Best night of my life...Watching that video from the German end is brilliant.

I've never been so calm watching a game, normally I can't even watch penalties in games where we're not playing, but I never covered my eyes once !

I also love the Ruud Gullit/Jaymee Redknapp story...Ha Ha top top Jaymee was gutted for his old Man....

I couldn't watch the Moscow penalties, and I had to force myself to watch the Munich penalties. Through my fingers, from behind the couch, but I did watch. I chose wisely :JC_doubleup:

I just knew Juan Mata was going to miss.

Out of all the players he looked the worst going to take the penalty, looked very nervous, whereas David Luiz as clumsy as he was, he was confident as anything taking that penalty.

Didn't Mata miss 3 penalties that season also? I'm sure he missed two penalties back to back against Birmingham home and away.

Might be my favourite video from that night. The way the Germans were about to cheer at 4:05 is brilliant, then the roars when Cech saves then Drogba scores are unforgettable.

Also some c**t is chanting "Drogba in the zoo" as he's walking up.

Luiz, Lamps, Ash Cole, Drogba you f**king legends! Ridiculously good penalties under such pressure.

Quite possibly!

Glad you're in a better place now, it was 7 years ago, a lot can happen in that time I guess! Back then my life was very different too.

Thank you Zola, very kind of you.

It crazy that it was 7 years ago now, wow!

I hope your life is treating you well.

Watched the Moscow final in a bar in Aukland, actually had to fast track my travels as was the only place showing he final. Was gutted and walking back to the hostel in a sea of red.

Just watched the Munich final at home. It had been probably the worst 6 months in my life to that point so was a great way to turn the year around a bit

Hope things are better now mate, the elation of winning that final must have really helped.

I'm not going to lie I had a tear stream down my face when Didier scored that penalty! The elation that soon followed is something I won't ever forget.

I want that feeling again!

For me, it was when they were engraving 'Chelsea Football Club' into the trophy.

History.

I'm not going to lie I had a tear stream down my face when Didier scored that penalty! The elation that soon followed is something I won't ever forget.

I want that feeling again!

I was standing in my livingroom and trembling like a leaf in a wind tears in my eyes when Didi walked towards the spot. Just couldn't believe the trophy was ours if this goes in. When it did go in I jumped and shouted for about 5 mins. I think my neighbor finally knew I really liked Chelsea [emoji1]

See, when Drogba took his penalty, I thought "sh*t, it's gone wide" lol.

Best night of my life, was absolutely sh*tting myself as Didier stepped up such a short run up! but when he scored it was a complete blur went absolutely mental that night, brilliant.

I cried too but I'm not sure I'd have that same feeling again if we won it again

I cried when he scored the equaliser more than when he scored the penalty, not sure why. When we won it I just collapsed in a heap. I was watching it with my Chelsea mate and two others who were both Arsenal and Swansea, and we all linked arms when he stepped up to take that final penalty. It really was an incredible moment, one so amazing it could unite even the biggest rivals

  • 4 weeks later...

I was fuming when Drogs stood right next to the ball to have a 1 step run up for the peno, shouting at the tv telling him to have a proper bloody run at it and to just hammer it in like Luiz and Lamps did.

Not a big fan of Martin Tyler anymore but he is a genius at what he does, and his commentary of the whole evening was just fantastic, one of the big factors as to why it was such a special night

I watched it on ITV not Sky and Clve Tyldesley was The complete opposite, you could sense he didn't want us to win. Unlike Andy Townsend he never really got that animated at Drogbas penalty in the shoot out.

I'll always remember what he said though. 'Champions of Europe......at last'. Twat.

As we're all doing a highlight of our day of the game. Woke up at 6:30 in the morning because of nerves which meant another 13 hours till kick off. Couldn't eat all day and had a massive headache.

Went to my friends house to watch the game was alright until Muller scored which I just thought was game over. Drogba then smashed one home with his head and the place erupted, everyone their was a Chelsea fan apart from one hammer who wanted us to win and one Spurs fan who evidently didn't.

It got to the 112th minute and I couldn't withstand the pressure anymore so I had to go outside and walk around for a long while until the game and penalties has done.

I rang my dad who supports Liverpool to under no circumstances ring me about the penalties or what happened during them, I just wanted to check sky sports or BBC as I thought it'd be the best way to find out we lost as everyone knows how poor we are at penalty shoot outs.

I find out it's penalties, and about 8 minutes later, my Dad rang me and started cheering (he wanted us to win)screaming that we won and I didn't know what to do. I just started running back and forth randomly outside. God knows, the neighbours must of thought I was on drugs.

At this point my headache has been lifted totally, went home and watched the penalty highlights with the biggest smile on my face. I was devastated after Moscow, cried my eyes out but this more than hell made up for it.

What a night.

As frustrating and nerve-wracking as the game was. I couldn't miss the shoot out. I understand how some might opt-out due to the sheer emotional drama the game put us through up until that moment. For me, I wouldn't let myself miss it. If I had, and we won... I would have regretted not experiencing it.

Seeing the penalty highlights and knowing the best part is remembering them as they happened live... makes that night so much better in the memory.
