December 22, 201510 yr Out of interest does anyone remember the away 1-0 game vs Benfica in this run, as in the run of play, who was more dominant, etc? It was about the only game throughout the knockout rounds that didn't feel like a cup final to me, ergo, the most forgettable! Edited December 22, 201510 yr by Teritus

December 23, 201510 yr David Luiz and Ashley Cole's penalties were positively and undisputedly out of the highest of top draws
December 23, 201510 yr Great song. The date is slightly off though :-) Note to self: replace Frankie Valli record with cd.
December 23, 201510 yr David Luiz and Ashley Cole's penalties were positively and undisputedly out of the highest of top draws Luiz's is the best I've ever seen given the incredible pressure he was under not to mention that would have beaten more than just 1 keeper at once.
December 23, 201510 yr Luiz's is the best I've ever seen given the incredible pressure he was under not to mention that would have beaten more than just 1 keeper at once. It's a well-known fact that the best penalty of all time was Kevin Pressman for Sheffield Wednesday vs Wolves in the FA Cup in 1995: (1 min 33)

December 25, 201510 yr Anyone? I can't even remember what I had for dinner yesterday, Teritus :-) I admire people who can remember matches and goals and the like. I remember the Munich final, but the rest is a blur, including the Moscow final, the Europa Cup final, FA Cup finals, etc.

This might help: http://www.theshedend.com/topic/19977-benfica-v-chelsea-cl-qf-1st-leg-270312-ko-1945-bst/ Had a glance through it, fairly sure it was [just about] before the matchday threads descended into bickering and complaining. General consensus seems to be - solid first half, slightly more shaky second half. RDM went for a side packed with experience of the Portuguese leagues (i.e. Meireles, Luiz, Ramires, Paulo). Paulo unexpectedly started and was solid. Luiz, Mikel and Ramires were apparently excellent, Mata was poor, and Kalou scored the winner near the end despite missing several easy chances.

Thanks Ploks, that seems to be just about how I remember it (and I did remember the Kalou goal). I remember our home leg much more vividly, lots and lots of missed chances, including one particular shocking one from... I think Sturridge or Ramires? Meireles' goal at least made up for it.
December 25, 201510 yr The Kalou goal came from fantastic work from Torres if I remember, he missed an absolute sitter, but then got the ball and ran at the defence, got round the back and layed it on a plate for Sala.

January 4, 201610 yr Posted by Raul Mereiles today. That's fantastic. He was a real soldier in that game at the nou camp, and took a booking that put him out of the final. mereiles.jpg
January 4, 201610 yr Always liked Meireless felt he was abit underrated tbh Me too. Even though he was only here a short time, I loved him - there was something ruthless about him. Played to win and was a nutter with a nutter's hairstyle and tattoos.
