Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

And his attitude is a worry for me. I like my strikers arrogant and confident but you have to back it up. He seems to have a petulant side.

I think his attitude just looks poor in these games. No issues when he's playing and scoring, right?

We'll have to just play to his strengths, which is using his pace and power, driving at or beyond defenders, which is what to be honest we wanted Torres to be doing when we signed him. I definitely want him in the squad, but I think these games have shown his weaknesses more than his strengths that we were all praising last season.

So was that what you were thinking of when you were with me?  Shame on you, dickywuh!  Still, whatever floats your boat, dear!

dont act all coy with me, you knew exactly what it was :)

Exactly, it has highlighted the same problems my everton supporting mates said he had. But he has to have a place in our squad next season, as long as he understands he has to fight for his place.

We are far more likely to sell him than play to his strengths. This is a level up from playing at Everton and WBA. Only two games so far, and not fair to base his entire game on his performance at international level, but in those two games lukaku, and Belgium, have been sh*te.

I'm not basing it on the international games, but it's just easier to see my concerns there.

Playing to his strengths doesn't mean changing the way we play, it's not like playing to his strengths requires re signing Mata and playing Tiki Taka next season. It just means we have to pick the opposition he plays against. If we're against a side that will park the bus and he'll have no space, he's less likely to break through than Costa (despite his physical advantages to do so). The ball will bounce of him too much, but then if on the other hand we play against a side with a high line or where he'll have a chance to run at defenders he'll score like he did for Everton.

Haven't been impressed with him in the world cup so far, his attitude and performances have been poor and has done nothing to merit a starting place in our team like he is expecting.

I'll sit on the fence here, get shot of him, he is funking rubbish.

Wouldn't be surprised if the people calling for him to be sold are the same ones who wanted Sturridge out as well. And look how well that turned out for us.

In fact I wanted to keep Sturridge, gutted we sold him and even more gutted now he is doing so well with the Bin Dippers.

Whoah whoah whoah! I don't think anyone has said anything like that here, in fact I believe I categorically stated that he should be in the squad...

Well if Lukaku's first two games are to be considered it seems to me if he is beginning to believe in his own hype. If we can get the reported 32 million for him I would snap the suitors hands off. The 19 year old who scored the winner has hardly spoken a word to the press yet Lukaku disrespects Chelsea at every opportunity.

Silly boy

I wanted Sturridge out, but not to them. Too gobby by half.

I feel the same about Lukaku. Believes his own hype (as suggested above), and seems to have the attitude that he's already the finished article, and not willing to listen.

Both criticised the club

Sturridge was never such a tw*t Lukaku is turning into. Better player too for that sake.

This could actually be the best thing to happen to him, and maybe his future at Chelsea too. He may now realise he isn't the finished article and still actually does have a lot to learn and maybe Chelsea may actually have been right all along.

I won't hold my breath but let's see. Fingers crossed it may teach him to keep his head down from now on and shut his mouth until he is ready to deliver what he thinks he can at the top level because mark my words he has been woeful, utterly out of his depth.

It's been like watching a 'worst of Torres' highlights DVD or something.

Looking on the bright side though, the world cup and the criticism that's coming his way may bring him back down to earth.

He may get his head down and concentrate on  fighting for his place, after realising that he isn't Drogba.. just yet.

Amaziing BJD... Great minds and all that !

He was rubbish today (didn't see their first game), but I think it has a lot to do with Belgiums midfield not having anyone capable of moving the ball around and getting it to him. Fellaini and Witsel seem more suited to be long ball merchants and De Bruyne was virtually anonymous in the game except for one run he made.
