Jadon Sancho

I disagree, I think he’s still our best left winger.

Not until he's capable of more than dribbling forward and passing backwards. He was basically a dead end yesterday, TAA had him in his pocket. A fundamental problem is a lack of pace to take him past defenders. And a lack of invention. Neto is currently way ahead on both counts.

He's frustrating to watch at times because he'll do something brilliantly and then look to pass it backwards, whenever he has the ball I never get the feeling that he's going to score.

Got to be better than watching Felix try and spot a pass as Palmer's back up.

That's a different argument.

Wrong game tactically for him yesterday.

Sancho has never been the type of player to run his man, he’s always been a pass and move winger.

Harsh to write him off but agree seeing him in the 10 might actually be a better move going forward.

Not his best game. Any LW worth his salt simply has to do better against a right back like Alexander-Arnold whose limitations defensively are well known.

Hindsight being a wonderful thing, Mudryk was probably the better LW skill set for this one, and possibly even Chilwell LOL.

TAA was playing far deeper than he usually does.

Think Slot deserves his flowers as he's drilled this Liverpool team to a tee defensively.

One of the rare occasions he did take on a defender and get past he was fouled and should have been given a pen.

I would still stick with Sancho in majority of games, his retention of the ball high up the pitch and intricate passing is good to have. Just needs more time to gel with the team and get comfortable.

This.

I was surprised at their style. So different from Klopp who would have still demanded heavy metal football.

That's the pragmatism either Ange lacks or is too proud to go back on his words of as long as I'm here we play this way mate and why ultimately will fail at Spurs.

Genuinely feel if they adopted their usual style of fast flowing football and high defensive line, we would have at worst drawn the game.

It wasn't his game unfortunately.

He gave them too much respect and TAA barely left his half.

I posted up in one of the other threads that Liverpool changed tactics yesterday.

Never seen TAA staying in his half for that long in a game. Slot changed tactics and got one on maresca, imho. Maresca will learn.

But the first point about respect...the whole team gave Liverpool too much respect and was scared of them in a way. After that foul he just kept passing back every time he went down the line. Neto was way better, even though he went inside at times and linked play he just had this no fear attitude compared to sancho.

Sancho was to scared/worried about some tight 1-2s with Jackson too...ended up passing it way back to colwill or passed it to caicedo as if he's telling him "you do it.."

I don't know much about sancho apart from what I've seen him do for Chels so far. So, I don't want to judge him too harshly yet on that showing as the whole team was at fault for showing Liverpool too much respect.

Sancho started very well with us but he has come for some criticism and rightly soo. Needs to do more to stay in the team. Maresca needs to find a way without affecting his confidence to rest him a couple of games for Felix or Mudryk.

Good against teams we need to break down. Was utterly pointless against Liverpool as he doesn't have the pace to scare Trent, Maresca should have realised that. Not that confident about how he'll do against Newcastle either.

Would have been better playing Mudryk and telling him to just continuously run beyond Arnold, keep running no matter what.

100%. Most people i've spoke to said that was a game screaming for Mudryk.

Noooo....forrest gump came into my head as I read that, when he nearly ran out of the stadium and field of play. Misha might end up at spurs or Gatwick, depending which half of the pitch we play on. Lol

start calling him forest.

Edit - Damn, that teaches me to other read posts first before responding. Simplymo got to the forest comment first.....

I guess great minds do think alike.

I'm not sure he is even good against those teams. He was terrible against Forest. I never even wanted him to start that game because it was obvious we needed somebody running at Forest's defence and stretching them.

Sancho only seems to be good against teams that are very open at the back.
