Spot on. I had Andrews down as one of the first casualties. Fair play to him. He is on course for manager of the season in my book, looking at the hand he was dealt. The fella Thiago, up top, would walk into most prem teams.

There’s a similar rot developing here to Spurs I fear. I wouldnt be surprised if we swapped players with Brentford they’d be fighting at the top while we’d most likely be in a relegation battle.

At least @Gudjohnsen witnessed a win on his first Bridge visit 👍

Yeah. Not a magnificent performance, but a great day nevertheless!

Even won a shirt signed by the players in a pre match raffle. However, can’t for the life of me tell who’s who except for Andrey Santos 😅IMG_8DF8B7F5-A25E-4B2F-B323-C959D1C02200.jpeg

Positives:

Sanchez back to his very good level pre Arsenal.

I thought Tosin looked solid. Got his head on every cross coming into the box.

We dealt better with set pieces than we usually do.

Rosenior's subs were good. Santos did not have as good of an impact as I thought he would but I believe it was the right move. Delap's introduction instantly paid off. Only went full defensive when we were 2 goals up and not at 1-0 up.

Liam passed little notes to the players . . .just like Jose used to do. Liam does seem like an actor playing a football manager in a TV drama. We won. Brentford are a nasty physical team. We got a bit lucky but we won.

Formation changes would be nice. It is nice to see some of that.

Didn't watch. Just followed the chat on here and it sounded like we were very lucky. Being the home team that doesn't fill me with any confidence. I won't even bother watching the highlights. I've checked out.

To be honest this message board is the last place you should come to get realistic match updates. 😀

Here we go

Rosenior makes major denial about his star play after frustrating afternoon

No, Cole, if you watch the last 15 minutes of the game and you watch the energy he puts into his press and his running for the team, I thought he was outstanding,” Rosenior said.

“It’s impossible for any player or any team to be magnificent with the ball in every game, but you can still find a way to win. The other thing I would say about Cole and Reece [James] as well, they haven’t trained. They’ve had no training time because they put themselves up. I couldn’t play them against Arsenal. I’m so proud of them because they put themselves up and they ran themselves into the ground. They’ve had no training time with the knocks they picked up, which shows me a fantastic attitude and the more games and the more training sessions they get now, the better they’ll perform.

That may well all be true, but it doesn’t change the fact that Palmer obviously is frustrated. Just look at his non-celebration after he scored the penalty. He knows better than anyone that he’s not at his best.

It wasn’t the players that signed the shirt….it was mostly of us here on the forum that’s why you can’t make out any players names…I think you got had mate…

So sounds like a fluke win due to Brentford poor finishing and 9 times out of 10 we lose, or maybe draw, that game, fair?

Depends whether your glass is half full or half empty...

Others might say, winning when you're not playing well is a good sign.

I would say, under Maresca 9.9/10 we lose or draw that game (and probably the FA cup tie against Charlton too).

Some people on here have very quickly forgotten:

1) how diabolical Maresca's starting line up and in game substitutions were and

2) how often we played for 45 minutes and then following Maresca's half time team talk, we'd come out and throw the game away in the second half!

Let's try to give Liam a chance and judge him by the results later - KTBFF

Poor performance, but a good result in the end.

Don't have a lot of confidence in the coach, but he'll be relieved to get 3 points.

Agreed. And the poor performance from many of the players could be explained by several suffering from the flu by the sound of things. Brentford were on a great run and full of confidence. we rode our luck and got a big 3 points. We will need to improve significantly, but hopefully this is something for the new coach to build on.

Don’t know how we won that. Never seen us so lethargic. Manager said after that James and Palmer didn’t train, others were suffering from a virus. So that may excuse how off the pace we looked. Very lucky not to concede and Sanchez made a crucial save at 1-0. Although Garnacho somehow managed to miss the best chance of the match.

Regardless, I thought we were way too open. Brentford were strolling through our midfield at will. Same thing as against Arsenal. We can’t go on like this. I’d start Santos alongside Caicedo and take it from there. It’s just suicidal otherwise.

I'd agree. The elephant in the room remains Fernandez. With both wingers and Palmer hit and miss currently the rate of transition is high and regardless of the fans perspective of what Fernandez one thing I think everyone is agreed on is that he just doesn't have the pace, power and overall physicality to maintain a box to box presence in midfield

Must be worth at least a fiver

Just been reading an interesting report regarding Thomas Frank on the BBC website. The comments from fans are interesting. It could be us talking. If anyone fancies a look I can't provide a link as such but it's under this headline.

Reminds me of a charity sportsmans do I went to, they auctioned of a signed Liverpool shirt and 2 muppets got into a bidding war for it. Went for about £500, presented the shirt to the winner and he asked who the signature was as he couldnt make it out......compere looked at his sheet and said "Bruno Cheyrou...never heard of him"....
