14 hours ago14 hr Great signing .. we needed goals.. Cole and him for 25-30 goals.. 15-20 for Jao.. rest of the team for another 15-20 — that’s top 4 done.4 hours ago, Vialli96 said:Completely Mugged…again, ridiculous fee for a player no better than Barkley/DrinkwaterSeriously.. Barkley was a talent but couldn’t keep fit.. everyone knew drink water wasn’t it..

If he was signed for £60-70m, I don't think people would be as worried, but £117m is a hell of a lot of money for one player. For that money, I want Palmer levels when he is at his best, and Rogers hasn't shown close to those levels yet.Not worried about the fee .. they just sold Tielemens too .. I am sure we will see one of Jackson / delap / Garnacho go there - Elliot went back to pool too they have no attackers left.

9 hours ago9 hr Very good player and very good signing, but we've definitely overpaid. That being said, it isn't my money so who cares.
9 hours ago9 hr Massively overpaying for a Man City youngster you say? Who would have thought?Hugely flawed player who brings nothing to the team that isn't already there (other than belting one in from distance every 10 games or so). Another idiotic signing by the brain trust. Also an enormous sum of money which could be spent on one of the positions which need a more urgent upgrade (say, goalkeeper or centre-forward). Looking forward to Caicedo getting 10 yellow cards by December trying to mop up on his own while Palmer, Fernández* and Rogers do absolutely f**k all off the ball. He'll look good on MOTD though. *Assuming we're not paying for this by selling him.

9 hours ago9 hr The money no longer matters, once it got to £50m being the norm then reality left the room. Its all financed money now being moved around the clubs, its utter nonsense and the whole of football at the top level is ridiculous.I think its best to just ignore the whole thing, just basically divide all fees by 4 and live with it.

I don't pay to much attention to it anymore. No player is worth that money. I think it's ever since PSG bought Neymar for 200 million it pushed transfer prices through the roof!

Higuan went for about 100m euros around then too. This isnt a new thing, fees have been mad for years, the big issue us the nonsense fees have now filtered down to basic squad players base is now £50m, everything has pretty much doubled or trebled.

People think they are very savvy discussing value for money transfers like its their money.I hope we continue to spend huge sums id like to see Blue Co. up to their neck in it, fully locked in where success on the pitch is the only way forward. With the recycling of the duds and there are many i think they will eventually buy themselves out of trouble. 7 hours ago7 hr Lokkong at tge prices for players this sunmer, I reckom everyone has over paid by £30m, so it is what it is. Not a massive Rogers fan, however this is at least a signing that is attempting to improve us on the sporting side.3421 with Palmer and Rogers behind Pedro I think is very exciting, also got Estavao to rotate in that too.4231 with Rogers lw is less exciting for me, but still a big upgrqde on what we have had there since probably Hazard, although Willian and Pulisic did okay.I think it will have a positive 3ffect on Palmer though, and lets be honest, if Palmer is firing at 100% he is one 9f 5he best in the world.Hopefully get a centre back or 2, Lacroix, Ordonez, or Diomande. Then left wing back I can see Neto or Quenda playing there, if we cant get this Pep for a smaller fee.
6 hours ago6 hr The transfer fee is crazy so I hope he's worth it. If Alonso is on board with signing him then I can get behind it.12 hours ago, Scott Harris said:Arsenal fans are really weird. If Chelsea had won the league title, there is nothing that could bring me down, yet they're going mental after less than two months. I was on a high from the Champions League win for half a year. They have a massive inferiority complex.
6 hours ago6 hr People have got to stop getting hung up on the fee. Those numbers mean absolutely nothing nowadays. 50M for Torres was eye watering 10-15 years ago. We spent 60M on JJBG without even a blink last year. Times change.Look at the absolute bottom line, we were going into another PL season with Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho or Jamie f**king Gittens as our LW options. We now go into the same season with Morgan Rogers, arguably the best English player in the PL last season. It’s a monumental upgrade and only makes us better as a side.Absolutely buzzing for this one personally. Adam Wharton would be the cherry on the cake.
6 hours ago6 hr The good thing about this move is he can play anywhere amongst the front line. He is a no.10, but majority of his goals is him drifting from the left and cutting in and scoring. His second goal against United at Villa Park this season was majestic. He has all the attributes you want and helps out Palmer because he is prepared to do the defensive work rate. His defensive work rate is phenomenal. And he is still only 23, just about to turn 24. So well in his prime. Yes, the fee is a lot but this is Villa's best player we are talking about who have won a trophy and qualified for the UCL and is English. So the fee was always going to be high. Compare to the other transfers you have got. Anderson who joined City for similar fee. Tonali for £100m. Fernandes for £80m odd and West Ham got relegated, so that sounds about the going rate for the best player for a team who wins a trophy, in the UCL and is English.

Adam Wharton would be the cherry on the cake. That’s how I see it.FWIW I think he is a very good player and I’m very happy with this signing.Other than the FFP angle the price isn’t that important to me, I’m more interested in getting value for money and quality players.Everyone laughed at Declan Rice’s price but let’s face it as much as most of us despise Arsenal he’s worth every penny. Also we’ve blown much more than £117m on players who haven’t provided value.Delap for £30m isn’t some sort of bargain, and we have wasted money on Garnacho and Gittens (£100m), all in the same transfer window, so if we buy someone like Morgan Rogers who I believe definitely improves us then I’m onboard with this signing. He is Villa’s best player and gobbling up other Premier League teams best players is how you improve your team, a tactic that has proven to work for decades. 5 hours ago5 hr Bang average England midfielder signs for 118 million pounds. When does this bullsh*t end.
5 hours ago5 hr also, I lok at the money and its frankly gross. Im told its the going rate, to be expected in this day and ag etc... paying 100 million for a footbaler is appalling given the inequality among fans n the stands and football industry. Rogers is worth 30 million max. There is nothing worht 100+ million about him nothing.Congratulations CFC, the World Cup isnt over and preseason is 3 days old and my blood is boiling. Game has gone if any fan thinks rogers is a 100 million pound player. Its daylight robbery of fans everywhere.
5 hours ago5 hr Morgan Rogers is a good player and I am very pleased we signed him. the money? Capitalism sucks. It is as simple as that. it is disgusting that we have such discrepancy in wealth and the margins keep getting worse and people should be building guillotines and lopping of the heads of these billionaires and instead people are going shopping. . . .it is what it is.

Given Villa is owned by another Yank, this is probably financial book cooking, Villa will buy someone from us in the next 12 month preiod worth 50/80 million. This league is done... football is toast... as demonstrated at the World Cup where professional players knew the game is rigged.
