May 24, 201511 yr All this talk of Istanbul, Liverpool's champions league campaign in 05 is a farce, barring the final. We actually got to the final fairly, we didn't get to the final becuase goal line technology hadn't been invented yet. Plus, our whole campaign was far more of a miracle and a far better story.

I'm not sure mate, being 3-0 down in a final, you are down and out. But I agree about the route to the final.
June 4, 201511 yr I'm not sure mate, being 3-0 down in a final, you are down and out. But I agree about the route to the final. Yea, I did say barring the final, no doubt it was a miraculous comeback and I definitely respect what they did in that match. However, they shouldn't have been there in the first place, it was a farce, I'm saying this because RAWK blew up after we won the final, calling us lucky, lucky is getting to the final, becuase goal line technology didn't exist then. Also, I'm talking about our entire campaign back then, the comeback against Napoli, the Barca matches and the final, it's easily a more miraculous story. Edited June 4, 201511 yr by Floyd25

Agreed Hollywood could make a film about it and it would be panned as 'far fetched bollocks'..it was that incredible.
June 29, 201511 yr So just Cahill and Mikel left from the Munich XI and Romeu if you include the squad.
June 30, 201511 yr The squad needed refreshing/rebuilding just so happy we won it with that group of players.
June 30, 201511 yr Indeed, would have been criminal if Lamps, Ash, JT, Dids & Pete hadn't of won it with us. And I'm talking proper criminal, not Stevie G should have won the league crap, this is genuine....(!)
July 1, 201511 yr Entirely agree with Dan and Gem on your points. The team was in the urgent need of a rebuild with the squad ageing, and players like Lamps, Cech and Drogba all deserved a Champions League winners medal after so many close calls in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Now JT will be striving for that medal and trophy as captain in the near future after missing the match in Munich. Still very fond memories of the night and Cech was one of the key reasons why we prevailed that night. That alone means he'll never be tainted or disliked despite his move to a local rival in Arsenal.
July 8, 201511 yr The worst thing about this night was Kalou's Spiderman haircut, I reckon. That and Bosingwa somehow making himself the centre piece of the trophy lifting.
July 8, 201511 yr Bloody hell, I don't even remember that for some reason? Nerves mate. You were probably in absolute pieces during the entire thing and didn't notice. I know I was! (Sung to the tune of The Four Seasons- December 1963 Oh What a Night) Oh what a night...late Maaaaay, back in twenty-twelve....what a very special time for me, as I remember what a night...
July 9, 201511 yr What an amazing night! We did not play one bad side the whole tournament. Unbelieveable. Ali- Foreman stuff that was. I have just rewatched the shootout and the luiz penalty- omg! at the time of watching I must of forgot because I was so numb but his run up and strike could of really gone tits up, give me a lamps style penalty anyday.
July 27, 201510 yr not sure if this video has been posted anywhere else on this messageboard, but I this is Frank Lampard the other day w/ the New York City Blues & he is recalling the events of May 19, 2012. Checkout, but be careful because you eyes might get wet. Mods never close this thread, because it reminds us that the Underdog always have a chance to do the amazing!!!
August 3, 201510 yr That and Bosingwa somehow making himself the centre piece of the trophy lifting. Why shouldn't he? He gave Chelsea many years of loyal service and deserves to celebrate the greatest night of his career as much as any of the others that were taking centre stage.
August 9, 201510 yr We still talking about this 3 years later. Marvelous achievement tho must admit it winning the Champions League 10 years after financial injection of nearly £1Billion. Suprissed it didn't take longer I really am. Credit to Chelsea and Roman we'll be up there with the Big clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid forever now. We earned it all.... all that hard work. Nice attempt at suggesting that we bought the Champions league Arsenal fan, but you're a failure as a troll, ‘all that hard work’, failed sarcasm, but the last time I checked, you can't buy the Champions League, you have to play for it and earn it.
