February 15, 20188 yr If and when we get going on this, is it possible in this day and age to have a fixed construction price and a late finish penalty built into the building contract. Only asking because I remember the epic building of the east stand.

As you can tell I’ve worked with Carillion before and it’s no suprise they imploded! So have I, a horrible company with a disgusting lack of morals or ethics. They treat subbies terribly.
February 21, 20188 yr Has there been any recent news on seat allocations for younger, more vocal fans?
March 14, 20188 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43410170 Chelsea settle Stamford Bridge redevelopment dispute Chelsea can start work on a new £1bn stadium at Stamford Bridge after settling a dispute with a neighbour who objected to the construction. The Crosthwaite family took out an injunction in May 2017, saying the expansion to 60,000 seats would block light into their home. In January, Hammersmith and Fulham Council passed a motion to prevent the injunction blocking the plans. The club said on Wednesday they have reached an agreement with the family. Chelsea expect to be playing at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2019-20 season and will be forced to play at an alternative venue - likely to be Wembley Stadium - for up to four years during construction.
March 15, 20188 yr Suppose this is really going to happen then. I'd been holding out hope we'd somehow end up staying at the bridge, I have major concerns about building a new stadium. We've seen clubs like Arsenal and West Ham moving into new stadiums and they're soulless, they might as well be playing in the MLS. I hope we don't go down the same route.

March 15, 20188 yr Great news, hopefully the first bit of work covering the rail track starts in the summer so that we're able to move out and get this done ASAP. We need a bigger capacity to compete with the best in England/Europe.

Highbury was just as bad, remember it's nickname ? The Olympic stadium seating is too far away from the pitch, it was never designed for football crowds. Our new stadium will be compact because of the size of our site, we are having to dig down a considerable distance to fit it all in. This all means we should have a more compact and enclosed stadium, and hopefully this will equate to a fantastic atmosphere.
March 15, 20188 yr I just hope the government's plan to snatch Russian money held in this country doesn't reach into Romans pockets.

You would think a bigger and more aesthetically pleasing stadium will draw in larger crowds from both fans and tourists. I like SB but tbh it does need some renovation. I understand the sentimental value people have for the current stadium, but we have to move with the times for a better future.

Bit of a worry digging down too far, we wont strike oil (hard luck Roman) but i think the water table is quite high. obviously been taken into account.

If Romans money was frozen the club would be in real trouble. There is no precedent for this type of thing but if cash stopped flowing would the club would still belong to Roman? Could the Government sell the club? I suspect it would be real trouble if they tried and all sorts of legal wrangling would ensue. If it did happen though and Roman was proved to be in receipt of "dirty money" the club would probably have to be self funding and the stadium project would hit the buffers.

Welcome back from outer space. Its been frozen for last three season.

March 24, 20188 yr Interesting quote from the Chelsea fancast Quote “They [the club] are so keen on making this [the stadium redevelopment] work and they are so not keen on Wembley that they have asked Hammersmith & Fulham whether they could rebuild the Linford Christie stadium to make it a 40,000 seater. And then the idea was possibly to sell it to QPR who weren’t interested. But Hammersmith & Fulham are trying to keep – even in this period of four years – within the boundaries of the borough. Wembley is very far down the list of places to go. I don’t know why this keeps being dragged up. They are not sure it is going to be Wembley. They would prefer it not to be Wembley for the reasons that you state [i.e. difficulty and expense of getting there]. It’s easier for Spurs fans to get to Wembley because they’re all North London. It’s just an easier route and even then they get completely stuck from Marylebone. It just doesn’t work for them either. And I just don’t agree that the club will have difficulty filling it wherever they go. But even they initially are keen to have a 40,000 seater. So it may be – and I don’t know what the state of play is at the moment – that they go to Craven Cottage and ask them, or Brentford, and say ‘Can we increase the capacity of your ground and share it with you’? Because they are willing to spend that amount of money on it. They are willing to go that far. And consequently I am overjoyed by this. I think it’s going to be an absolutely brilliant ground with a brilliant experience. And to say that the club is going to go backwards, I just think is absurd with these wonderful aspirations for the ground. So please can we just get rid of this discussion about Wembley which seems to constantly pop up as if that is inevitable. It isn’t. It is low down the list. And not Twickenham either. Twickenham – they can’t get permission from anybody around there to do it. They are looking for smaller clubs to improve. So clearly the amount of money, whether he [Roman] is going to pay for it himself or get investors – they are absolutely going for this in a big, wonderful way. And the future for our club will be fabulous. And the borough is very keen on helping them with all of this.” Borrowed from http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1079233&page=105
March 26, 20188 yr Wembley is already signed and sealed, with an agreement to open the Chelsea Nike store at Wembley. Could be 4/5 seasons.
April 9, 20188 yr Not particularly applicable to this thread, but it's been announced that West Brom's application for a 3,600 safe standing area, consisting of " rail seats", has been rejected by the government. The significance of this is that it has been touted as a test case for other clubs considering the same. A spokesman from the ministry of Sports and Culture confirmed that they have no intention of deviating from current legislation on this issue. Celtic already have a safe seating area. I'm guessing that this was OK'd by devolved Scottish powers that be. Anyway, it doesn't look as though the atmosphere at grounds ( or non atmosphere), is going to alter any time soon.
April 9, 20188 yr Safe standing would benefit clubs such as Everton, Liverpool and Spurs far more than us, because their stadiums, or proposed stadiums, feature a kop end, which would effectively become one big terrace, much like Dortmund's. Sadly we won't be so lucky, through nobody's fault, those are just the constraints of our site. In other news, the consultation process regarding the Oswald Stoll site has finished, and it's very positive news for us. It seems almost certain now we will purchase a large proportion of the site and increase our footprint by 2 acres. As part of the deal, not only will new apartments be built for the veterans on the remaining part of the site that will still belong to the Foundation, but we will rehouse a significant number of other veterans elsewhere. In the words of the Foundation themselves, this was a once-in-a-lifetime offer for them and goodness knows how much we'll spend to strike this deal. Obviously the figures are confidential at this stage but those of you concerned that Roman has tightened the purse strings or has lost interest in Chelsea might want to revise that opinion. This stadium must already have set Roman back a fortune and the costs will only increase from here. It looks like no expense will be spared and our owner is intent on making it as grand as possible.

April 10, 20188 yr Out of interest...if fans knew cost of rebuilding Stamford Bridge would lead to several years of mediocrity (just fighting for top four like Arsenal) and selling to buy in the transfer market, would they accept that? or would some now prefer ease and speed of a new build elsewhere, to be competitive with the likes of City asap? I ask because I think my first statement is what's going to happen...don't think it's a coincidence that our net spend has plummeted over last few years and I don't believe it's just cos of ffp...City have found a way around it and I'm sure we could be doing the same, if we wanted to

If we stopped selling top prospects and wasting money on mediocrity then we should remain as challengers.
