Apart from Delap in front of goal one on one with the keeper 90-95% will score while Jackson will miss…. Think he is a massive upgrade on Jackson he takes people on, can hold the ball up.. physically strong and can actually pass to a team mate…I really can’t see how people don’t think it’s a good signing? Young and English and already played in the premiership and scored 12 goals playing for Ipswich who created no where near the chances we did…

I firmly believe if Delap had been playing for us this season and been afforded the minutes/chances Jackson got he’d of banged 20+ goals and we’d of been 6-9 points better off.

He’s by no means the finished article, but that’s not what we’re in the market for under this ownership and if an unfinished Delap is already far and away our best forward imagine what a season or two later could look like.

4-4-2 with Jackson and Etitke up front? 10 big chances missed every game.

This is a good bit of business, I absolutely hate our other transfer activity but this is a singing I'll be happy with.

I don't believe there is any such thing as a curse. It has been a combination of bad signings, bad profiling, bad shirt allocation and bad luck that has resulted in a succession of failures.

• Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang : last minute signing who was at the end of his career and quickly fell out of favour with Potter after Tuchel got the boot

• Romelu Lukaku : good in theory, but never wanted to be here vs Italy.

• Tammy Abraham : did ok, but sold to make room for Lukaku.

• Gonzalo Higuaín : loan signing and in decline due to age

• Álvaro Morata : a sub in most teams he turned out for before us.

• Radamel Falcao : loan signing and in decline due to age/injury

• Fernando Torres : in decline due to injury

• Franco Di Santo : unproven prospect

• Steve Sidwell : midfielder

• Khalid Boulahrouz : defender

Personally I'd find it very refreshing if Delap backs himself enough to take #9., especially when his current preference for #19 will also shortly be becoming available. Big tick in the Confidence Pants stakes !

We would have won the Champions' League that year and every year since had we forced Shevchenko to take the #9 shirt and given the #7 to Kalou.

Announced its official, i think this is a brilliant signing.

Hopefully this spells the end of the Jackson experiment.
