I wonder how hard we are finding it, on the current market, the make sales. Latest rumors are Inter wont buy Emerson outright they want him just on loan.

No sales yet. Barley any loans. Makes you wonder just how tight the market is.

I think it's best for his development. We need to see how good AC, Zouma and Rudiger is with Silva first. If not we have Tomori, Mbuyamba and Sarr ready to make the step up.

Bale is still a quality player but with our  squad and new signings would he be worth it? I can see Utd going for him if they don't sign Sancho.

I would assume he would want to be a starter, as well as Champions League football.

The biggest question is whether our direct competitors will sell to us at a reasonable fee

I hope Marina's next signing is Bayern Munich's trainer. Have you seen how big Lewandowki, Thiago, Davies, etc have gotten over the past year? Imagine Havertz, Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic, etc with an extra 10 pounds of muscle.

Not always a good thing, can lead to less balance if you're heavier which could negatively impact someone like Pulisic.

Goretzkas transformation was apparently only 4 months!  Surprisingly there was no drug testing during lockdown.

The only one with extra muscles in the recent months is Goretzka. And it is not just a development of the Corona break but started far earlier.

The photo of Davies, that is circulating, is already from his medical 2 years ago. Lewy is like this already since some years. And Thiago started to work extra on his fitness in 2016 having an additional personal trainer.

 

That does not mean that they aren't fit - they worked very hard on their fitness level during the Corona break - but the overall fitness and endurance, too - not just bulking up. Goretzka bulked up as he always was a little light weight in midfield and to really be able to fight for a starting place and not to be always no. 4 he needed to get better defensively.

Not really given Werner, Mount and RLC can all play there if need be.

 

Can we not just sell a player? Emerson, Baka, Batman, Zappa etc etc seems every single player we want to move on is either a loan or we are stuck with them.

Who would buy them? The market is dead. 

I imagine all of them have loan deals lined up but we are pushing hard to see if anyone buys them.

Exactly. We're not the only ones struggling to sell players.. And it's not like it's a bunch of world class footballers we're looking to move, everyone knows the likes of Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Drinkwater etc don't have a chance in hell of getting back into the squad so loan is often the best we can hope for because even if it's just removing their wages from the payroll for a season it's still better than nothing.

A loan fee and wages completely off the books is good enough at this point. Though I do think we will sell at least a couple players.
