November 30, 201312 yr None of the stories seem to mention specifically that he asked for a permanent transfer. a move away could be the loan that we all know he requested anyway. where do they have any evidence that he wanted a full transfer rather than the loan? the guardian say that jose mourinho has said he asked for a transfer, but vie only seen jose say that he wanted to move on loan, not permanently. seems like the media are twisting it, as they love to do when it comes to chelsea and mourinho Why is Jose' so adamant that he wants Lukaku to tell the truth….'he can't handle the truth'!!
November 30, 201312 yr Seems a bit odd. Obviously Lukaku is young and is trying to prove a point to Jose that he was wrong to buy Eto'o, but Jose's reaction to call him on it and say you could have still been here is interesting. Trying to stamp his authority certainly. But it will make it a difficult thing for him to come back to the club next season.
November 30, 201312 yr Can someone clarify the benchmark for a "good" forward and what is meant by "our forwards are in some form"? I am very confused because it seems this season the measure of a "good" forward is one that works hard, and for a creative player it's "tracking back". Isn't that what psychologists call "rationalization"? Kalou was slaughtered on this forum for being a "good" forward and until this season, I don't think I ever saw the term "tracking back" used with creative players (what would be a Mikel/Ramires role?). We also go on about how scoring for an Everton/ West Brom is different from scoring for chelsea; other top teams have forwards who do it regularly, home and away. Let's be honest we dropped the ball massively regarding Lukaku this season, if after bagging 15+ goals he has not been given an even platform to compete (which I don't think he was) he can't be blamed for handing in a transfer request. Our creative players are still creating chances but our forwards just have a very poor conversion rate. Appearances Goals Assists Chances Conversion (%) 1. Ba 4 0 1 5 0 2. Eto'o 8 2 1 23 8 3. Torres 8 1 1 13 7 4. Lukaku 7 8 1 23 34 IMO our problems can be attributed to a wrong approach to man management and wrong tactics. We are too busy making excuses for our forwards and Jose, and won't be surprised come end of the season we lose the trio of Luiz, Mata and Lukaku (he has no incentive to sign a new contract).
November 30, 201312 yr I think it would be best for all parties if Lukaku just shuts up. He knows he'll be playing for Chelsea next season so just get on with it.
November 30, 201312 yr Tracking back meaning taking care of your defensive duties. All 4 of our attacking players don't need to defend all the time but in a functioning team everyone knows when to defend and when to maybe lurk up there. A former footballer once told (playing as a DM) how much everyone else need to work extra if one player (even a striker) don't defend accoring to team plan. To someone Barca's play looks easy and effortless and magical but it really comes down to the fact they work more than anyone else and they would repeat same patterns and moves over and over again. They work their arses off. If Lukaku has lacked his duties what kind of signal would the manager have sent to other players letting a young boy go without a warning or dismissing him beacuse he won't carry out the plan. We have no idea really what is behind all this friction so we can only speculate.
November 30, 201312 yr Just saw his interview on BBC, didnt say anything wrong, was pretty honest and with respect. Edited November 30, 201312 yr by jungbrunnenwald
November 30, 201312 yr Even if he did ask for a transfer request, he may of just been so despondent about missing that penalty and in his mind, losing us the game, that he thought he wasn't good enough to be in the team.
November 30, 201312 yr Coxy15, on 29 Nov 2013 - 7:14 PM, said: i dont think the issue is that lukaku did anything like misbehaving, more that he asked to go out on loan, rather than stay and be a squad player. maybe Jose was relying on him being an impact player, and couldnt guarantee him starts but still wanted him to stick around and fight for his place. im guesing that jose just feels like lukaku took the easy way out, or maybe just feels that lukaku didnt show the right mentality/team loyalty to stick around and fight like others have. dont blame either one of them, you can see it from either point of view. jose wants the strongest squad possible, but big Rom wanted to be playing regularly None of the stories seem to mention specifically that he asked for a permanent transfer. a move away could be the loan that we all know he requested anyway. where do they have any evidence that he wanted a full transfer rather than the loan? the guardian say that jose mourinho has said he asked for a transfer, but vie only seen jose say that he wanted to move on loan, not permanently. seems like the media are twisting it, as they love to do when it comes to chelsea and mourinh You're definitely on the ball on this issue, Coxy. The press are (as they always do) making a massive amount out of this, and they are doing it by exaggeration and misrepresentation. Having said that, both JM and RL are at fault for giving them the ammunition. I'm sure Chelsea wanted to give him a place in the rotation, but - having sat through a season of frustration two years ago - RL didn't want to run the risk of inactivity when he could be playing, starring and developing his career in a world cup year. There's nothing wrong with that in my book, and KdB would be fully justified if he felt the same. JM seems to want RL to come out and say he didn't fancy competing for his place and asked for the move, which would deflect all the criticism of Jose that it was him who just didn't rate a player who has outshone our trio of strikers.
