Oscar - Little Diamond

So you would rather keep faith with a player who has fallen off a cliff this year, one of the few whose play didn't pick up a jot after Jose left, than a 'question mark' who is doing the business right now - whoever that may be.

Sell him now before his value potentially plummets after another shocking season.

I'd rather work out why his form fell. Of a cliff and put it back up the top, selling some one every time they dip is not the answer. We know that at his very best he's a beast and he wins you games. I would say we have suffered from his dip in form more then we have hazard, for me that says fix matic, go alon way to fixing the problem

He just keep having these poor games, I don't know if his dad could find reasons to justify his performance this season. I remember his last decent game was that hat trick against the lower division team in the FA cup, otherwise he's been among the worst 3 players every game this year.

Him and Matic are at the top of my 'sell' list.

Oscar is an enigma, has a big game - usually against lesser opposition, then does nothing for months.

Big difference between the two...Matic made a big contribution to chelsea in the past, had a great 18 months..Oscar has done very little in four years...i think Matic can find his game again, Oscar can't rediscover something he never had in the first place

Agreed. Matic I think has suffered after the Spurs match last season when they worked out how to expose his lack of pace. Guy really needs some power and speed next to him and he'll be fine. A move to a three man deep midfield under Conte would be a good start. Funnily enough that would also allow for Fab to play a similar role to Pirlo in his Juve team.

Only problem I have with that is whether matic does enough going forward to play the same role that the marchisio, vidal, and pogba played when in that 3 with pirlo.

If conte can get fabregas excelling in the pirlo role, he will be a massive player for us, and should be able to dominate well in his 30's.

I actually think Matic is excellent going forward but in this current setup he doesn't really know what to do, the fear of failure is evident.

One of his best assets that is totally missing at the moment is his inclination to sit behind the AMs on the edge of the attacking third, mopping up clearances and restarting the attack.

I'd disagree with that, aside from his hit at Everton he looks tentative going forward and panics as soon as he has to use his right foot. All of his best games for us have been solely as a DM and his job is to shield the back 4 and give Fabregas space to conduct the attack.

Yep, Matic at his best is when he is making tackles and then moving the ball on quickly to someone like Fabregas so we can go on the attack. As soon as Matic holds on to the ball for any more than a few seconds i worry. If he holds on to the ball he is quickly closed down, he only uses his left foot and then he panics and losses the ball, he look's like he doesn't know what he is doing these days. If Matic is going to stay here then he needs to just protect the back 4, make a tackle and move the ball on quickly.

Oscar will probably score a hat trick against the hapless Villa next weekend to give the manager and fans false hope again. As for Matic, it's really surprising a top level footballer could be so one-footed, once teams found that out he's 50% of what he was

Not at all. I think Matic's off-the-ball issues are far more concerning than when he is in possession. He doesnt tackle and doesnt cover the right areas of the pitch. So as a defensive midfielder he is almost useless this year. On the ball he has not been great but he hasnt been completely hopeless.

Matic, Oscar, Cahill, Ivanovic and Mikel would all bring in enough money for improvements. We need to get rid of players who are happy to be squad players and bring in genuine talent.

The inconsistency of this fella is surreal but I wouldn't write him out just yet..  1 last more season, I'd give him that much..

Personally I think if we need to sell to finance moves this summer oscar should be one of the first offered up, ive always been a fan even if I do think he should be playing in a midfield 3 and not behind strikers, if we insist on sticking with the 4231 then an upgrade is needed, after having his first summer off in 5 years he should of been at it this year like willian has been, instead he has produced another season of inconsistency but with arguably less of the better performances, its a shame as I think he has been handled/developed wrong while here, all of his plus points lead to him playing as the attacker in a midfield three for me (in a 433) and he has never played there.

Don't be so ridiculous.

I'm not. He contributes absolutely nothing to the team.

Just think about it,

Is he good sub - no

Is he good on the ball - no

Is he physical enoght for PL - no

Is he consistent - HELL NO!

With any luck Mourinho will get the Manchester United job, make Oscar his first signing, and let us have Mata back :)
