Players gave their all in testing conditions, started badly and never recovered. Not helped by a pathetic losing mentality coach. Absolutely no reason at all to make 2 subs for one red card, it totally shafted us. Bringing George on as his attacking outlet was nonsensical.

Maresca out if we persist with him we will finish 7th max. He's a pathetically mediocre manager who is well out of his depth.

I feel we began the season with a bit of hope after the UEFA Conf League and the club world cup - but this week, outplayed by Bayern and let's face it outplayed by a very poor United team in the first half has really burst our bubble. We'll play a B team vs Lincoln but we need to see much more fight vs Brighton or that'll be another disaster

I completely agree and still think that it still does not fully explain this match.

It is simply not enough for me to say Maresca could’ve done this or that instead.

First, we don’t know what would have happened had he done things differently. Second, it does not excuse the chelsea players who were on the pitch.

And considering he managed to kick United player by his waist, well deserved.

Cowardly performance from us today. especially second half after we were thrown a lifeline with the Casemiro red. We spent most of our possession second half passing the ball around at the back. Anybody would have thought we were up 2-0. The few times we got a cross in United looked uncomfortable. Yet we took off both our wingers first 10 mins in a panic.

No, just one unfortunately.

No idea what Maresca was playing at. When you have a player sent off early you don’t want your manager to go into full on panic mode. How did it help to haul off Estevao and Neto? What message does that send? That we’re going to try and defend 0-0 for an hour and a half?

Then when they have a player sent off, why doesn’t he change things at half time, bring on Garnacho and Gittens, and have a go at them? Why waste the first 20 mins of the second half, fail to trouble them, then decide the answer is to bring on George and Gusto?

What a disaster class in managing a game. Sanchez is a bloody idiot but what does that make Maresca?

I've started and scrapped this comment 3 times.

I give up, it's already been said before and numerous times.

I just feel deflated, I can't see the promised golden future that some on here have been confidently chortling about for months.

We haven't even played a top PL side yet.

Apart from Liverpool we've got Brighton, Forest , Sunderland, Spurs, Wolves and Burnley before we play Arsenal and then Leeds at the start of December.

We play all 3 promoted teams in that time. There's a lot of points that we should be taking from those games, BUT if anything, we CAN'T lose to Spurs . Sort it it FFS

It says a lot really when basically nobody is moaning about Sanchez, the player who got sent off.

I don’t even think the red card cost us the game. Honestly to decide to take all of the attackers off when there’s another 85 minutes to play is batsh*t crazy. You just don’t do that if you want to get any points.

He's a championship manager, he needs to go and take Fernandez with him. This is villas boas decision making levels.