November 30, 201312 yr The story being reported seems very believable. Makes a lot of sense. He probably felt like competing against Torres and Ba was going to be tough enough and then the arrival of Eto'o combined with his penalty miss in the Super Cup final he probably capitulated mentally. Best thing for him to do at the moment is to keep his mouth closed and continue playing the amazing football he has been playing recently. He's coming very close to making his Chelsea career untenable. Great striker with a lot of potentially but very weak mentally. Needs to toughen up and realise there will be other strikers at whichever club he goes to who will rival him for a place. I'm sure if his premier league goal tally reaches 20 by the end of the season, Mourinho will have no choice but to make him first choice.
November 30, 201312 yr My take on it is Lukaku thought with Torres Ba and Eto'o he would only get limited starts and has Belgium to think of, the missed penalty may or may not have made him feel he wasn't quite ready for the pressure of competing here. Not sure if he asked for a transfer and Jose explained he'd like him to fight for the place but rather than a transfer, a loan might suit both parties better...if that was the case then niether are in the wrong and as usual its the press trying to make things here out to be some sort of mess, just like they do if the manager leaves a player on the bench or one of our players gets a mildly soft penalty. Jose could come out and tell everyone exactly what happened but I'm sure with the media and pundits questioning his every decision, he feels if Rom is happy to keep talking to the press, it would be best if he told them the whole story, I'm sure if Jose was feeling he'd got it wrong he would give a version of events rather than point the press back to Lukaku. I'd imagine Rom just wants Jose to keep in touch and tell him how well he's doing as he wants to feel he is doing enough to be here next season as the main man, I think he'll have to improve some aspects of his game and keep the goals going to be sure of that although I'd like to think Mourinho will have some contact with him at least to say "well done so far, keep it up". November 30, 201312 yr "On-loan forward Romelu Lukaku will seek a second season at Everton if Roberto Martinez's side claim Champions League football." "I think it's not a bad idea (to stay at Everton for a second season). If we play Champions League then I think so." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2516020/Romelu-Lukaku-stay-Everton-season-team-qualify-Champions-League.html Hmmm dosen't sound like he's exactly excited about the prospect of returning to Chelsea???
November 30, 201312 yr Lukaku needs to shut the f**k up. Very Harsh. I listened to the interview he gave on Radio 5 and he came over really well. The lad has already shown a lot at only 20 and he wants to be the best in the world. He is committed, working hard and clearly made the right move going to Everton where he is playing a lot of football - something that wouldn't have happened had he stayed with us. He was asked what will happen if Everton qualify for CL - would he stay another season? And he answered probably yes. He is desperate to play for Belgium in the world cup and also wants to play European football and we just haven't shown enough faith in him. Bt going to Everton he has got himself ahead of Benteke who is not having such a good season. He was also asked if Chelsea are keeping regular contact and he said he hasn't really spoken to the club for about 2 months. No wonder he doesn't feel wanted!! Ideally, we won't sign a striker in January and come the summer. Eto and Ba will go and Lukaku will return to be one of our main strikers.
November 30, 201312 yr Everton wont be in the Champions league next season, at the end of the day Lukaku wants to play week in week out especially in a world cup year and at his age i fully understand that.I'd rather him playing at Everton week in week out and improving than sitting on our bench every week.Hopefully after a good season at Everton and a good world cup he comes back with us and he can be our number one striker. Its not like there is loads of good forwards we can buy and most likely Eto'o will leave at end of season,Ba will be sold and Torres future is still unclear.
November 30, 201312 yr Lukaku needs to shut the f**k up. Well if anyone is allowed to say that, it's you mr abramovic.
November 30, 201312 yr The difference in his runs compared to our current strikers is astonishing. ...perfect run between 3 Stoke-players, he almost kicked them in the goal too
November 30, 201312 yr When in September the media started critisising Mourinho’s for sending Lukaku out on loan, Lukaku came out in Mourinho’s defence and said that it was his choice to go out on loan because he wanted to play regular football for his development/world cup. He also added “'It's unfair to criticise Mourinho for letting me go because it was my decision”. So I am not sure why this has come out again and what it is that the Daily Mail or Sport Mail “can reveal”. If look on the web around 17 September it’s on every sport page. November 30, 201312 yr Cause a 20 year old decides who goes on loan at CFC If Jose wanted him here and had plans for him - Lukaku would be at CFC Edited November 30, 201312 yr by Las7
November 30, 201312 yr ...perfect run between 3 Stoke-players, he almost kicked them in the goal too Not just that but the runs he was making all game were fantastic. There was a really good one around the 60th mark I think where he spun a defender and had Barry played him in it probably would have been a goal. He did that all game and if Deulofeu had passed more instead of taking the whole team on Lukaku would have scored more.
