected, and it was a low bar, that in some ways was what I expected when I saw the lineup. It was a team picked to control the game rather than wind the game. There were not enough attackers.

As in many other games with similar lineups we get lots of possession but no goals then they score on a breakaway. Truly its a familiar script.

The extra midfielder was useless. Enzo actually had quite a good game this time and Gallagher was poor. Really Palmer should have been 10 from the beginning. The chopping and changing of Sterling from side to side does us no favours.

Its not all Poch's fault but I reckon he's due a bullet.

I'm glad you are because I'm not.

Losing the first leg is the worst thing that could've happened, this team are a bunch of sh*tty arses, they won't be able to handle the pressure of being behind in the 2nd leg.

We've been doing well at home tbf, I think our current group plays better infront of the fans

Be objective about this, it's only half time with the second half our own turf, so it's not really lost yet. We could certainly beat them via 2 goals on a better night, even Potter's team was able to overturn it in CL last year. It's the kind of game we have seen it 10 times a season, gave up an easy goal, failed to convert easy chances in return, and gradually bored ourselves out of the game. This team is consistently inconsistent, you never know what you will get. The run of games have been kind to us recently, this time we played against a determined team and couldn't find a way, again nothing surprising about it. No point bash each players, we know some of them are work in progress, some just aren't that good. I thought was an odd decision dropping Broja, you have a big striker and suddenly those hopefully crosses become useful, but who am I to judge the highly paid manager.
