Do you think if every player has a part to play in the defensive side and the attacking side there is more chance of winning a game? Its simpliflying things to an extent but the days of defenders doing the defending and attackers doing the attacking are gone now.

                                       I believe Hazard's drop in form this season is attributable to Mata 's absence as they get the best out of each other.

 

                                      When Mata returns to the team I expect to see a marked improvement in Hazard's performance.

 

                                      Hazard, Oscar, Mata is a world class combination which should produce results with Mourinho at the helm.

When will Hazard return? :( 

 

Hopefully as others are saying Mata will help him out a bit.

This are diferent times,the league is much more competitive this season.The owner doesnt just wants succes ,he wants style and flair and who can blame him.So FAR before any Mourinhonistas start screaming we lack any flair or style.

Anyone know who what happened to Hazard this season, just nothing is clicking at the moment - I'm pretty worried by his form perhaps a rest might do him good. 

Didn't help today that Spurs fouled him at every opportunity.

I think Mata complements Hazard well enough to bring out his best qualities.  Unfortunately Hazard came off for Schurrle so we didn't get to see that partnership revival for long.  Hopefully Mata will be getting more starts now because he just makes our attack tick.  He seems willing and able to put in a pressing shift and we've had encouraging words from both him and Mourinho.  This could be the turning point for our attack similar to when Robben came into the side after recovering from his first injury.  That's when things started to get exciting.

 

I wish Jose would try Oscar in CM next to Ramires or Mikel with Mata ahead of them, just once!  I really think there is room for both of them in the middle. 

I think hazard maybe psychologically still getting over that hamstring injury. How many runs have we seen this season like that one at villa park?

He has the pace to go past any defender but he seems far more comfortable playing it short.

If that was his first major injury, then it could take a while for him to get that confidence back.

Hazard's been still pretty good although not as good as last term. He had to change his game too with Jose making him defend. There is no doubt it takes away from his attacking game. When our system starts to really work and it will every single player will look better.

 

I think he defended last season too under FSW - it was only Mata and Torres who were relieved of their defensive duties basically. I remember being impressed by Hazard tracking back at one point.

I said in the match day thread that i think Hazard is happier to take a foul then run at defenders and great a genuine chance. That is just the way it looks to me. I would rather see him charging at defenders then what he is doing now, i'm finding him more and more frustrating the more i watch him this season, he's becoming predictable. He needs to take a few more shots and keep the opposition guessing. All he has done this season is run a bit, cut inside then play a 5 yard pass, he's better than that. So far i see no reason for anyone to fear Hazard at this moment and that is something i can't believe i am saying.

I wouldn't go that far. Clearly not in form at the moment but that could just be down to fatigue. Are you forgetting his run in the buildup to our first goal against Bayern?

Before the season started Jose alluded to wanting Hazard to take more responsibility during matches and increase his goals scored.

 

To be honest he is isn't achieving either of those things at the moment. He is our best dribbler of the ball and has the ability to take his man on and work space into the area but, for me, he isn't doing it enough.

 

He does go around players but it often seems to be much deeper into the pitch, closer to the halfway line than the area and although it creates a little space it's not really leading to chances.

 

Not sure why it's not quite happening for him, he isn't playing badly by any means but at the same time he isn't being as outstanding as we have seen him be last season. 

I think Hazard hasnt been as good this season because of him tracking back. He is coming deeper to collect the ball or get the ball back so he has to cover more ground before gettting to goal which means more time for the other team to cover him or put in a tackle.

I noticed it the other day how deep he was coming and how Ash isnt getting as far forward this season.

Hazard hasn't been burdened by much more defensive responsibility this season, on the other hand you are correct that A.Cole both doesn't get involved up top enough and there are few runs on the by line by him. I mean as poor as Hazard has been by his standards so far the player who has dropped off the most is Ash by a fairly large margin. 

Not that Iva is some forward running maverick but he has been far more effective when going forward and does provide options for the right midfielder on occasion.

Hopefully it's not too bad.

It will be interesting to see what someone other can offer us on the left.

My guess is that Schurrle will play on the left with Mata on the right... Oscar continuing through the middle with Willian on the bench. 

He hasn't been great lately, may have something to do with the injurt, good to rest him up. Time for Willian to show his worth. 

Definitely the injury. Against Hull, Villa and Everton he was much sharper.

Hes like a joe cole for me in that he hot or cold. He has a lot more in his locker than gets shown. Some games he looks rather poor, the next he can produce a bit of magic.

Hazard ought to take note of Schurrle's performance last night. Schurrle took the full back on relentlessly which, strangely, is something Hazard hasn't done enough of this year despite his dribbling ability being one of his biggest assets. I think Schurrle deserves to start on the left against Norwich, Hazard needs to win his place back on merit.
