I seem to be in a minority of not being overly bothered by the new manager signing, it is what it is, he almost cant do any worse than Maresca has been in the majority of his games if he just does what the under 21s lad did, play the players where they are best, let them do the job they are best at.

I feel the same. Ok, he's not exactly a mega exciting appointment, but who would be in the clubs current form? Just let him get on with it and see how it goes. We might even be pleasantly surprised.... And it definitely isn't his fault that the owners have a focus on player development and a only a cursory interest in on field success.

The only issue is he lacks experience and the players lack experience and they could have done with a manager who had some experience. But then the owners have no experience either - so there is a strong element of consistency.

In all honesty All he has to do is be less risk adverse. And play the players in their right positions and. . . never bore the fans.

Hard to get excited about this appointment when we know that his only qualification is the fact that he won't complain about the board interfering with his work.

Not bothered about the 6 year contract as I'd be shocked if he's still here by Christmas.

All new managers like to bring in a new player or two. Y'know their type of players. . .with Maresca we got Dewsberry-Hall. so maybe we shall see Emmanuel Emegha and . . .. Ben Chillwell?

Emegha is said already to have agreed a deal

I think he'll do well here. Football is more about emotional intelligence these days, and if it's true he wants players to express themselves then players like Palmer, Estevao etc will warm to that.

Maresca's tactics really put me off watching us play, and he's the first manager to make me feel that way.

Hopefully this will also see Santos get more involved in games, I think he will be the vital cog to establish a three man midfield.

Underwhelming but so have been all of their managerial appointments. Most clubs seem to be moving away from big name managers.

He’s done a decent job so far in his career but hard to not feel this will go the same way as Potter.

And where is Santos going to play exactly? He’d have to bench Enzo and that’s highly unlikely under Egbahli’s watch. Though, one can only hope nowadays.

This at least sounds decent :

"There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level to make everyone connected and proud to be a part of Chelsea Football Club.

I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every single game that we play. They are the soul of this enormous, historic and huge football club."

Mind you, I thought Starmer's first speech as our PM was decent too LOL (no I didn't vote for him 😎 )

@Munkunku voted for him. He believed!

The owners don’t care about success this appointment proves that, they just want someone who will keep his mouth shut and manage the team, making a nice little profit is the main goal success is a bonus to them.
