The reality is very simple. If you want to compete for title you don't sign kids.

Signing kids/younger players isn't the problem, you need that steady conveyor belt going. The problem is you need to sign experienced/champion-mentality players too at the same time.

We need an Azpi/Thiago Silva-type character to rein the young players in and push hard every game not just when they feel like it.

We have some of the best and most exciting young players in the world - I know you lot do not always see that - and we need a manager who has lots of experience to manage those young stars. Enzo Maresca has very little first-team management experience. He is also bald. He is also Pep light and Pep-Ball is going out of fashion. Enzo Maresca is also really stubborn. After the World Cup in the summer, maybe there might be a manager available who can take us to the next level.

There is already both Iraola and Glasner who both run out their contract in the summer.

They both seem to have really promising careers and truly be building something, I wouldn’t wish our sh*tshow on them to be brutally honest.

I'd just like to see what Carlo can do with our squad tbh

Love Carlo, but he's probably happy with the Brazil gig and will be 70 in a few years time, so he wouldn't be for me.

Think Glasner would be the perfect fit. He's a good age, has Palace playing good football, winning trophies and over achieving. I'm sure he would love the switch to a (much) better part of London and he could bring Henderson, Guehi, Wharton and Mateta too and part fund by off-loading Fernandez to Madrid.

All wishful thinking, but I can dream.........................

Arsenal are looking at Glasner, rumours that Arteta is leaving at the end of the season wether he wins something or not so if we want him we need to move

Iraola is supposedly being looked at by Man Utd if Amorim fails again

If?

To a certain extent I agree with that.

If you want to compete for the title you bring the kids through the academy - 1995-96, 1996-97, 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2002-03, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2012-13

And sign a decent manager.

Unless Juve come in for him and he decides to leave, I really don't see him getting sacked.

He is in this weird space where he isnt terrible and can get you a string of good results but at the same time I don't think he is the one to get us the big trophies such as PL and CL. Its just 'Meh' which I would say is worse than having someone who is bound to get fired.

Rumours that Xabi Alonso is on borrowed time at Real Madrid ...would anyone want him as manager for us ?

Interesting suggestion. But Liverpool might have an eye on him too mind.

Not good enough and all the more galling with who we are dropping points against.

We are now level with Utd and two points better off than Liverpool. Both have had very poor seasons so far.

Maresca will have us in contention in the cups I reckon but we won’t ever win the league with him in charge.

I’ve been pretty supportive of him until the last two games but it’s exactly the same as last season.

We are going to have to get lucky if we sack him because no top tier manager is taking that job. It’s going to be Rosenior or maybe Iraola or Glasner. No chance S&W are giving up control of transfers.

I don't think this is that big an issue these days. Most modern managers are used to the fact that transfers are decided by committee, and this has been reality for over 20 years at this point. Guardiola didn't even look at Man City until they brought in his entourage of sporting directors etc. in advance.

Conveyor belt system is not as easy you said. You need to give kids playing time to develop otherwise your conveyor belt system won't work.

Let's forget us and let's just use city. So you have goat level manager in pep and title winner everywhere.

I said last season when we played city early season that Savio is not city's level winger. I said this while he was cooking Cucu for fun. However, you can tell his movement and decision making were simply too raw. We all knew what happen to city last season. They were having a very terrible season until they spent 100m in Jan.

If you do this for few season, it is fine, you have "bad" season but then the young player develop and then you are ready to go. But what happen if you keep signing many young player every season? You are basically back to square one.

Given they were seen speaking to him Roberto Di Zerbi may well be next In line. Him or Rosenior would be my guess who BlueCo have hand picked.

I am pre sure De Zerbi left Brighton because Brighton signed kids when he wanted more ready player.

It will be Rosenior for more of the dross classroom textbook football that will bore us all to death. I do like the look of Glasner. In both of his last roles, at Palace and Frankfurt he has played attacking, entertaining football with an emphasis on beating the opposition and frankly at this stage that is pretty much all I am looking for. High running, high intensity football that is enjoyable to watch.

To be fair whenever ive seen Stuttgart they dont play anything like the tedious, borefest we do, they actually try and attack with pace. Ok ive only seen small bits of games but from what I can tell its a fairly decent style.

I’d honestly would prefer Leroy Rosenior over Maresca ATM.

He did a good job at Hull and has Strasbourg playing some decent stuff.

But more importantly I feel any new manager would inject some pace into our football.

We hardly ever outrun our opponents and if Maresca isn’t working on our fitness it’s no wonder we never play well for more than 45 minutes.
