Oscar - Little Diamond

I am genuinely baffled that some think that was not a penalty!

The 'shot' he got away was an attempt at knocking the ball over his head to follow up with a tap in...

It was clumsy, reckless and dangerous.

No way, it was an attempt on goal, the flash wouldn't have got their let alone Oscar

100% Zola.

He dinked it over the keeper and the keeper in turn basically clattered him to such a degree Oscar was clearly out of it.

I cna't see what advantage was to be played as the ball was cleared by a defender.

It should have been pulled back, keeper booked and Hazard taking a penalty.

Then why did he stop his momentum before the keeper hit him, It was a lob, I dont think thats debatable. The whole argument really rests on whether or not a keeper can collide with an attacker after he had taken the shot. Some think its a penalty others (including the ref) didnt. I think with the amount of discussion regarding and disagreement around the topic shows it was a stonewall penalty or anything. Could have been given but wasnt.

The logic is silly though.

Would it be legal if Terry snapped someones leg in half a split second after they got their shot away? No it would not.

You cant smash people when they have the ball or when they dont. It was a stone wall penalty and a sending off.

Ref didnt think so, plenty of others didnt think so. Even Terry said the ref made the right call. Its not that cut and dry

Jose implied he didn't. Terry said anything to avoid controversy. We didn't lose and that is all that mattered to john. If people genuienly think the ref got them all right then they probably think the same about ovrebo in Chelsea Vs Barca.

Ref didnt think so

The ref didn't think we should get a penalty at Burnley either, or at home to Liverpool.

I wouldn't base my judgement on Michael Oliver's decisions, personally.

it was a pen. the keeper smashed into oscar in the penalty area and was nowhere near the ball. those are the facts. undisputable pen. but not given, we didnt lose and we're 180 mins away from the league title, so lets move on :)

TOP TIP: In future, assume all penalty decisions will go against us, it helps to ease the disappointment/anger when they get turned down! its a method ive used this season, and boy have i needed to!!

getting back on topic - I heard Oscar warmed up today - I was hoping he could step on the pitch - I am starting to think Oscar didn't get a concussion & everything was done as a precaution

Back to the penalty incident...

I think the foul was dangerous but that it may not have been a penalty as Ospina probably did not stop a goal scoring attempt. Ideally, if the rules if the game allow it, the referee should have stopped play a little later and booked or sent off Ospina (given the intention and recklessness). However if the rules indicate that a foul in the box has to be a penalty as well, it is without a doubt a penalty!

I think we should leave the penalty issue behind us.

The points have been made and no one is going to change their minds now after the 10 or so pages on it beforehand.

What matters is we are Champions.

Pinched from Twitter.

First 3 years at Chelsea:
Oscar: 30 Goals, 31 Assist, 3 trophies (joined at age 20)
Frank Lampard: 28 Goals, 16 Assits, 0 trophies (joined at age 23)

Point being, let's show a little patience with the lad.

If any foul in the box is a penalty as you say, that was a penalty because that was clearly a foul. My confusion was whether the foul has to do with the prevention of a goalscoring opportunity for it to be a penalty. I hope that made the original post clearer :)

Given Jose said today that he hopes Oscar will have a season like hazard next year, sounds like he's staying...can't say I'm too optimistic Oscar will live up to what standard Jose thinks he is

Same.

It's Oscars last chance I'd imagine, he hides after the new year again and we will sell.
